  1. Congrats!
gabybab reacted to Bianca S. in Weight loss update 😊! 4 weeks Post-Op Today
This morning I weighted myself for my 4weeks Post Op :)

If you saw my post about what was going on in week 3 you have most likely have read that I had gained 1.4lbs and then my weight wasn’t moving. glad to say today I had lost that 1.4lbs and an additional 1.2lbs making this weeks lost a total of 2.6lbs :)

I know I have only lost 22lbs in 4lbs and that’s amazing but I’m really excited to lose the next 48lbs to get to my first personal goal :)

    Weight stats:
    Starting HW: 270.6
    PRE-Op diet starting weight: 268.3
    Surgery weight: 266.8
    WEEK 1: -11.6lbs
    Week 2: -5.4lbs
    Week 3: +1.4lbs
    Week 4: -2.6lbs
    Total: -22lbs

    My personal Goals:
Goal 1: get down to 200lbs (48.6lbs to go 😊)
Goal 2: get down to 180lbs
Goal 3: get down to 160lbs
Goal 4: get down to 135lbs

    NSVS:
    • I can go in my closet and pick any 2xl clothing and it be fitting just right or lose, and some XL fit nicely :)
    • I see the difference in my face and body

    Other updates:
    • Still have no appetite, still forcing myself to eat for fuel unless I go longer that 3 hours I do get this one feeling of emptiness
    • I can tolerate Greek yogurt (texture throws me off but I don’t mind it), tuna, 4 shredded cheese blend or mozzarella/cheese sticks, mashed Beans, steamed zucchini and carrots (yay I been wanting veggies), Atkins French vanilla Protein Shakes, cottage cheese, reduced fat ritz crackers, scrambled eggs
    • can’t tolerate chocolate flavored Atkins Protein Shake, I get sick with nausea
    • my Water intake is improving, getting closer and closer to 64oz

So very happy to hear things are changing like the veterans says they would. No worries - you will accomplish all your set goals love! I have my 3 week follow up tomorrow. Can't eat a lot either. No interest in food - not complaining though. This is just a HUGE change for me but I'm eating & drinking every 2-3 hours as well. I had egg salad for lunch (only ate half) will try to eat other half in an hour or so. Sipping on my H2O - WE GOT THIS!

    Love games!
    5'2" female, 10 months post-op, in maintenance:
    Water: A+
Water is easy for me, I loved drinking water before surgery, and still do. My water bottle is an appendage to my arm. Protein: A
I used to have to supplement with a Protein Shake regularly, then occasionally, now only rarely. But I basically always meet/exceed my requirement. Food Choices: B+
I'm mostly on track to eat nutritiously, but am known to indulge once in a while (but only once I got into maintenance) Portion Control: C+
I am not as vigilant in pre-portioning my food as I used to, so there are times here and there that I eat too much, and get rewarded with foamies/barfies. Mindful Eating: C+
(See Portion Control above). I find that this is an issue especially when socializing. Exercise: A
I've been really good about getting some sort of exercise in every day. The majority of the time it is planned/dedicated run/workout/class, but even if I don't do any of those, I'll be doing something that gets me off my ass and moving. Vitamins: A+
Never miss them. Self Image: A
I am so full of myself its disgusting.

I would like to thank... literally nobody but myself because I am the one who accomplished this!
    Hollllaaaa!!
And this is before the skin removal so who knows what I will end up being. I am also still actively losing so I am not at equilibrium yet. Interested to see where this will go....

You will naturally be able to eat more over time, even without stretching your pouch. According to my surgeon, the . "stretching the pouch" rumors are not really true. She says it is theoretically possible, but you would have to eat massive amounts to make it happen.

So we went to my MIL this weekend and here are a couple of photos
It’s sooooooo nice to be able to blend into a crowd of strangers and not be the fat chick anymore.
Also, I’m able to wear this OU shirt my sister got me over 10 years ago. It FINALLY fits me

Ketosis. It should go away when you get further out and are eating more carbs. Meanwhile, mouthwash should help. I used Biotin mouthwash a lot since it increases saliva.

I'm finally getting into the process. I've got 2 of the 6 nutritionist appointments done. I've got my endoscopy scheduled for Sept 26. I've got the physical assessment scheduled for the day before Thanksgiving. Psychology assessment already completed. I'm trying my best just to maintain my current weight with everything else going on right now. Looking forward to getting this done.

I hate Protein Shakes. I have been doing Fairlife milk since it has 13 G of Protein per cup. I also made some creamy Tomato Soup with it yesterday and sipped on that all day.

This was exactly my fear. Saying goodbye to my daughter before surgery was so heart wrenching. My health was so bad I thought I wouldn't survive. My Dr assured me and before I knew it I was in recovery.
OP will do great And you won't regret it! Best wishes!

I was afraid I was going to die on the operating table, even though I knew there was a 99.7% chance I would pull through just fine. Other than that, I don't really remember any true fears. I was worried about not being able to take NSAIDs afterward because I used to get headaches all the time, but oddly, I rarely get them anymore - and Tylenol will usually knock them out.

The hardest is not being able to eat the quantities I used to, but it's a great trade off to be much smaller and healthier. No regrets!

I'm in pain management as well and I can still take my medication. I had to be on a higher dose for about 10 days after surgery to manage my pain levels after surgery.

I was given insulin in the hospital. at 6 months post-op I still have to take a bit of meds still. Hopefully it will get better with weightloss.

gabybab reacted to FluffyChix in Would our bariatric guidelines help those who haven't had surgery?
Yes. I was 287 when I started my journey. I mimicked what it would be like post surgery to lose down to 256lbs on the first day of my surgical 6mo. program. It was very hard. But do-able. But when I started the program, the doc made me go back to eating 1500cals cuz she didn't want me to mess up my metabolism and lose my post-surgical advantage.
But non-surgical peeps, don't get the advantage of the metabolic reset, nor do they have a cessation of the grhelin and other appetite hormones that we get. We also seem to have a better metabolic protection from slow-down than normies...
  23. Congrats!
gabybab reacted to New&Improved in Would our bariatric guidelines help those who haven't had surgery?
Definitely there are many people out there that have changed their lives without needing surgery but everybody is different!
I've actually started my own preop much earlier than the surgeon asked.
very low calorie and high Protein low carbs and I've found I'm not hungry that much compared to what i used to be, and in just 15 days I'm down 30lbs (sure might be mostly Water but feeling better and lost a few inches)
The way I see it every lb lost will make the surgery easier for me and the surgical team
