  1. You sure as heck should be and can be proud of your success. I firmly believe that having the sleeve is only part of the equation. The majority of this journey relies on US, and our determination.

Many cheers to you DeeDee ! ! !

  2. Give a quick call to your doc. I was able to take meds without restriction post op, but your doc may have different recommendations.

I ended having to go on Ambien to get good sleep. I didn't use the control released version, and had zero negative side effects with usage. I only used it every other, every 2-3 nights sometimes. But, when I did use it, those nights were the best nights of sleep I ever had in my life.

  3. You're doing so great Rob ! ! !

Tuna/chicken/egg salad, I made mine with miracle whip, you can also make it with greek yogurt or a little bit of Ranch dressing. Refried beans with cheese, the ricotta bake in the recipe section on the forum seems to be popular. I've also heard of people mixing peanut butter with ricotta and that it tastes like cheesecake.

    Keep it up Rob ! ! !

  4. Congrats on getting your date. I always give the same advice.

Stop drinking and eating at the same time now so it isn't so hard to do once you have surgery.

Take tiny bites now, and mentally prepare that your bites will be 1/4 of the size we are used to eating.

Try to prepare mentally for this life changing surgery even thought we think we're ready, there's always something that surprises us.

Enjoy this time. Don't be surprised if you find yourself having "food funerals". I had to remind myself that the post-op diet is just temporary, and at some point, I would be able to have my favorites just in smaller portions.

Order some protein samples for post-op. A lot of us experienced changes in our tastes, and things we liked pre-op were horrible post-op. So, don't stock up on big canisters of protein because you may not be able to tolerate them post-op.

    You're gonna do great.

  5. Rob, it sounds like you're doing great. On the multi ask if you can maybe crush it up into yogurt or sugar free pudding, or maybe mix it in those soups or shakes. The one thing about a lot of those children vits is they lack a decent amount of iron, and Vitamin D.

    Keep on working your sleeve.

  6. Absolutely amazing DeeDee ! ! ! I can't even tell you how much you have meant to me over this almost year now. Seriously, you're amazing, and truly an inspiration.

  7. This brought on some sniffles and watering eyes. I can only imagine the pain you are experiencing, not just physically, but emotionally as well.

The sleeve is a fabulous tool. It's given me a great life, and I wish the same for you.

    Congrats on getting your date.

  8. YAY for finding a new protein, what's the carb count on those? And, is the calcium citrate or carbonate?

I got totally screwed on Mother's day too. My kid wanted to play outside with the neighbor kid all day, my husband was worn out from playing softball for about 8 hours on Saturday, and he is sunburnt to a crisp, so he felt horrible, I got nada for Mother's day. And, the kiddo ruined going out to dinner by being a jackas$ and not coming home when he was supposed to be home. Dad grounded him, and we had italian delivered which is not what I wanted, but I didn't want to cook.

Sorry for the hijack, but I wanted to let you know we can be bitter about Mother's day 2010 together.

  9. Yeppers, it's been tested 3 times, at 6 months, 8 months, and then again at 9 months.

It's gotten a bit better. I had thought the same thing that my thyroid has gone crazy. But, all of the tests have come back within normal limits. I've been holding steady since April 19th. I actually gained 3-4 pounds then I started my period and I'm losing those pounds pretty quickly again.

I think my body is finally getting "comfortable" at this weight/size.
