  1. Debi, I am currently on soft foods until next tuesday when I meet with my nutritionist and surgeon. For the most part I get my Protein from Protein Shakes, scrambled eggs, chicken, greek yogurt, and cheeses. I'm trying to stay pretty strict with getting in all my protein and fluids but I'm not that good at hitting my goals yet for either of them. I think one of the reasons for me not losing right now is I'm not having enough calories so I'm trying to focus on that for now.

I think your medication could definitely be a cause for your slower loss. You should check with your NUT or surgeon for a more solid answer. I hope that helps. :)

  2. Hi Debi, Just wanted to let you know that I am right with you. I was also sleeved on 5/15 and I have lost 19 lbs since surgery; however, including my preop diet I am down a total of 36 lbs. Did you lose anything preop? I've been counting my preop because if not I feel like I would also be a little disappointed with just my 19 lbs. I understand how you feel.

  3. Hey shrinkinmama, I actually went there last friday and my husband ordered a steak that came with mashed potatoes and it also came with a grilled skewer of shrimp, so I just had a couple of the shrimp from his meal. But my original plan was to order shrimp scampi. I had a TINY bite of one of the biscuits because who can resist them?? lol Hope that helps! :)

  4. I was required by my surgeon to have a sleep study done and I have no symptoms at all (not even snoring)! I tried to get out of it a couple of times, but the surgeons office kept insisting that I have it done. My surgeon had me have one done because I told her that my dad had sleep apnea and he uses the CPAP machine, but I didn't think it was needed because I knew I didn't have it.

Then I tried to call again to see if I really had to go (because like you said Bufflehead it it not cheap to have these tests done) and they told me that everyone who had a BMI over 50 had to get it done. That was the first time I heard that, but anyways I ended up having it done and $700 Later (that is my portion after insurance covered some of the cost) they told me I did not have sleep apnea. I hope you can get out of it since you really feel you don't need it. :)

  5. I would love one this is so smart. Also I was sleeved in may can I join the face book page?

    My email is: sereneerichsen@yahoo.com

Sure you can join our secret group :) Just go to Facebook and search for "Sharon Ivanauskas" (She is the one who started the group so she knows how to add people)

You can add her as a friend and then she will add you to our group. Just send her a message and let her know that you got her name from this site and that you are sleeved in May so she knows why you are asking her to be your friend. :)

  6. Hey everyone!

I recently posted this on our May Sleevers Secret Facebook Page, but I thought some people on here might be interested in it as well.

I have always been obsessed with organizing and making charts for everything!! So I made up a chart so that I can visually see how much weight I have lost and appreciate every single pound! I personally feel great when I get to take my marker and cross off another number that I know I will NEVER see again!!!! :)

On the left side of my chart I pretty much made a countdown from my highest weight to my goal weight so that each time I lose a pound I can cross off the number!! (It makes me happy....what can I say) lol

Then on the right side I broke it down by my weekly weigh in and then a monthly total from now until December. I attached a pic of the blank example and also the one I have currently filled out.

I created this in excel so if anyone is interested I can email it to you so you can alter it and create your own!! :) let me know what you think! :)

  7. Hi Everyone!!! Was just wondering if tic tacs are ok to have. I am pre-op (having surgery tomorrow!! Ahhhhh), but was just wondering if you guys think tic tacs are ok?? I definitely have the Protein breath going on (my husband informed me of this last week lol) so my first thought was to buy tic tacs.

I've had them since saturday and actually LOVE them because there are so many new flavors. :) By me I just bought strawberry Fields which is amazing and tastes like strawberry mashmellow gummies and I also got a flavor called wild cherry and it tastes like the pink heart from runts lol

So.... ok back to my question... are tic tacs ok to have pre and post op??????

  8. When I went for my sleep study I just went in my normal clothes (Someone else doing the study that night walked in with their PJs on lol Idk if thats how I was supposed to do it but I didn't lol) and then they just put on one of those hospital bracelets and took me to my room. They offered me a snack and something to drink.

Then my technician came in and told me she was finishing up setting up someone else and she would be right in to get me started. She asked me to change into my PJs and do anything I do before bed. So I changed and ate my snack and drink lol and brushed my teeth and just relaxed for a bit until she came back. They had a tv so I just watched some tv waiting for her to return. Then she came in and started putting the wires on me and the nose thingy. No biggie :) The wires did go through from the top through the pants to the legs. After she was all done I layed down. Having them put on the wires and setting everything up was not bad at all. After that she just left the room and tested the equipment. I had to raise my hand in the dark (I'm assuming for her to test the camera was working properly) and she asked me to pretend I was making a snoring noise lol so I did (I'm assuming to test sound or a mic or something lol) and that was it. Off to sleepy land!

Felt like I didn't sleep at all! But apparently I did! The wires on my left leg came off too like NJSharon so she just came in and fixed them. Then in the morning I heard her in a speaker in the room and she just said the sleep study was over. She came in and took off the wires and that was it!

I was told that if they saw something that indicated possible apnea they would come in the middle of the night and hook me up with the machine but they didn't do it. My results came back that I did not have sleep apnea. So that was good! I know it is long but I know when I was going for my sleep study I wanted to know every detail about what was going to happen lol Hope that helps! :)

  9. I am so with all of you! This liquid torture is horrible. I've been such a baby. My poor husband.... lol I literally get home from work at 6, grab a Protein shake from the fridge and go into the bedroom. He's on his own for dinner lol :P What does he expect? lol I'm not gonna make a delicious meal that I can't eat! pfft! lol

@shelleryn - I feel the same way about the "it'll be worth it" comment! lol I know people are just trying to be nice but they don't understand!!!! lol

    We can do it!!!

  10. @luvrkb No, he isn't my doctor. I was actually going to have the band by Dr. Washington about 3 years ago but everything didn't work out. Back then I was so upset it didn't work out but now I'm so happy that I didn't get it because I'm so excited about my sleeve!! My doctor is Dr. Schrope. I'm having it done at the Valley Hospital. :)

Can you all believe its only 6 days away!! OMG!
