  1. Thanks! I'm actually thinking about the last week in July or the first week in Aug because of my school schedule. Good luck on getting your approval and keep in touch Tlynnles!
  2. I'm going to Mexico alone and decided not to tell anyone either. I've told one of my friends that is in the "trying to lose weight boat" but that's it. It's definitely a scary thought of being in another country and going through major surgery but I feel it will be the best thing I have ever done for myself. Everyone post op says it was worth it and the only thing they would change is doing it sooner. Best of luck to you and we are here to support you!

    surgery date!

Yay!! It's so exciting to get a surgery date. I know I will be floating when I get mine as well lol. What can you have on the slim fast pre-op diet? Do you just drink those instead of protein shakes?
  4. Congrats! I've heard that if you have proof you applied for the passport you can still cross the border. Definitely ask about that if you don't get it in time. I know you would hate to have to reschedule!

    32,000 feet high and ready!

That sucks. Hope you're staying hydrated and you make it home soon!

    32,000 feet high and ready!

Thanks for all the updates Tracy! Hope her pain level is better when she wakes up. You'll have to let us know how your swallow test goes! :-)

    Day after tomorrow!!

I can only imagine your anticipation at this point. Hopefully the next two days go by quickly and this can be behind you! Good luck with your surgery.

I Have a Date At Last!!!

Congrats Nursygirl! I'm trying to get an August date but haven't heard anything yet. Hoperfully I'll be right behind you! What kind of pre-op diet do you have to do (if any)?

    Hooray I'm sleeved!!

    Congrats on getting sleeved!!
  10. Reading your story makes me want to tell my family but I doubt it would have the same ending. I really want my sister to go with me but if I tell her I know she would tell my mother out of concern for me (that I was losing my mind!). I still have all summer to make up my mind though. I'm glad everything turned out well. Good luck in your search for a doctor!

I haven't been on in a few days so I've missed your whole traveling posts! :-( I wish you the best and can't wait to hear from you post op. Thanks for mentioning the tip because I doubt I would have thought of it. How did you get wifi on the plane? Did you have the internet card or was it specific to the airline carrier? I will have a five hour flight there and will be bored out my mind!!
  12. I've decided not to tell anyone until after. I did tell one of my friends (as kind of a test) and she was open and asked me questions about the procedure. I then told her I was going to Mexico and she flipped! I told her about the dr and hospital and she was a little calmer but after that, I can only imagine how my fam will react. I will just have to deal with them being upset about not knowing before I had surgery. To me that's better than dealing with negativity and being stressed pre-op. I have enough to worry about!
  13. Thanks everyone! I can't wait. Do you have any suggestions for a really good food processor? I haven't checked reviews on Amazon yet but I wanted to get your feedback.

    Anticipation is heavy!!!

Aww I can only imagine what you are going through! I am anxious thinking about going there and I don't even have a date yet. Believe that you will be fine during and after surgery and leave no room for second doubts. Do you know if anyone from here will be there at the same time?
  15. Best of luck to you! Look forward to reading about your experience.
  16. Hope your surgery went well this morning! Let us know how your doing when you feel up to it!
  17. I also wanted to be banded at first (hince the screen name) but after deciding against that, I started looking into bypass and stumbled across VSG. As soon as I read about it I knew it was the one for me. I'm trying to figure out the financing but decided against telling my family until after it's done. Good luck with your surgery. It'll be here b4 you know it!

    Recovering nicely...

Thanks for the details. I like knowing what to expect although each person's experience may be different.
  19. Welcome to the board! You kicked cancer's tail and now your going to kick obesity's tail! Congrats on getting such a fast approval!
  20. I got really worried when I read about the spinal block. That would be a deal breaker for me because I have scoliosis (curved spine) so I'm not letting anyone poke around in there! I'm sure they know what they are doing but since it's optional I think I'm going to have to opt out. I hate that I will miss out on something that will help my recovery though. Thanks for the info wannalise!

  22. Never mind I found my answer lol. Congrats on your success and good luck with your tummy tuck!!!!

  23. Hi Shanda. I was wondering if you ended up going with Dr. Aceves? your signature says another surgeon so I don't know. Your thread was really helpful because you address almost all the concerns I had!
