Jacqbult got a reaction from nataliearias in Has anyone become single as a result of their weight loss surgery?
I was in a relationship like this, kinda. I was sick of being unsure of where things were going when I knew where I wanted them to go. I finally just said...I want more from a relationship and we are wasting each others time. I went on to say the ball ins in his court and moved back to my Apt full time. With in 2 weeks he was back and committed and we have been married for 14 yrs.

Jacqbult got a reaction from weightlossmama2 in Looking for a " Dear God let me get approved" Pal
I am lucky I guess. I have been working with my Dr. for losing weight for a long time. I finally said F-IT and went to see the WLS Dr. Mid Sept because I was fed up! I had all my appointments done within two weeks. I had to wait 2 more weeks (about) for my Insurance to say okay. So I only had one month from deciding I wanted this surgery to Approval. I think that is one reason I am a bit freaked out. I had done my 6 months of dieting before I even thought about WLS. they are saying that the surgery is about 3 weeks out.

    I will not MISS!
Chaffing ~ thighs and upper arms
Heaving myself out of a chair
Bending over to tie my shoe only to be stopped 6inches away by my stomach
The 4 different sizes of fat clothes that stuff my closet
Laying in bed looking at my stomach and thinking that must be the blanket bunched up, only to find out is all me when I go to poke the blanket down.
Being a contortionist to keep myself "clean" (sorry, but true and we all know it! LOL)
    Disappointment in my husbands eyes.
Being to tired to keep up with my children
    Not having my picture taken
The list goes on and on!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Gang! How's everyone doing? I hope everyone is feeling good.
Let's do a light hearted topic... It has been over two months since our surgery. What is one of the positive things you have noticed?
I live in Center City Philadelphia. I work outside of the city so normally I drive to work. This week we had a meeting in the city. At the end of the meeting, I started walking to a street where I knew I could pick up a cab. The next thing I knew, I walked all the way home - - - 3.5 miles! It did not phase me one bit. And, it wasn't a conscious decision. I just started walking and the next thing I know I was home. It felt so good. No back aches, no knee soreness... Way cool!!!

Like others, I have been told I would be so pretty if I just lost weight and one man I knew said " What is the matter with you?? Why would someone so beautiful, let themselves get so overweight". Yeah, I won't miss that. It is as if people feel they have the right to point out your weight flaws!

I am so glad I found this topic. Of course it wasn't too hard since I, too, had my surgery on 11-24 . I've been feeling a little discouraged lately because of my stall. I lost 30 pounds within the first 3 1/2 weeks post-op. I'm now almost 8 weeks out and I've lost nothing since that loss (fortunately no gains either). What I've read here gives me hope that my RNY wasn't in vain. Thanks to you all!!

Okay. That sucks. Really, don't give up hope yet! Many times the Dr can help during that peer conversation. Make sure to tell the Dr ANY thing that your weight is effecting..knees, hips, breathing. Cholesterol. Fingers crossed for you! If for any reason you still get denied gain a bit of weight and re submit. Keep us posted!

Jacqbult reacted to galadriel535 in Question...do you look older after your weight loss?
This was my fear: I am only at the start of my journey, got sleeved on 12-23. I have lost 22 pounds since 12-10, and look very saggy to me in the mirror. So anyway I took my 22 year old kid to whole foods and we were looking at sushi: I was going to buy her some for dinner. I said wistfully "I wish I could have sushi". (I am in the puree phase.) :/ This guy standing next to us looked at me and said, "But you can't , since you are pregnant and it is bad for the baby, right?" I burst out laughing hysterically and said "Bless you for thinking that is possible!" (I am 62. MY 33 year old daughter is pregnant with my first grandchild! ) So the God of my understanding has a wonderful sense of humor....I took this to mean that I should not worry about looking like the crypkeeper when I get to my goal weight. LOL.

    you look great "youngun "
iMO - as people are losing weight, reach goal
they do look better than "before"
in other words a heavy person with an younger looking face will probably look older in general
but a person who is at a good weight - will look younger than before WLS
    kathy
    congrats

Thanks you guys!!! I wonder if I am eating too little. I increased my calories the past 2 days and this morning I dropped 2 lbs.
I know that stepping on the scale everyday is wrong but I can't help it....it taunts me...."step on me, STEP ON ME!" and there I go, like a puppy scampering to get a treat. LOL.
SO glad I have my November Girls!

Is it possible that your surgeon was being sarcastic? At your bmi, research says sleeve should take all of your excess weight. I am 1month out. I spent first 2 weeks at 200sleeping 14 hours a day. At 600 I am able to function and remember my name. I think 800 is where I will try to hang for weight loss.

That's called a starvation diet. Short term - say a month or so - you'll lose serious weight. Long term - like for a year -you will develop significant health problems and possibly won't survive.

I asked if you were self pay. I suspected as much because no psychologist would sign off you on getting surgery. You aren't thinking clearly. Calories aren't the enemy. Unhealthy foods are. Trying to get your body surgically altered so you're in a constant state of malsbsorption is slow suicide. Trying to find out the minimum calories you can survive on is disordered thinking. We are not all friends and family. My friends on this board are those who are actively trying to live a healthier lifestyle. I would strongly encourage you to speak to someone who specializes in eating disorders BEFORE you have surgery of any sort.

I'm eating around 800-1000 a day. It seems like if I eat less than that for a few days I stall.

I saw my dr today and he told me that my 25 pound loss in 6 weeks is perfect. I had a Lapband before and he said that x-lapbander tend to loose a little slower but that's okay. I'm 2 pounds away from my lowest on the band. Woo hoo. He also reminded me that 25 in 6 weeks is significant and keep doing what I'm doing. Protein and Water are the key he said. We also talked about alcohol. He said anything carbonated is out. A little wine is fine but to never drive even if I have one because absorption is so much quicker and higher that I may feel sober but would blow way over the limit and would probably be more impaired then I realized. And it's empty extra calories.
As far as Vitamins. chewables or gummies. I have Chewables at work in case I forget my gummies in the mornings. I feel like they've really helped with feeling tired.
I had some overcooked chicken nye and ended up vomiting it all plus up. It was hard to eat anything the next 2 days. Dr said when that happens revert to softer foods for a day or too. Baby my tummy basically.
I feel like sometimes on forcing myself to eat. Need to stop that. Other than that all is well.

    Hi everybody,
Sorry about the long absence. During the holidays I stalled for almost 3 weeks - sooooo discouraging. I don't think anything would have helped - my body just needed time. I started seeing the scale move down 3 days ago, so feeling better.
