    Any July buddies?

I was sleeved in 2019 and now converting to bypass and hernia repair 7/14
  2. I am so excited to get this lap band removed. I was banded June 2012 and have had all kinds of problems and not allot of weight loss. I have been approved and my surgery date for the sleeve is October 7! 😀😁
  3. I was banded on 2/27/12 I was 250 pounds at the time. The band was great for a while. My lowest weight was 186. Then I started vomiting for no reason. So I went to a gastroenterologist he had me do two hida scans on my gallbladder and said one came out bad and one good. So he kept pumping me with reflux medication. I was so worried because I’ve learned one thing is you can not vomit. Then after this long year of vomiting i went to my PC and he said it’s your gallbladder it needs to be taken out . I was like what! The other doctor wouldn’t. Well my surgeon who did my realize band took it out and behold it was a giant thing. During the whole year of vomiting I got to 186 pounds. However the band was damaged. So while taking out the gallbladder the band had to be revised and the port stitched to my muscle. Well that lead to other issues. Now I am back at 230.l and not happy. Now I am getting a revision to the sleeve. My PC had been on me for years to take the band out due to so many issues. My surgeon that did the band doesn’t even do it anymore so i had to find a new surgeon that will remove the band and do the sleeve. Hopefully I will be having surgery in a couple of weeks. I am nervous all over again!

    October 2019 surgery peeps?

Congratulations on the surgery we were a day apart. Just follow whatever plan the doctor has laid out for you and you will be fine. I have been walking allot as well, it really does help with all things. I don’t have problems with pills, hot or cold water thank goodness. Make sure when the hospital and dietician calls you explain anything you are having difficulty with.
  5. I just had my band removed Monday and converted to sleeve. I had my band for 7 years. For me I lost about 80 but gained 30 back. I had it revised once due to vomiting because of my gallbladder. At that point they stitched it to my muscle and removed my gallbladder which now I wish they hadn’t stitched it to my muscles.I agree with the others in quality of life is diminished with the band for me. It took my surgeon 2 hours just to remove and get through scar tissue from the band. Sadly that means my recovery from this surgery is longer than most. I hope all goes well for you.

    3rd times a charm!

I had the lap band in 2012 I did loose some weight but I think that’s because I was vomiting every day for over a year. So I had my gallbladder removed in 2015 and Monday I had my lap band removed and converted to a sleeve. Doctors aren’t even doing the lap band much anymore.
  7. Yes, I had my gallbladder removed in 2015. Gas pain was horrible for me.
  8. I had surgery Monday and stayed overnight at the hospital my husband stayed with me. The gas pain was unreal! The worst thing ever for me. Walking , walking and walking is all that can be done. I’m back home and walking. Sleeping flat is not great. Thank goodness for my adjustable bed sitting up is best for me. This bowl has been great for measuring broth.

    October 2019 surgery peeps?

How is everyone doing on the liquid diet? I am having bad side affects, nausea and very bad headaches. 😞
  10. @Panda333 I did the exact same thing. The yogurt is tricky...I said to myself today is new day..we got this!! 😁
  11. @Panda333 I understand, I didn't do well yesterday either with the yogurt. Starting over today. I am sorry to hear about your bronchitis, I hope the steroids work. My pre-opt diet doesn't allow any meat or veggies. Really no food just liquids.
  12. I started the liquid diet today, I am so hungry 😋 ! How is everyone else doing ?

  16. I am having my lap band and revision to sleeve in one surgery on October 7th. Thank you 😊 all for your experiences.
  17. I have been a thick girl my entire life. I had the lap band in 2012 and lost 80 pounds but gained 30 back. The band has been nothing but a complication. So I am having it removed and replaced with the sleeve. I am nervous 😬 that I will loose too much weight and become skinny. My husband and I want me to be healthy. I’m am in tears over being skinny. I know this seems weird but I am really nervous. I have always been thick and afraid for how I will look after. What I I don’t like what I see what if I hate myself. I even cried today due to this fear. This is me now the second picture at 230 and the first one is at my lowest weight 186. My doctor wants me down to 130 I just can imagine that!!
  18. I was banded in 2012 and now I am doing a revision to the sleeve with insurance. I have Aetna and they pretty much approve anything. I did have a revision on the band in 2015 due to acid reflux and my gallbladder. After my gallbladder was removed I started to gain the weight I lost back and the band gives me horrible pain in the port. If possible I would see if your insurance shows the clinical information on what they approve for certain procedures and what the requirements are to get approved. Aetna has it where you just call them and tell them what you are trying to do and they give you a clinical id that tells you what you need to be approved. Based on that information I should be approved soon for my revision to the sleeve. I would just check with the insurance company and ask. I hope this helps.
  19. Thank you everyone for your kind words and understanding.I know some are going through much bigger things.
  20. Thank so much for sharing my surgeon is doing the same removing my band and doing the sleeve in one surgery. Best wishes to you.
  21. Hello Everyone, I was banded 2/27/2012. The band has been nothing but problems for me. My primary doctor has been wanting me to get this removed but I was scared. The doctor that did my lapband isn’t doing it anymore so I had to find another surgeon. I finally had my appointment with him and couldn’t be happier. I did loose some weight but back at 230. My lowest was only 186 in 2014. I am having a revision to the sleeve. Can’t wait for my surgery date but I am excited.

    February Bandsters?

Are you exercising? Also, try drinking a glass of Water before each meal so you can eat less. I know it gets frustrating as I get that way too! I have to remember to go back to the basics when I was loosing and start over. We all fall from time to time but we just have to get back up!

    February Bandsters?

Yesterday I saw the doctor, the last time I was their was 08/2012 and since I've lost 16 lbs.My band is a 11cc Realize band and I had 6 and 3/4 of fluid. He put one more cc for a total of 7 and 3/4 but he had a hard time getting it in so now I am swollen and very tight! He says I am loosing at a good pace. My one year is coming up next week I am so proud of myself! How is everyone else doing that was banded in 2012!
