  1. Just wanted to thank you again for the clothes, and I had a great time meeting up yesterday! I wasn't prepared for the clothes actually fitting me...but they do and they look good!

  2. Had a great time meeting up yesterday! Looking forward to next time.

  3. Great to meet you yesterday!

  4. Yes I remember that on my post op appt. with him I was allowed to go home and eat. It was the best scrambled egg I've ever tasted! Up until then it was just full liquids like protein shakes and soup. But I remember that even full liquids were more than a lot of others were allowed, since most surgeons only allow clears for much longer. Did you have surgery yet?

  5. Thanks! I finally feel like you can tell a difference...I can definitely feeeeel a difference.

  6. Hi! I'm doing fine, thanks! I'm not losing very quickly (down 28 since surgery) because I'm hungry all the time, which is getting so annoying. It really is very disappointing, because getting rid of hunger was my main motivation for the surgery. My hope is that it diminishes after 3 mos since some said that's when it kicked in for them. I can eat anything with no problems, can you? Some things are more uncomfortable to eat, but I haven't had any food intolerances or dislikes, have you? Do you count carbs and calories? Everyone seems so strict with carbs, but why have surgery just to have to follow the Atkins diet? I could have done that on my own. Tell me about you! How is your weight loss? I saw Zane last week, he said my loss was fine but I wan't more! Finally went shopping and went down 2 sizes which was fun for a change. I was hoping to be one of those who never gets hungry and forgets to eat.

  7. Hi Carrie,

This was actually my first surgery, so I don't have any other experience to compare it to. I had a hard time with nausea in the hospital so they kept me there 4 days, until I could drink more and had peed enough. I think I was unprepared for the agony of recovery and I know I felt regret at the time, but now that I'm healed I barely think about that. I've always been impressed by the efficiency at Kaiser facilities, and how everything is done so fast and by so many different people. I felt well cared for there. I never met Dr. Belzberg but Dr. Zane is THE expert at Kaiser in the bariatric dept. and I am very happy with my sleeve. I want to ask him how big my sleeve is though, because sometimes I feel like I can eat a lot, and I'm always hungry. Hope that goes away, as some say it went away for them at 3 months. Good luck with your surgery...what day will it be? I'm going there on 3/23 to see Dr. Zane for my follow up appt., maybe you'll be there then!

  8. So how's it going with eating mushies? There isn't too much I like so I eat mostly eggs, beans, yogurt, cheese, potatoes and applesauce. How about you? What are you eating? I've lost 15lbs and came back to work today. Let me know how you're doing.

    Peggy

  9. I think it will go away pretty soon. I held my belly for several days too, but today, 2 weeks out, I can hardley tell I had surgery. Just rest, really rest and you will heal. Hope you feel better soon.

  10. Oh yeah, I do feel better, thanks. How was your post op appt.? Did he clear you for food yet? How much have you lost? I'm down about 11 lbs and sick of protein shakes and soup. Sure would like to chew something. It's still hard to tell when I'm full or hungry since when you're sipping constantly, isn't it? Let me know how you're doing.

  11. I got home last night. I had to stay longer in the hospital because of the nausea. I wasn't able to drink enough and keep it down. Recovery was awful, glad to be home but kind of regret getting the surgery. I didn't anticipate feeling this bad. The gas pains are still bad, I don't know if or when I'm supposed to eat or drink, I have to carry my stomach around when I walk or the big incision burns too bad and I don't even care about losing weight anymore. Even after telling Dr. Zane many many times I can't tolerate codeine, he sent me home with the Tylenol 3 anyway...?? WTF? My husband's at the store now looking for some ibuprofen I can swallow.

I know it will get better and I will change my mind, but for now I wish someone would have talked me out of this. I just don't think it's worth all this discomfort. Diet and exercise would have been easier.

Sorry to unload, but wanted to let you know I'm home. Hopefully I'll cheer up next time I write.

  12. Wow that's awesome that you lost 10lbs already! I bought a bunch of protein powder, hope I still like them after surgery. I'm waiting for my call today and hope I go in early tomorrow. Those blood thinner shots you mentioned...did they do that after surgery or during? I'll keep you posted when I get home, probably Thursday! And thanks for all the info, it really helps.

  13. Well my first question has been answered, 2 days I see! Was the pain bad? Was there a leak test? Did you heave? Do we wear underwear during surgery? Any catheter? Did they let hubby in the prep area before the surgery? Oh, aren't you so glad it's over??? Congratulations!

  14. OMG that pre-op appt. was nothing. I think I was outta there in 15 minutes. And I took the whole day off for that (for the driving mostly). Tomorrow's IT for you, isn't it? You must be freaking out. I'm starting to really get nervous. But we can't really get any sympathy from anyone since we are asking for this surgery, huh? Good luck tomorrow. I will be thinking of you! Post when you can. I want to know everything.

  15. Hi Lynda,

I'm in Corona too. Just wanted to say hello and see how you're doing since your sleeve surgery...how much have you lost?

    Peggy

  16. Oh I thought you would have seen Dr. Zane for final instructions or something. What was the EKG like? I've never done one. How long were you there? Did you lose any weight this week? I'm curious to see how many days we are staying. OMG it's getting close and this is really happening. Keep me posted!

  17. Hi Stratus!

Congrats to you too on getting started. I lost the 30 lbs during 6 mos of weight classes required by Kaiser. It went on forever. My weight came off easy because it was new weight I had just put on from quitting smoking the previous year. At least that's my explanation, cuz I've never been that successful before! Now that my surgery is about 18 days away, yes I am extremely excited...but I've been heavy for so long that my mind won't let me believe that it's actually going to work. Good luck on your journey!!

  18. OMG I just noticed that you sent your message so long ago! I'm so sorry I didn't even notice it before! Duh. Hey better late than never I guess. Sorry, you must have thought I was a beeeahhhch...ha ha.

  19. Hi Newday!

I hear ya. I thought those classes would never end. And then I thought the surgeon's office would never call. Now my surgery is just 18 days away...ack!

I think you'll be fine with the weight. You just need to get into a groove now that the holidays are over. I think I gained 5 lbs since Thanksgiving. I let myself eat anything and now paying for it. Keep at it and start walking more and you'll start losing. Which Kaiser are you going to?
