  1. I am looking at a possible November date. I have to complete a 3 month multidiscipline program for insurance which was part of the center's pre-op program anyway. So hopefully I will be ready by November. I thought about the holiday but someone reminded me that it would only be for this year.
  2. Erin - Are you sure you didn't read my thoughts with your post? I started the process about 3 years ago and my fear of dying on the table stopped me from going through with the surgery. I've had another surgery since then so I know that fear is ridiciulous. I called to make my first appointment on friday and I almost called right back to cancel it. I am nervous and excited. I know everything will be ok. I am trying to stay focused. Good Luck, Valerie

    Anyone else indecisive?

I know how you feel. I started the process in 2006 and changed my mind. I am/was still going back and forth about a decision. I'm glad to know that I am not the only undecisive person.

    Will I Ever Make It?

Cathy S. - I feel your frustration. I knew it would take a while before I could have the surgery but I'm tired of waiting to get started. The center is having issue with the ins co. so it slowing down the process. I don't have to do the 6 month diet but it would at least give me something to do in the direction instead of just waiting. Good Luck, Valerie
  5. I'm back. I joined in 2006 and chickened out. I have decided to give it another try. I think things are going to go fast so I won't have an opportunity to change my mind this time. :smile2: I attended a seminar last night and I emailed my insurance company today and it appears that the surgery is covered. I am waiting to have my consultation and begin my pre-op preparation. Wish me luck.
  6. Thanks. I will wait to check it out before I do anything. I am so glad I decided to visit the site before I did anything.

    "Program Fees"

After trying to do this before I calculated $1000 is what I would have spent with the dr supervised diet, nutritionist, psych and surgeon co-pays it was about the same. I guess I will investigate more about what the fee covers. Thanks to everyone for making me check into this.
  8. I went to my seminar last night. I was so excited I emailed my insurance company this morning and found out the surgery is covered. I am waiting to set up my initial consultation.

    "Program Fees"

I attended a weightloss seminar last night. The program fee is $1000 and it covers all of the necessary pre-op procedures. What does the $3500 cover?
  10. Where was your surgery performed? I'm considering calling Dr. Spiegel.

    DR. Hahn????

    Why are you considering switching?
  12. Here's an update to this story. The autopsy revealed that she died from Viral Meningitis. Here is a link to the story: http://216.87.159.39/news/default.asp?mode=shownews&id=11782

    New outlook on life

Jana - I'm happy for you. Keep up the good work and positive attitude. - Valerie
  15. http://www.medicalcentersetexas.com/Bariatrics/calendar.htm This is a link to the seminar schedule at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas. I had an appointment with the nutritionist last week and they were still doing the seminars although the center is closed. The link for wls has been removed from the main site but this shortcut still works.

    Psych Eval

I thought the psych eval was a joke. To me he was trying to see if I had any addictions or crazy. Do I hear voices, do I use drugs, etc?

    I made it...

    I've lost 204 pounds! YEAY!

Sorry about your mom. Congrats on the weight loss. Please post photos.
  21. PeloRojo - I just read your post and thought I had written it. My husband has most of the same arguments as yours. He doesn't think I need the WLS but he has agreed to support me. I've been trying to get him to go to a seminar or at least read some of the posts on here but he hasn't done it yet. Keep reading LBT. Everyone here is very supportive and encouraging. I've been sharing what I read with him so I think he knows that I'm doing my research and I'm going into this well informed.

    I'm so confused

:help: I was having some reservations about having the surgery because I'm afraid to be put under. (Bad experience the last time.) Well, Wednesday my boss went in for major surgery something probably considered routine. He had major complications and died today. :cry Now I'm too terrified to go through with the procedure. I doubt I will be able to go any further with the procedure.

    I'm so confused

Thanks to everyone for your encouragement. We have since found out that my boss' death was not caused by the surgery. I never cancelled my next appointment so I will keep going. I have my psych eval on Monday. Thanks again.
  25. Hi All, I just found the group last night. I've already attended my seminar and my first consultation. Now I'm nervous. I don't have my spouse's support. He feels I'm just lazy and need to exercise. He doesn't understand. I'm glad I found this group I could use some support from people who understand. - Valerie
