  1. Hi,

The problem with drinking during and after meals is that no only does it wash what you've eaten, it then makes it possible for you to get HUNGRY sooner than you would have had you not drank.

My doc suggest not drinking 15 minutes prior to eating and for 2 hours after eating. When I heard this at the seminar I gasped. However, after almost a year, I can say that I adapted the habit and still use it. It really does work. The nurse at my office suggest the ice trick that Blue_Eyes mentioned for those who just have to have something to drink.

You have to commit to yourself! I'm sure that when you decided to have surgery you were planning on following the rules. This is a rule that will make a lot of difference.

Is it possible that you have a medical condition that makes you feel thirsty often?

    Take care and good luck!

  2. Hey Abby,

Funny you should mention this. Women are....unpredictable. OMG!! It would have been nice to hear a "How's it going, you look great". It wouldn't have caused a need for any further talk on the subject unless you wanted to. I choose not to think that all women are envious and that all people are hurtful. 35 pounds, inches, etc. is definitely worth celebrating. I'm sending a big southern CONGRATULATIONS your way cause you deserve it. Instead of worrying about these "friends/girls" I suggest that you draw your support from the people most willing to give it. Your DH is one of them along with the wonderful people here on this site. Never feel bad about celebrating your hard earned successes. Best of everything to ya!

  3. Hi,

Congrats on your band. I have a friend who wants to self pay the surgery and was considering Mexico. I was banded here in Louisiana. If you're banded in Mexico, is it easy to find a Doc in your home state for fills and other maintenance issues? Thanks in advance for your response.

I love being banded. Best thing ever for me.

  4. Hey guys(ladies included),

I finally got a decent night's rest. Able to sleep on both sides but less on the port side. I also notice that my stomach is not creating the music it once was. It was so loud one night, my husband that it was his stomach.

Not as much gas as early last week(wow)!

I've driven a couple of times with no problem. My only instructions were to make sure I was no longer taking pain medicine.

    Have a great Tuesday everyone!

  5. Hi,

Congratulations on your approval!! Doesn't just knowing that things are going to change make a difference?

I was on Monday 1/26/09. I know it sounds corny but I'm so proud of ME.

I'd love to chat with you and you move through the process.

    Have a great weekend!

  6. Hi Tiare,

Congrats on your banding. I was banded on 1/26. I already know that it's one of the best choices I've ever made.

I'm having problems with gas too althugh today is much better. When I lay in bed my stomach provides the sound effects. My doc suggested Gas-X strips. They seemed to help.

    Good luck.

  7. Walking and a heating pad helped me with the gas. Also, for some reason taking liquid tylenol helped also.

    Morning Down,

Thanks for the tip about walking and the heating pad. Today I feel much better. Whew! The gas is definitely subsiding.

    How are you today>

  8. I'm having issues getting in much Protein at all. I'm drinking carnation instant breakfast with 8oz of milk once a day and that's it. I've never tolerated milk very well and I HATE chocolate and can't find the no sugar added vanilla carnation. Anyway, I've tried Isopure and Unjury and some different Protein Shakes and I despise them all. I feel like with protein powder and protein shakes I might as well be taking a bite out of the living room rug. Does anyone have any other suggestions for getting in protein during the full liquid phase?

    Hi,

The nurse at my doctor's office suggested "New Whey, Liquid Protein, 42g. 0 sugar and 0 fat. I start my liquid diet on Thursday and I bought several from smoothie King. I bought the grape and orange flavor. If you can find these they'll satisfy most of your daily protein.

  9. Good Luck to you yellowtopaz! I will be banded on January 27th and have started my pre op diet. So far, I'm fine as long as I stay "in the zone".

Best of luck to you Ms. Kelley. Within only a day separating us, it'll be cool to compare notes. You hang in there. The 27th isn't far away and you can do it.

  10. Best of Luck to You! How are you doing with the pre-op requirements? Does your surgeon require an all liquid or mostly liquid diet?

    Hi,

I've completed all the pre-op testing requirements. My doctor requires 4 days of liquids. 2 days full liquids and 2 days Clear Liquids. I start that on Thursday. I'm so pleased to have this surgery that the liquid diet is a small thing when compared to how much better my life will be.
