    Bummed

I totally understand. I rushed to get pre-pre-op clearances this summer and I realize now that I was a bit delusional in thinking I would be able to get everything approved and done in time to have surgery to go back to school, between August 12 and September 1st. It didn't happen., and now I have to wait until my next school break. I'm still not even approved, but at least I finally have a surgery date (12/23). In the last few weeks, I have been noticing a shift in my thinking, so I'm feeling ok and possibly even thankful about the delay. Good luck with your process. Have faith things will work out for the better. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
  2. Just curious for all you ADD/ADHD people out there...do you feel that your ADD symptoms (difficulty with executive functions such as organizing and decision-making skills) were at least a contributing factor to your difficulty with losing/keeping off excess weight? I also have had an under-active thyroid diagnosed as a toddler, so I think that has been another factor with weight loss issues, as well as possibly affecting brain development (thus affecting neurotransmitters causing ADD). 3. For me, my daily struggles include (but are not limited to) poor planning/organization, time management and impulse control. This pretty much wrecks havoc on any long-term weight loss plan. I HAVE lost weight and I know that the sleeve will help me. I know it will take a lot of mental and emotional effort to make this tool really work. I just found out that my therapist is moving to Las Vegas next week! This Friday is my last session with her! Hopefully, she can suggest another therapist that might work well with me. I KNOW I will need some support in the months to come. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App

  6. On this topic, I'm wondering about anyone's experience of the food Police Coming out in full force. For this reason, I never told anyone if I was trying to actively lose weight. Do you find that people are more critical of what you eat, or maybe they feel more justified in expressing it. I just want to be a normal eater...eat good most of the time, yet allow myself to live and eat some foods considered completely off-limits by some. Perhaps my philosophy will change in the next few months...we'll see. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App

    FB group for lesbian/bi women!

There's an LGBT facebook group "LGBT SLEEVERS" that I found through a chat on here...I did a search for LGBT and found a few threads. I was just recently added, so this group, at least, is still active. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App

Cheated 5 days after my sleeve

Thank you for your response. I had no idea there was such a video! My dr told me "you have 4oz to work with, you go beyond your stomach explodes". Not that I don't understand the majorness of the surgery but I guess I needed more indept information. P.s. I just started eating the number 3 babyfood by gerber, is that ok? I don't want to be in pain or nlow up my stomach. Also I am petrified of throwing up. The only thing to come back so far was ice Water. I think I need a coach. Lol Sent from my SCH-S968C using the BariatricPal App Be careful about the #3 baby food...it may very well have chunks of food in i Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App

Cheated 5 days after my sleeve

It's amazing the surgeons don't all scare us a bit so we don't eat the wrong stuff post-op! My surgeon has us on purees soon after surgery and I had to ask him about the safety of this, based on all I've read and heard. His patients haven't had any issues, but I think we should all listen to our own doctor's orders after surgery. I'd rather be safe then sorry. I think @@jenniferbook902 is fully aware or her mistake and I'm so glad she had no issues arise from it. I'm still pre-op, but I feel like I'm pretty well prepared (although many people post-op say they weren't nearly as prepared as they thought they were, even after significant preparation and research). I binge-watched the You Tube videos for a few weeks (interesting choice of words, right?) and I learned so much! I have a few that I still watch and there are new people creating channels all the time. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App

Cheated 5 days after my sleeve

My surgeon allows purees very early on, post-op. Hopefully, if you chewed it well, you'll be ok, not that I would recommend you try that again any time soon (and I don't think you will). Best of luck to you on this journey! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App

What I meant is that even with Google, the article isn't loading on the website. I don't think it's this app, I think it is a problem with the original link/website.Yeah, I think you're right. Pretty diet

It may depend on how much the doctor wants to shrink your liver. Some people, myself included, have a fatty liver. Shrinking the liver makes the surgery safer with less damage to the liver. During surgery, they have to move it out if the way and it's much easier and safer if it's smaller and healthier. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
  20. So, in preparation for this surgery, I have finally downloaded My Fitness Pal and actually tracked my food for several days. I missed one day with my family, but I have tracked a total 6 out of 7 days. I hate tracking. I'm sure I'm not the only one. I hate having to be accountable and most if all, I hate having to be so damn honest with myself about what I am eating. I have done tracking before on my "Weight Watchers" app which was pretty cool with the extensive database of good food , but seeing the WW logo always annoyed me. I like My Fitness Pal. It has some nice articles too. Still, I struggle. I am not yet making the best choices. I do okay, then make a poor choice. Today I got coffee from Dunkin Donuts on my way home and got a stupid pumpkin muffin and ate it in the car while driving. I wanted SO BAD to just leave it off the log (then I wanted to delete it)...but it stayed. For me, THIS is a small success...being honest with myself. I can pretend to eat well in front of people, but I'm only fooling myself, and what good is that. I need to get serious about shrinking my liver and I know some of my recent food choices are not supporting this goal. I have a little over 2 months before surgery. I am worried that I'm not going to do well with long-term post-op because tracking can be such a b**ch. I'm not too worried with initial compliance, but long term compliance. I don't want to gain it all back once things get comfortable. I know the sleeve is "just a tool", but I want to make the best of it. Just curious...was anyone a little scared to be thin? (That might be another whole thread) Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
  21. In regards to being scared and/or emotionally ready: In a way, I kinda feel that without the surgery, I would probably just hover around 260#...I tend to maintain for months at a time, give or take. I feel that, in a way, the much more rapid weight loss with the aid of VSG will lead me into an arena that I haven't been in emotionally in quite some time, if ever. I feel that losing some of the weight is a bit like an accelerated cocoon. Without the surgery though, I've never really had the success needed to even GET to the cocoon stage. Who knows? Maybe I will enjoy being a thinner adult...I feel like once I have the opportunity of knowing how it feels to be thinner, that it will encourage me to maintain any weight that I am fortunate enough to lose. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App Yes I agree with u too...see I was abused and si my therapist is coming from the idea of hiding my self in my fat si going to be skinny is emotionally scary... I overall feel the benefits outweigh the risk I agree. As you go through the process, you can address these issues as they come up. But as far as being "emotionally ready"? We've been "emotionally ready" dealing with issues of being fat. Based on logic and what I've read, our issues and problems don't go away, but we will most likely need to find other ways to soothe ourselves than with food. I'm glad I already have a therapist to help me through these feelings. Best of luck on your journey! I think this group will also be quite helpful and supportive as we navigate these unknown waters of weight loss. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
