  1. Thank you Barbara for your inspirational and uplifting story! I don't have a date yet, but I'm prayerful that it will be in March. Keep up the good work and God bless!

Keep me posted on your date. I so remember those days before I had surgery. I thought it would never come. Then once I had the surgery I thought I'd never lose the weight, or it would take forever. Please don't fret, it does work. You will have hills and valleys and stalls along the way, but hang in there. You will get to where you want to be and I will look forward to reading your year anniversary blog. lol

  2. Thanks for sharing your story Barbara. I love it when vets tell their stories, so they can help and inspire the newbies. I myself am 5 1/2 months out and I definitely can tell the difference in how much more I can eat from when I first had surgery. I still have about 50 or so pounds to lose before my one year surgerversary in Aug. Wish me luck!!!

Again Congratz and keep on keeping on!!! THE SLEEVE TOTALLY ROCKS biggrin.gifbiggrin.gifbiggrin.gifbiggrin.gifbiggrin.gifbiggrin.gifbiggrin.gif.

You are welcome. I don't come on the board as much as I used to, but I do remember how important it was for me to read success stories. I was on this board every single day for months prior to surgery and many months after. It was what got me through it all. So I do plan to come on from time to time with updates. Good luck with your sleeve, it sounds like you are doing great so far. Best wishes.

  3. Thanks for posting your blog. I am glad you were so successful because that means I can be successfu too. I have failed so many times I wonder if I can really do it. It is comforting to know that life becomes normal again and you can become not so concern with food. You have made me so sure this is right for me and life will set itself right side up, in time. Congrats to you!! You have achieve an amazing thing.

You can and will be successful with the sleeve. I can't tell you how many diets I went on over 30 years. I must have lost and gained over 600 lbs. This does work. It does take dicipline and committment. I too wondered if this would work for me. It has been the one thing that does work. I honestly believe that many of use have grelin glands that are abnormal and that's why we are constantly hungry. Once that is removed, it changes the way you feel about food. I don't constantly think about food like I used to. Best wishes to you on your journey.

  4. Hi Barbara, your story is very inspirational because I am just starting my journey,I have done research for about 2 yrs, first it was the lapband and once I thought that was the surgery for me I never thought I could change my mind to have a surgery that was so drastical as having my stomach cut but once I did some more research on it and had the chance to talk to my surgeon she kinda put the Icing on the cake,I questioned her and she told me not to let her opinion persway me in anyway but It deffinately did,she says that the sleeve would be a better fit of a surgery for my,I question about the erosion of the band and the slippage ,she told me that it depends on the person, and there journey that there going to take but it does has its own flaws because if you have to vomite or loose weight to fast the band just may slip or ever erode...that kinda scared me..not to go with the band...so I am happy to read such a positive Blog...thank you ...I hope everything go well beyond your surgerversary...Thanks

Camille, I actually first wanted to get the lap band. I did research for about a year as well. I'm so grateful that I found out about the sleeve prior to getting the band done. There are so many complications with the band. There are many people on this board that had the band and switched to the sleeve. The sleeve is maintenance free, no fills no unfills no future doc visits. I couldn't be happier. I wish you the best of luck on your journey.

  5. I agree with Happy Destiny...I am so glad you posted this. I am sure the doubt will be there til the day they take my tummy out, but I tell ya, this blog helped ease my thinking once again. Thanks Barb =) Appreciated!!!

Rob, I've mentioned it to you privately before, but it is difficult or differnt the first 4 weeks or so. It's like learning to eat all over again. BUT, it is the best thing I've ever done for myself. So don't be surprised to feek overwhelmed in the beginning. But once you get a little further out, it will be second nature and you will be so happy. Looking forward to meeting up with you.

  11. One thing that works great for me is gargling with warm salt water several times a day. It definitely works. I was also reading an article recently that stated if you gargle with warm salt water daily it would prevent you from getting the flu because the germs take several days to get from your throat to your body.
