  1. How is everyone doing? How much weight have you lost? What has been the most exciting change? What has been frustrating? I am down 53 lbs since surgery. To me, I would like more. I have accepted that I am a slow loser. Currently I am in a two month stall. I track my food and exercise. I am doing everything that my doctor has told me to do. So, I am a little frustrated. I also have PCOS so that may be factoring in. On the plus side, I am only 5 lbs away from my lowest band weight! So my sleeve and I have accomplished in 7 months what it took me three years to do with the band. Plus, I love that I do NOT have that stuck feeling anymore!!! Overall it has been a wonderful experience. I am happy with my revision choice. I just wish I had done it sooner!!!

    Does insurance paid for revision?

I was a band to sleeve revision. I had no problems with my insurance company (and I even switched surgeons and hospitals). I had my removal and revision in one surgery on June 10th. The whole revision process took me 4 months. I had to have my physicians approval, blood work, an EKG and a new psych eval because my last one was in 2009.

    June 2013 Sleevers GROUP

I had 10 days of liquids,(jello & popsicles included) and then 2 weeks of soft foods. I will be a month out next week and I can resume a normal diet. I didn't have to do purees. I have had no intolerances, nausea, or vomiting. I was also told no baths or swimming pools for ten days post op. Isn't it crazy that we are all being told such different things?

To All My Fellow June Sleevers........

I went to my first post op appointment today. I am down 16 lbs!!!!!!! I have been moved to a stage two diet. Basically it consists of soft foods. I was told to drink one Protein shake a day and eat three small meals with 64 oz of liquids in between. I was so excited. I went home and had 2oz of refried Beans with low fat cheddar cheese sprinkled on top. I topped it with a spoonful of fat free sour cream. While preparing I thought this looks like such a small amount. I put into a finger food sized bowl. It was DELICIOUS!!!!!! I had no trouble getting it down. And....... it filled me right up! It took me about 20 minutes to finish it. I paced myself. For dinner, I mashed up a banana and mixed it with creamy low fat Peanut Butter. Another winner!!!!!! I was so happy with myself that I even cooked dinner and sat with my family as they ate. I wasn't hungry one single bit! Every day just gets better and better!!! I am so glad that I decided on this revision. I went through such a hard time after my lapband slipped that I almost decided against another operation. So thankful for the support of my husband and family.

To All My Fellow June Sleevers........

I am drinking Protein shakes by Chike. There are 28g of protein in 7oz. I am mixing in fat free milk for an additional 8 grams. That totals 72g in just two shakes!!!! I love love love the banana and orange creme flavors. I also enjoy the coffee one but can't have it yet post surgery. I also have EAS from Walmart but they are only 17g per 11oz.

To All My Fellow June Sleevers........

I had a very good day! I snuck into work. (My Dr has me out for a month.) I am a teacher so I wanted to give my students their last report cards. Plus it was Activity Day. They were so happy to see me! I then went grocery shopping for stage 2 foods. I have a Dr appointment tomorrow and I should be moved up diet wise. I am not hungry but my tummy sounds angry. It keeps making these deep rumbling noises. It is ready to get some food! I had some egg drop Soup. Delicious!!!!!! I followed lunch up with a 1.5 mile walk. I feel 100% like myself!!!!!!!

    From Surgery - Week 1

My revision surgery was on June 10th 2013. I arrived at the hospital at 10 am. My surgery was was set to begin at noon. However due to an emergency, he was called away. We didn't get started until 1:45. I remember being rolled into the operating room. The next thing I remember was waking up in my room. It was 9:40 at night. Dr. Simon had no trouble removing my slipped lap-band and constructing my new sleeve. He was happy to report that I had little damage from the band. No hernias. Minimal scarring. At first I felt like I was hit by a train. But, the pain meds they gave me worked well and I slept throughout the night. The next morning I was up walking. I walked 1.5 miles. I passed my water test and was then brought my lunch. (Tea, chicken broth, and jello) I had minor discomfort. But I was exhausted. I slept most of the day. The following day I was released. I was sent home with a PPI and a pain med. Once home I put myself on a schedule and continued to sip sip sip. I have had no issues with my sleeve. It likes both hot and cold liquids. I also have had no nausea or gas pain. In fact, I felt so good that I stopped taking my pain meds after two nights at home. I just didn't need them. I am one week post op. I am down 14 lbs!!!!!!! I am on liquids until Wednesday. Then I get to move to mushies!!!! I can't wait to have some refried beans. I am not hunger but every time I see a Taco Bell commercial I crave Mexican. HEAD HUNGER!!!! (Oh and by the way..... I hate Taco Bell! But, if I don't get some real food soon I might just lick a taco shell!) Oh..... I forgot one major thing. I had an allergic reaction to the surgical glue. Very painful and itchy. My incision sites were all blistered up by day three. I have to take Benadryl around the clock. It is however, healing nicely. Well, I wish I had more to report. It has actually been pretty uneventful. May your surgery go as well as mine!
  12. One week post-op and down 14 lbs!!!!!!!

    June sleevers?

To All My Fellow June Sleevers........

I had my surgery six days ago. I continue to do well. I continue to get in all of my protein and liquids. I have no hunger. I stopped all of my pain meds. I don't need them. This maybe be too much info....but I have moved my bowels three times. I have no issues with gas or diarrhea. Even my allergic reaction is clearing up. All in all life is good.

To All My Fellow June Sleevers........

Well I am already three days post op. I continue to do well. I have no hunger. I am able to get in all my fluids and protein. I just set myself up a schedule and sip sip sip all day. I am still tired but not as much as yesterday. I have mild pain when changing position from laying to standing. My big problem is that I have developed an allergy to the surgical glue. My whole tummy is red and inflamed. Some spots are blistered. Ice packs help. I have to call in the am to see if I can take some Benedryl for the itch. Other than that it has been smooth sailing. I am so lucky. Because I was a band to sleeve revision, there was a greater chance for complications. I really thought it would be much worse.
