I agree that you should go see your lap band doctor. It is NOT failure until you quit trying. We all have life situations and bumps in the road. Find your green zone and stay positive.

I haven't lost in 3 months due to some poor choices. I went back to my doctor and he was like No Biggie! Gave me a fill. Go back to your doctor and see what they say. The beauty with the band is you can do that!

pizza isn't what made me fat.....Eating a whole large pizza(s) in the past, was one of the reasons I was over 300 pounds. I'm 6 years post op now and I eat pizza occasionally. Matter of fact we had some this past Saturday evening from a local place that makes them in a wood fired oven, super thin crust...with a nice cold beer. YUM! Things that would make a dieter cringe! But I'm way past all that.... My lapband has helped change my life
PS. My "skinny" friends eat pizza, they drink a beer, have some wine, eat ice cream, etc. It's all about the VOLUME of calories I used to eat...day in and day out. Many, many more than I was burning.

catfish87 reacted to brandnewme15 in So irritated from my last fill
I've been banded 5 years. Got to goal, got too tight, then had band emptied.
I am slowly refilling it. It does good until it hits 6 cc's. At that point fills are hell.
I had a fill Tuesday that brought me to 6.4 cc's. As I expected, my band is pretty irritated. This always happens for me. Post fill it can take 8 to 10 days before I can eat solid foods again.
It's not that there is too much Fluid in the band, it's just that my band/stomach swells up from the actual fill.
Does this happen to any of you?

I say cut them some slack. Not everybody is good at everything, some people are good at math, but have poor writing skills. Another may remember historical facts very well, but struggle with spelling, punctuation, etc. On this board, a persons poor writing skills might be pretty obvious, but what you're not seeing are that persons other skills, important things like kindness, a giving heart, good manners, positive attitude and willingness to help others. Just sayin '.

I did it.....The OLD MAN did it!!!
St. Kitts, climbed a Volcano, over 3000 feet through a Tropic Rain forest.
I am 63 years old, the next age was a couple who were 42...after that everyone was in their 20's and 30's.
We broke up in 3 groups of 12...if you were falling behind, you would drop back a group. If a group was slowing you down, then you moved up a group. Took us 3 hours to get to the summit.
I started in the first group, and stayed there.
Half of the 2nd group didn't make it, and we never saw the 3rd group...they all quit.
I go to the gym 4-5 days a week, run 5 &10 K's, but THIS was probably the toughest Challenge I have done in 20 years!!!
That's why I did it...to prove it to myself!
Yes, I was once morbidly obese, had diabetes, heart trouble, etc etc.
Five years ago I could not climb the stairs in my house without getting short of breath.
Am I bragging?? You Bet!! And it is all because of the Lap Band Surgery!!!
(Next day I jumped off a 45ft cliff into the crystal clear Caribbean....no one else would do it)

catfish87 got a reaction from my_new_lifetime in hiring a house cleaner
I pay $115 every two weeks for the couple that clean my house....and I think thats reasonable. I used to pay $150 once per month. There are two cleaners that come for about 2-3 hours. They do floors, sinks, counters, dust everything, bathrooms, etc. They do not do dishes (there aren't ever any), laundry, outside of windows on a normal basis. Once a year they come and "deep clean"....that's $300. I've used a house cleaner for the last 3 years or so. I work 60+ hours per week and CHOOSE to utilize my time at home for other things besides cleaning.

Do you work and earn your own money? If so, why can't you just hire one with your own money?

I sense your housekeeper is alot faster! This lady would be $80 for a half day, only due to her boyfriend/childcare schedule she seems to be only available for short increments. Maybe I should give it a few more visits and see if once we get a rythym going re-evaluate?
I like a clean house too, but I have so many other things to do! I have to hire some help, and truth is I love doing my outdoorsy work - at least when the weather is nice!

I pay my housecleaner $120 for a half-day visit every other week. She does all the mopping and vacuuming, cleans surfaces (counters, tables, etc.), makes the bed, picks/up organizes anything I've left lying around, does any dishes I've left, does laundry of sheets/towels/rags stuff like that (not my personal clothes), cleans the coffee maker and other small appliances, cleans showers/tubs/toilets/mirrors. I also give her an extra $20 to change the kitty litter if I don't feel like doing it that week (I have 2 large litter boxes for my cats). Twice a year I have her come in for additional special work, such as shampooing carpets, cleaning the fridge and stove, washing windows, taking everything out of my kitchen cabinets and cleaning the cabinets and throwing away expired food, etc. We just work out a reasonable price for that.
I love having a housekeeper. I am a lousy housekeeper but I enjoy having a clean house. I make sacrifices in other areas so I can afford her. Plus I enjoy her as a person and she also helps out on as-needed basis with overnight pet sitting and things like that.

I cannot express how happy I am today. We went on a 7 day cruise to Alaska and I did not even gain one lb. First time in my life that I did not pack on at least 10 lbs while on vacation. A Cruise ship as you know has tons of food everywhere, but my band kept me in check. I ate a good bit of fish and some veggies. Did not do the Pasta or pizza . I did eat some frozen yogurt and one night I had lobster ravioli which was really light and delicious but couldn't eat the whole portion. I even drank some wine with dinner. One of the best things was riding horses in Skagway and watching whales in Juneau. I walked all over the ship everyday I explored . My niece and her husband joined us on the trip from Vegas, they are both younger than I am but both are out of shape. They said I was like the eveready bunny and they couldn't keep up. I cannot tell you how different I am today than 3 years ago. I am living the life I want and feel like a million bucks. I am so thankful for my lapband . horseback riding in Skagway was great.

So tonight I finished the 9 week c25k training program. 9 weeks and 45 miles!!! I'm SO damn proud of myself!!!
As I was doing my cool down I was feeling nostalgic. Tonight I walked out of the house with my headphones and told the kids I'd be back. I recall a time the kids were too young to be able to leave, making finding time to exercise hard. And then I was thankful that despite being 'super morbidly obese,' (side note I just thought of the acronym SUMO... ugh, I hate that even more!!!) my knee and joints don't ache. It all made me realize that I picked the best time possible time in my life to have this surgery.
Well now I'm gonna work at bettering my pace and time, but guess I'll look for a new form of exercise to add in too.

If I'm going riding (hard) for more than an hour, I'll sometimes have a GU gel or chews about 45 minutes into the ride, and then about every 45 minutes thereafter. Or I just use full strength gatorade type drinks. I use Gu Gels more when running than I do when cycling. I can "eat" real food (bananas, nuts, Jerky, clif bars, etc) while cycling.
