I had a repair and vsg as well. I had middle chest pain after surgery when I drank fluids the first 2 weeks. It has since gone away, and in fact, I'm not sure if that it a symptom from the vsg or the hiatal hernia repair.

I'm so sorry that your family members have treated you with disrespect. My mom made a few comments when I was young about losing weight, although I was only maybe 15 pounds overweight, nonetheless it makes you feel less than.
I have 2 adult children and to be honest I have worried about their weight. Neither is overweight, but I know the challenges I have faced and don't want them to ever go through that themselves. However, I would never comment negatively to either one. My so is a body builder, and that has worries, and my daughter has always been small. Maybe your family cares but has a shi*** way of showing.

Anyway, do what is best for you and do not feel guilty not telling anyone. I have a lot to lose & really don't care who knows, but we all need to do what is best for our own self.

Thanks for sharing the insight from your surgeon about gaining back 10% of the weight in year 2 and ensuring that you stay vigilant. I received no such guidance but it makes perfect sense.
I also drank lots of Diet Coke pre-surgery and quit cold turkey two weeks prior. Like you, I drank only water and Protein water for about seven months, then introduced coffee into my life (with skim milk and Splenda) and have really enjoyed it. I've had no issues so far.

Surgery twin.... Glad you are doing so well. 97 pounds is a lot of weight. I am dealing with an upset stomach alit more than would like. Even with that so happy that we are a yea out from surgery vs. just starting the journey. Not quite at goal but it is clearly within reach.

I'm sorry I have been absent for so long. Today is my 1 year anniversary and I'm so happy that I had this surgery, with no regrets. I haven't lost any weight in 3 months and think I have hit a plateau. Not gaining weight, just not losing. I've lost 97 pounds and am so grateful for that, even I dont lose one more pound.
I've had trouble with a upset stomach since shortly after surgery. I had an endoscopy and they said I had mild gastropathy, but nothing to really cause the symptoms.
I'm debating on having another surgery to complete the DS, but am going to give it another 6 months. I don't feel ready to make that decision yet.
I was walking after surgery and am not doing it anymore, plus I'm sneaking a few bad things, but certainly not what I eating before. Like today I ate a yogurt for Breakfast with pumpkin seeds and granola. lunch was 2 slices of cucumber and cauliflower with 1T ranch made from sour cream and a snack packet of cheese and nuts.
I'm in a much better space but still need to be vigilant each day.

I agree with you, from this and previous posts, you're not ready.
You are focused on what you will give up, instead of what you will gain.
No one can make you want your health, weight loss, mobiliy, etc., more than you want a pastry. Hopefully you will get there one day.

Officially off all my insulin and just taking metformin right now. Down 64 pounds since surgery and feeling great. [emoji41]

Absolutely had the same feelings. I'm eight months post-op and ate a small salad with Protein and an egg for lunch. Loving my life!💗

at 60 years old, nope. As someone else said, that ship sailed awhile ago. But I was tired of people looking at me like I was a freak, so I guess in that respect it's true. But I mostly did it for health reasons.

This! Most of the positive comments from people in my life are well-intentioned, but I still don't want the extra attention... And also, oddly enough, I wasn't mentally ready to have the surgery until I was comfortable with the way I looked before I started losing weight! I worry I won't like my post-op body as much as my pre-op body...

But sadly for me it's false. I promise it was not my purpose. So much so that I am still physically disgusted by positive change in attention pre vs. post from others. I on the other hand thought myself to look fine either way 😂

I'm having my endoscopy tomorrow morning and I'm hoping for the best. I'm still having trouble with stomach upset and lately it seems my restriction is more than before. I seem to feel sick everytime I eat. I will let everyone know tomorrow night🤞

We are all going to slip up now and then. It's the end result that matters, not the little ups and downs along the way. Don't beat yourself up!

Take the weight loss win. I have the same thing, sometimes, I think I am doing everything right and the scale does not budge. Then, I eat more and lose weight. Go figure. Happy for you
