~*~ WORKOUT Challenges and Chat Thread ~*~

I just wanted to say, "Hi!" I too find it useful to make fitness related goals. Back in November 09, I made the goal of auditioning to be a Jazzercise Instructor and finally reached that goal in June 10. Currently, I'm trying to work out a fitness goal/challenge for ab work, but haven't figured out what that might be. Good luck to you meeting your 100 mile goal!!!

    Water after working out

You'll have to see what works for you, but I find it really seems to help to keep well hydrated at all times and will try to drink quite a bit right before exercise (when I'm teaching aerobic class I try not to stop for sips, so this is necessary). I still have trouble, at a year out, guzzling. I can usually sip a water bottle pretty fast, but not the guzzle I used to do.

    Arm Exercises

I know doing dips on a chair and push-ups (girly ones) are good exercises for the arms. I'm only a year out and feel that my skin is still tightening up and has made big improvements in the past 6 months and hope that it will continue. BUT, I do have this loose skin right under my arms that I can sometimes hear flapping that will not go away without surgery, but that will never happen for me. Good luck to you!

  9. Just wanted to update everyone a bit. I haven't been on much at all, but my husband and I decided that domestic adoption is the way we are going to try to build our family. We are currently working through all of the home study paperwork and hopefully we'll get through it all within the next month or so. I want to thank everyone for your kind words, I really don't know how to express how much your thoughts and advice meant to me when posting this. The VSG has absolutely been one of the best things I've ever done for myself, and I know I will be so grateful to have the weight off when my dreams of motherhood finally come true. Good luck to everyone!
  10. One year ago I was on my drive to the hospital to have the VSG done. I remember how nervous I was and was just hoping and praying that this would work for me. The nurses had trouble getting the IV started and I wondered if that was a sign that this procedure wasn't for me. BUT, I'm happy to report that it totally was for me:thumbup: I'm going to post my monthly weight loss stats below. I want to thank everyone here on the board for their support and am so excited to see what year two will bring. Good luck to all those contemplating taking this step, hopefully you will come to the best decision for you! Pre-op diet (1 month): -16 pounds Month 1: -21 pounds Month 2: -15 pounds Month 3: -11 pounds Month 4: -13 pounds Month 5: -9 pounds Month 6: -4 pounds Month 7: -5.5 pounds (hit during this month) Month 8: -5.5 pounds (went below goal) Months 9-11: +/- 3 pounds Some pictures: The first swimsuit picture is what started it all. 1 Year Out Today!!!

Thank you all for the kind words! I pretty much eat 4-5 small meals a day. I no longer track anything, but make sure to take my Vitamins and if I ever have issues, I'll start tracking. Today (not the greatest example of quality eating:-) breakfast-Jimmy Dean's sausage Breakfast bowl (I ate about half) mid-morning snack-two pieces of a quesadilla leftover from last night lunch-salad and Soup (ate about a quarter of the salad and 1/3 of soup) dinner-6" sub from subway (can now eat most of it, but take off the top half of the bread) dessert-couple handfuls of chips, half a creamsicle (ate at two different times)

    consti ... pation

Definitely check with your surgeon, but mine had me take Miralax (sp?). It still took something like 7 or so days before I went, but eventually I had movement. Now, and since about 6 months out, I have the complete opposite problem with some bouts of constipation. Good luck!
  14. Hi, thank you so much for the compliment. I remember the beginning stage too and it really does go by fast. For exercise, I pretty much do Jazzercise 3-5 times per week and try to walk on the days I am not doing it. I actually made a fitness goal to become a Jazzercise instructor and managed to make it at the end of June.

Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions.

  15. Congratulations Ange!!!!! I'm so happy for you and your family:-)

  23. Thanks for the hug:-) We are actually looking into adoption as well and it's looking more and more like we'll pursue it much further. I'm just trying to keep all doors and windows open and figure out what is going on with my body.
