  1. I'm on the pre-op diet which is almost totally liquid for 2 weeks. I am not self pay... Ins takes care of this but my co-pay should total around $1500. $10000 isn't bad at all. About what my surgeon charges for self pay. He said he has a payment plan for the selfers too.

I'm glad you ahve a lot of support. It's very important. I do too... my husband is being very supportave and so are my friends and family. Work isnt being as nice... but they just dont like that I'm taking a week off and not using vacation, I'm using sick days. HA HA... suckers!

I live in Tracy, Ca. In fact... if you do a google search for Bank of America, Tracy Ca... we had an attempted take over robbery today. It was scary. But we're all thankfully ok. What do you do for work? Anything as dangerous as being a banker?? LOL

  2. REALLY!!!??? Well it'll be VERY fun to keep track of each other! How are you doing on your pre-op diet?

  3. I'm getting VERY excited!! Today was day one of my pre-op diet. It was A LOT easier than I expected it to be... but I'm not sure I'll be saying that in a week. The hardest part is eating something lame when my family is eating something awesome. But... that'll be the nature of the band, right? So I gotta get used to it. I look forward to hearing how your appointment goes. Have you been doing any sort of research or prep. to get ready for this whole thing? Are you self pay or insurance?? How about wife and fam? Do you feel you'll be supported? Let me know when the 20 questions get tiring. LOL

  5. I think your blogs are great! I am being banded on Feb 3rd and got an enormous supply of info and tips from your post surgery blog. Thank you for that. If anything I'll be off to the store for some tidy bowl cause silly me, I didnt think about a full scour of the lou!

So thank you again. I look forward to keeping up with our progress as i embark on my own journey. :)

    Hey February 2010 Bandsters!

Hi Guys! Glad to have found you. I've been working to get my surgery for YEARS now and finally this is it! Less than a month to go!! #1. Surgery date? Feb 3rd #2. State you live in? Northern Cali #3. Doctor/Surgery Center? Dr. Coiran / Valley Surgical Center #4. Insurance or self pay? Insurance ($1500 co-pay) #5. Age and height Turning 34 on the 16th. 5'2" #6. Current weight and goal weight? 262lbs 135 goal #7. What was your deciding factor for having this surgery? Lots of deciding factors. The biggest one is because I have MS. I know that if you're heavy you have more recurrances and I'm trying to stay as healthy as I can without drugs. I am also VERY active and athletic. There is no real reason that I'm as heavy as I am. It's VERY annoying to want to ride my bike farther, faster, harder and I just cant. I cant wait until next year when I do the big ride for MS but I dont have to walk up every hill. Oh... and the ass wiping this will be nice too. LOL. #7. Do you have the support of family and friends? Absolutely. I'm not hiding it from anyone, I'm very proud of myself for taking this step and if anyone reacts with negativity then they can kick rocks. #8. Concerns and questions? I am a bevy of questions and concerns. I know I've made the right decission, but I am also afraid of the "what if's" with surgery. I'm scared that I will find a way to sabotage myself. Lets face it, I've done that with every other diet i've been on. I have a big fear of throwing up. I really hope I can figure out my eating without trial and error via vomiting. That would really suck. I'm very excited to be here with all of you. This will be an awesome journey and I'm glad we have each other to support. Deb
  7. Hi, I saw you on the Feb 2010 board. We have the same doctor!! I'm being banded Feb 3rd by Dr. Coirin. If you're just now haveing Orientation, how are you being banded in Feb? Are you self pay? I had Orientation in March 2009 and my insurance made me journal for 6 months, get a psych eval, go to a dietician and finally I was approved last week for my surgery in Feb.

Since we're being banded by the same surgeon at about the same time we should keep track of each other. Have they started you on the pre-op diet yet?

  8. I've being banded Feb 3rd and thought we could keep track of each other. I think you're pretty funny. :)

  9. Hey Belle! We're being Banded the same day and have very similar stats. Thought it would be fun to keep track of each other!

    Debi

  10. Hi!! My name is Debi and i saw you in the Feb 2010 board. I'm being banded on Feb 3rd. I thought it would be fun to keep track of each other since we're being banded only 5 days apart.

  11. I'm both nervous AND excited at the same time. I'm reading about what other people's experiences are in the first few weeks and some have no problem at all and others have refered to it as hell. Umm... I'm hoping for the first option. LOL I start my pre-op diet on the 20th. Actually right now I'm more worried about that. No band will be there to help me with the pre-op diet so I think it's going to be hard.

Raiders huh? Does that mean your in Cali? Have you been banded yet?

    BikeMS 150 Event Sept 12-13 2009

On September 12th and 13th I lead Team MSdefy thru two days and 100 miles along Northern California's wine country. I was at my all time heaviest weight of 255 lbs at the time of the ride. But I finished both days, and I finished faster than I did the year before.
  13. I saw your before pics. Good luck with your surgery. I get banded on Feb 3. Hope to see you on here so we can keep track of each other's progress. :)

  14. I JUST got my approval a few hours ago and my date was set for Feb. 3rd. I'm SO freaking excited! I've been working almost a year for this. Between orientations, 6 months of journaling, psych eval, dietician, blood work... etc... finally I'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Anyone doing any pre-surgery research on the best ways to get the protine you need in?
