Kelly, welcome to the forum! I think many of us started out thinking the band was the way to go until doing all the research. It sure did open my eyes up once I read all the complications and I'm so thankful for forums like this so that we can learn from others experiences. Good luck on your first consult.

Phatmanwalking, in all honesty, most days were good, but every now and then I'll feel a little tired of not so good in between. Update on the arm. Yesterday was my first day back to work so I used my arm quite a bit. It did swell some (not nearly as bad as before) and it hurt some as well. Starting today, the doc has me taking aspirin twice daily. And I have to up my Nexium to 2 times a day to protect my tummy from the aspirin. So we will see how that works. I do beleive that it is getting better, just very slowly. I was also told to start gently massaging it during the day. I'm still praying and hoping it goes away soon. Thanks for asking. Hope you are doing well. :confused1:

excited, I had good days and bad days during the first two weeks. I'd have 3 or 4 great days in a row, and then one bad one. I think it's normal. Just keep getting that protein and fluids in. Glad to hear you are doing ok.

Congrats! Are you feeling any better?

How long before did you start your PRE-OP DIET? Days? weeks?
Barbara278 replied to TDELYTE's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Phatman, yes. Sometimes when you get off caffiene or carbs you get a really bad headache that can last a couple of days. I had one for 3 days after I started my preop diet. -
Made it to Mexicali, surgery in the morning
Barbara278 posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Well, we made the trip to San Diego and then on to Mexicali. My flight was an hour late so I was so worried that the van would leave without me. Of course they waited for me. We did all our preop tests today. They actually weren't bad at all. They drew blood, did x rays and a ekg. We met with the anesthesiologist first and then Dr. Aceves. I loved them both. They were very detailed about what to expect and what is expected of us. Had lots of paperwork to fill out. We were allowed to go out to dinner tonight after a full day of fasting. Needless to say, I ate to much. I was starved by the time we had dinner around 6pm. The hotel is very nice and the restaurant here is fantastic. I met Brenda and her mother. Great people. We actually had dinner together tonight. Tomorrow morning Ernesto will pick us up at 7am to head to the hospital for surgery. Surprisingly I'm not nervous at all. They did give us an antibiotic we are to take tonight and a pill to help us sleep. I'll post more tomorrow after surgery. Wish me Luck and all prayers appreciated. -

Barbara278 replied to TDELYTE's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc required a one week high protein, low carb diet (less than 30 carbs per day). I went ahead and started it one week early. -

Those were concerns of mine also. The hospital was very good. They cannot turn anyone away when you need help. The ER doc was very interested in where I had been and mentioned that she knew several others who had gone to Mexico for surgeries. I'm not sure how my insurance company will respond to the bills. I'll just have to wait and see. My Doc was concerned but ok with everything. She ran tests and didn't question my decision at all. Hope that helps. -

Well, My arm felt pretty good for a few days and then today it hurt like heck and swole up again. Its's very discouraging because I just don't know what else to do to help it along. I'll just keep doing the hot compresses and pray for the best. Thanks for asking. :laugh0: -
