  1. I had chosen to have my cop friend have a talk with him which worked well. He says nothing to me and I say nothing to him. I do hate never telling my husband, but I think that is for the best. If he didn't live next door I would tell DH! Sorry I didn't update, I stay away from here a lot now. Too much!

  2. I personally don't think the band is the answer for everyone. It takes hard work and dedication that some people just aren't willing to do. If someone is looking for a quick fix or any easy answer--then the band isn't for them at all. It takes the right mindset because it is easy to graze and eat around your band!

I was banded in 2006 and have LOST and kept 165 pounds off, and I am not alone by any means! There are a lot of people that work very hard--and a lot that don't. But in the end it comes down to what you are willing to do to make it happen!

  3. blaze- are you for real? please get off you pc high horse! did you read the posts. there is a "normal" in these cases. any reference to "crazy" was not intended to be MEAN. give me a break.

i think my father may be bipolar. growing up he always had major mood swings. i remember we always walked on egg shells when he was in a bad mood. or we found reasons to not be home when he was. he was on medications, dad's "happy pills. but they never really made him right, ya know? the littlest things would set him off. or he would hide away in the bedroom. things are still this way now. only its easier for me because i am an adult and dont live at home. my mom stayed with him until this year. she finally has had enough. the saddest part is she stayed "for the kids". we all would have been happier and better off had she left, ya know? but hindsight is 20/20.

i think you just have to do what you feel is right. perhaps you would be unhappy for a while if you did leave, but that would change. and maybe if you left that would help him some how? i am sorry i dont have a great answer to help you. i wish you all the best! you are such an amazing woman and i love reading your posts. i found much encouragement through my journy from you.

Thanks want_so. We are working to get him regulated. It is a rough road.

...and blaze no one said anything about being crazy. Acting crazy is different.

  4. 6 months and I absolutely hate it. I have lost a lot of weight but I've been in pain and no one really knows why. I maybe getting it removed. My mom was thinking about getting the surgery but after she's seen how much I've endured she changed her mind.

It's not for everyone and everyone's body reacts differently. I'm grateful for the weight loss but the price has been too high in my opinion.

I am so sorry to hear you are in pain...that is too bad. I wish the Drs could help you!

  5. I have had success with the 5 day test many times, when I have had unfills and needed to get back on track.

I think you need to think about why you are going back to those bad habits. Is it stress? Comfort? Or just unprepaired to eat for the day and eat whatever? Those things and finding the real thing may help you get back on track!

    Good luck!

  6. Susan...thanks for sharing the info. I have always been a little aprehensive about putting too much personal info "out there". Do we really know what someone would do with what we share? Nope, I think not. Whether it be with children or adults we all need to be careful how much is shared.

Personally, LBT has been a great way for me to meet friends, compare life stories, etc. But, I only trust personal info through email after "knowing" someone for some time.

Apples I agree but it is very sad to have to NOT be yourself and feel guarded and fearful. The real problem is when you share with people you thought were your friends and they use against you.

We are all here for support and it is hard to get support without being honest--I feel it is a catch 22.

This is a very scary and real phenomenon! I know of 4 people in the last couple of years that have been a victim of this type of behaviors to varying extents. I was actually a victim and it is terrifying! Many people think that this only happens with children but sadly adults take part as well.

I found this paragraph especially interesting -

If you are active in the blogosphere, be very wary of any people who are wrapped up in “online drama” or associated with anything regarding “drama” (unless it's of the theater-type). These people will often turn on their own if you choose to not be a part of their circle. They are often just groups of cyberbullies, and if they decide that you have done something against them, you will become their new target.

I couldn't have said this better myself. If you ever utter the words "What will happen when they get mad at me" to yourself--get out of that friendship FAST! Trust me on that one!

  7. I have been banded for almost 2 months. (Aug 5) I lost 17 pounds on the "infamous" liquid diet right afterwards. That was great~ BUT thats where it ended. I have not lost nor gained any since then. I had my first fill a week and a half ago. (4 cc's in an 11 cc band) I still weigh the same. I dont get my second fill till the begining of November.

I have to be careful, because I can eat a good amount, but don't feel that full feeling until about 20 minutes after im done eating. If I eat too much, then I feel yucky. Will that full feeling come sooner to me as I get more restriction with more fills?

The nutritionist mentioned that usualy the weight comes off a lot easier after the second fill. I sure hope something more happens more when I get it. Has anyone noticed this to be true? I am getting realy discouraged. Not even my in-laws noticed any weight loss this weekend and they last saw me right before the surgery. I guess 17 pounds doesnt "look" a lot different. They still dont know.. I just figured something would be said about me looking like I have lost some weight. :( Oh well~

For me it took the 3rd fill where I really felt it and began to loose. Don't be discouraged, this is a process and a lifestyle change. Give your body time to adjust and get used to it! It gets better I promise! :scared2:

  8. Im kinda think me getting the LAP-BAND® instead of the gastric bypass for many reasons! The main reason is because I had it done at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit MI and there service and appointment scheduling is horrible. I didnt get my 2nd week checkup until my 6th week out of surgery. My doctor didnt give me a fill during surgery. My first fill was scheduled for September 18th and they cancelled it and moved it to October the 2nd. So instead of getting a fill 6 weeks out of surgery i wont be getting mine until Im 13 weeks out of surgery. I have already hit a pataue and if I could loose the weight on my own then I wouldnt have gotten the surgery. My surgery was July 13. I was 299 and im 269 now. I think if i would have just gotten the bypass then I wouldnt have to worry about appt. being canceled for fills.

I don't think it is your band you are mad at--clearly it is the lack of care you are getting! I would demand that you get the care and appointments that you need! So if you can switch Drs--ask your insurance company.

You have lost a HUGE amount of weight already! Be happy! I can tell you that you never would have lost that amount without your band! You are doing great--but you deserve great care as well. Demand it!

  9. My Partner and I want to get engaged and we've picked out the ring.

but it can only be resized up 5 sizes... and i need it to be resized up 6 sizes... so one size off....

but then i though... what happens when i get the band in (surgery date is December), and im loosing weight, will i have to get it continually resized?

i can get it rezied i think 3 times or something without it affecting the band too much...

So i wanted to know what everyone else thought about this...

We're going to talk to the manager of the store to see if they can get its in my size, but i though why no just wait till im the smaller size.... then again we're getting 30% off the ring and its a 2500 ring

Any one got any ideas or help?

I would wait to have it sized. I have had my rings sized 3 times now and can't have them done anymore. I wish I would have waited more to do it. Now I have a ring that spins and falls off but can't do anything. It is a 2 piece set so a ring guard doesn't work.... :(

  10. I am curious as more and more people have the band for a few years, how many more complications we are going to hear about. It really does scare me knowing I have silicone wrapped around my stomach. It doesn't seem natural and it worries me that eventually won't be safe.

I have had the band over 3 years now and I am doing great! I hate to put it this way--but people but silicone in other parts of their body and are just fine! :( It is the best thing I ever did for myself!

Most of the time I never even know it is there except for when I eat! I no longer graze like a cow or eat too much! LOVE IT!
