  1. I've heard that some doctors want their patients to do a liquid diet right before surgery. I was concerned about that and asked them yesterday and they said that they do it a little differently at Kaiser So Sanf Francisco, so I am eating healthy and acting as if I have the band already. I bet that was hard to do a all liquid diet! Good job! And thank you for the comment.

I do have a question for you...would you do it all over again if you had the choice?

  2. You dont know how great it is to read your 3 day post op Blog. I have not yet had the surgery (should find out a date on the 25th) but I keep going back and forth if I should do it or not. But deep down i think I should.

Congrats on feeling good and you pair of jeans! I bet that feels soooo good! :0)

If you have any advise for a "soon to be banded or not person" please feel free to share!

    Have fun!

  3. Hello all,

I thought I would post this question even though it is not the most favorite subject to talk about....Throwing up! :)

I was wondering if it is normal to throw up regularly. I have noticed that some of you say that you are tired of throwing up. So I was wondering if you guys can tell me if you do or you dont or if it is normal or not.

    Thank you!!

  4. I'm glad to read how well you did with your surgery. I am slo had my Gall Bladder out and was wondering if it can be compared to that? I should find out my surgery date on 1/25. I'm starting to get nervous and doubts. But deep down I know I need to do this.

I agree...2010 is going to be great!

    Congrats!

  5. Thank you so much for the info! That helps so much. I too feel the same way about food "what am I going to eat next" I has been my best friend, and until now I realized that that this best friend is not doing me good! :)

  6. Happy New Year everyone!

I am seeing my surgeon on 1/25/10 and should find out my surgery date at that time. But I still have some questions. :)

If anyone can post how you felt after surgery and your recovery, that would be great. I have concerns about pain and nausea.

Is the pain like gas pains? ( had my gall bladder out and I remember that tight bloated feeling)

Are you soar around your port area?

Can you lay on your stomach after healing, or do you feel your port when you lay on your tummy?

After recovery, did you feel hungry?

I know this sounds pretty stupid, I was laying in bed last night thinking about it and these questions are what stood out in my head.

I am excited about doing this, I have been overweight all of my life and I have three young children and I want to enjoy life, more than I do now.

I would appreciate any feed back. I hope everyone had a happy and safe new year!

    Melissa

  7. Hello everyone,

I went one of my pre-op "classes" yesterday and I totally got scared after listening to the women in my group. Some women are getting the Gastric Bypass and the others the Lap Band. Some of them said that they know people that have horrible pain in they're stomach's all the time after having the Lap Band Surgery. Is that normal? They were also talking about how most of the people who have the Lap Band wish they did the Gastric Bypass. Is this true?

I was upset on the way home because my excitement turned to fear, but then I thought that maybe I could ask my friends here. I would appreciate as many responses, good or bad. I really want to know what I am getting myself into.

    Thanks Alot!

  8. Hi,

I am planning on being Banded this November. I have started the classes and appointments and have lots of questions and concerns. I am 32 years old, mother of 3 and I have ALWAYS been overweight. I have tried so many different diets, and none of them worked, I felt hungry all the time. I also have been dealing with IBS and what the doctors think is the beginning of Colitis. :smile2:

I am hoping that someone can help me with some questions that I have. Even thought they may sound incredibly stupid .

How do you feel right out of surgery?

If you get a headache or are prone to Migraines what can you take?

Can you feel the band around your stomach? Does it feel tight?

    Would you do it again?

I would appreciate any and all answers or advice. I am really excited but also nervous.

Thanks so much and good luck to everyone!
