  1. Hey... I'm thinking of your. How was the surgery? How are you feeling today? Mine went very well... they found that I had a hernia while they were putting the band on so they corrected that. I woke up this morning and about 80% of the gas pain was gone. Now I'm on to port site pain and itching.

I havent had any issue with vomiting. When I first woke up I was REALLY dizzy and disoriented. Here and there I feels like I have a huge lump in my throat and it turns out it's a big gas bubble.

How much did you end up losing on the pre-op diet? I lost 15lbs. I am SO excited to be starting this journey! And how cool that we're both doing it at the same time. I look forward to keeping track of each other.

  2. Hi Tina. Actually, My name is Debi. SewKnotty is a play on words cause I sew and I knit. Funny tho... my mom's name is Sue.

I'd love to be friends. It'll be nice following people going thru the same journey. Are you on your pre-op diet yet? Where are you located? Are you nervous? Am I asking too many questions? :)

  3. 1/27 will be my 7th day on the pre-op diet and is also my pre-op appointment. I am not quite as restricted as you are. In the mornining I have a shake and I can have 4oz of fruit. So I end up adding a banana to the shake and a handful of blueberries. Lunch I'll have a shake and either an apple or a hard boiled egg. Dinner I'll have 4oz of protein, 4oz of Veg and a Tbl spoon of "healthy oil". So far I've lost 13 lbs in 6 days!!

People keep saying "why dont you just keep doing your pre-op diet and dont do the operation" They just dont get it... my FOCUS is this surgery. That's why I'm being successful on the pre-op diet. If I go this alone I'll learn zero good eating habits and I'll cheat. I do every time.

Will you have to stay overnight? What did he say about the surgery? I'm very excited for my appointment. I cant wait to go down my loooooong list of questions. LOL

  4. I'm on the pre-op diet which is almost totally liquid for 2 weeks. I am not self pay... Ins takes care of this but my co-pay should total around $1500. $10000 isn't bad at all. About what my surgeon charges for self pay. He said he has a payment plan for the selfers too.

I'm glad you ahve a lot of support. It's very important. I do too... my husband is being very supportave and so are my friends and family. Work isnt being as nice... but they just dont like that I'm taking a week off and not using vacation, I'm using sick days. HA HA... suckers!

I live in Tracy, Ca. In fact... if you do a google search for Bank of America, Tracy Ca... we had an attempted take over robbery today. It was scary. But we're all thankfully ok. What do you do for work? Anything as dangerous as being a banker?? LOL

  5. REALLY!!!??? Well it'll be VERY fun to keep track of each other! How are you doing on your pre-op diet?

  6. I'm getting VERY excited!! Today was day one of my pre-op diet. It was A LOT easier than I expected it to be... but I'm not sure I'll be saying that in a week. The hardest part is eating something lame when my family is eating something awesome. But... that'll be the nature of the band, right? So I gotta get used to it. I look forward to hearing how your appointment goes. Have you been doing any sort of research or prep. to get ready for this whole thing? Are you self pay or insurance?? How about wife and fam? Do you feel you'll be supported? Let me know when the 20 questions get tiring. LOL

  7. I think your blogs are great! I am being banded on Feb 3rd and got an enormous supply of info and tips from your post surgery blog. Thank you for that. If anything I'll be off to the store for some tidy bowl cause silly me, I didnt think about a full scour of the lou!

So thank you again. I look forward to keeping up with our progress as i embark on my own journey. :)

  8. Hi, I saw you on the Feb 2010 board. We have the same doctor!! I'm being banded Feb 3rd by Dr. Coirin. If you're just now haveing Orientation, how are you being banded in Feb? Are you self pay? I had Orientation in March 2009 and my insurance made me journal for 6 months, get a psych eval, go to a dietician and finally I was approved last week for my surgery in Feb.

Since we're being banded by the same surgeon at about the same time we should keep track of each other. Have they started you on the pre-op diet yet?

  9. I've being banded Feb 3rd and thought we could keep track of each other. I think you're pretty funny. :)

  10. Hey Belle! We're being Banded the same day and have very similar stats. Thought it would be fun to keep track of each other!

  11. Hi!! My name is Debi and i saw you in the Feb 2010 board. I'm being banded on Feb 3rd. I thought it would be fun to keep track of each other since we're being banded only 5 days apart.

  12. I'm both nervous AND excited at the same time. I'm reading about what other people's experiences are in the first few weeks and some have no problem at all and others have refered to it as hell. Umm... I'm hoping for the first option. LOL I start my pre-op diet on the 20th. Actually right now I'm more worried about that. No band will be there to help me with the pre-op diet so I think it's going to be hard.

Raiders huh? Does that mean your in Cali? Have you been banded yet?

  13. I saw your before pics. Good luck with your surgery. I get banded on Feb 3. Hope to see you on here so we can keep track of each other's progress. :)
