  2. Just logged in for the first time in a long time. My effort and weight loss has stalled out. This Valentine challenge is just what in need. I have a month so I'm going for 8-10 lbs. good luck everyone. starting at 204 today
  3. I have been banded for 6 months. I am doing really well with the band. I had my last fill 3weeks ago. Everything was fine until I woke up this morning with the feeling like something is stuck in my throat. I can eat and drink but that feeling will not go away. Any advice out there?
  4. Rachel, I going to give this last fill a little time before i judge it , but my guess is that im not there yet. I have not been to any support meeting yet. I meet with my trainer at the same time of the meetings. I still thinking about going to OA but haven't gone yet.

I can't wait until I'm at the point that you are.

    What a difference .5cc makes!

I hear ya!!!! 3rd fill today. I'm only at 4.8cc. I'm ready to get this show on the road......
  6. Rachel, wow! sorry you had a hard time. did it feel the same as that getting something stuck feeling? did you get to see Dr. Hitchcock. I hope your eating ok now. I wonder if we all have to get too full in our band, at some point, to be able to understand what the sweet spot feels like.

I had a fill today i saw Dr.H i think he gives a better shot. i didn't feel a thing! I'm now at 4.8 and im drinking just fine. i'm crossing my fingers for some restriction. he told me if no restriction to come back after 2 weeks and not to wait a month. I have an appt 7/9. Kirk is coming home sometime the week of the 21st. we don't have the day yet. I'm so excited. I've lost 38. I hope he can tell!!! we are going to work out together while he is here.

Let me know how it's going.

  7. Rachel,

Here I am following in your foot steps. I had fill yesterday. 1.3 cc. She tried to give me 1.5 but she felt some restriction and stopped. She said me protein first after mushie stage. That is pretty much what I have been trying to do. How is it going for you? More restriction? I hope you had a good time camping.

I just found out my husband is coming home for a visit at the end of June. I'm so excited!!!!! BUT I didn't want him to see me until December so I could be a new women in a new body. Oh well.

  8. Hi Rachel, How are you doing? I hope your feeling some benefit from your fill. Have fun camping. I love camping. one or two smores won't hurt you. Just go for a walk. You don't get to go camping everyday. I don't go back for a fill until the 28th. My willpower is getting better and I'm trying to do more cardio. I want to be able to rely on my band more. I am planning meals and keeping a journal of everything i eat. It really helps me.

    Keep in touch

    Anya

  9. Hi Rachel,

  13. I had to take a break from this Website. I was getting burned out on it all. The lapband was all I ever thought about. I'm feeling like I'm getting my life back now. With a few adjustments of course. I'm ready for my first fill. May 7. I have been working with a trainer for week. I'm also doing some cardio everyday. It has kept me from gaining. So I'm sure some of us have had a fill or two, how is it going?
  14. Rachel, I agree lets get this show on the road! So what is you restriction like. I go Thursday the 7th. I don't think he'll have trouble finding my port. I can feel it.

Good luck and keep me informed.

    Anya

  15. Rachel, when i got my staples out the nurse told me most people gain during the time before the first fill. Don't be discouraged. Were going to do great! I just keep thinking of being sexy when my husband comes home. It seems to be doing the trick.

    Small goals all the way

  16. Hi Rachel,

I had to take a break from this website. I was getting lapband out. Everything is going fine. I've had no problems. I wish we had some restriction now I could use the help. I am doing really good though. I'm still losing about 2 pounds a week. I just had my first day with a personal trainer @24 hr fitness. I don't generally spend money like that, but I'm very excited about it. I'm glad I told everyone about my lapband. It makes it easier to stay on tract, because everyone is watching what you do. Let me know how your fill goes. I can't wait.

  18. Hi Rachel, I got 6 inches of snow. It was all gone the next day. I'm ready for my post-op check, but it's not until Thursday. I'm waiting for the doc to tell me to start mushies. I am having protein shakes everyday. So how the food going? Work was fine. I did get a little sore. I took some pain med and went to bed when I got home.

I rested today and only work a half day tomorrow. How about you? Hows about Work?

  19. Hi Jerseygirl,

I'm from Overland Park. Were Neighbors! Where are you having surgery? Who Is your doctor? Dr. Hitchcock @ Malley Surgical did my surgery Monday 3/23.

    Anya

  20. Hi LUCKY LOSERS, There are so many different opinions about what to eat and not to eat post op, I thought it would be helpful to post the LAPBAND SYSTEM guidelines. Hope it's helpfull:rolleyes2:Recovery Here are some key points for your recovery in the first few days and weeks. First Days You can expect some soreness, especially where the access port is, but it should subside (Please call your surgeon if the pain persists after a few days). To prevent infection, your surgeon may tell you not to shower for a day or so after surgery. Try to walk as much as you can comfortably, so that you'll regain strength and prevent blood clots, but take it slowly. [*]First Week(s) During the first week after surgery, allow yourself to recover and get plenty of rest. In about a week, you should be able to return to work, provided it's not physically demanding. For more physically active jobs, allow yourself two to three weeks to recover. Within four to six weeks, you should be able to resume all normal activity and start a new exercise program. Note: Before engaging in any physical activity or exercise program, first consult your surgeon. Click here to learn more about Exercise Guidelines Many surgeons see their patients weekly or biweekly during the first month after surgery, so you will be sure your recovery is going well, and have any questions answered. Dietary Guidelines After surgery, you'll need a new nutrition plan. You'll learn about the positive changes you can and need to make in your diet and lifestyle from your surgeon and/or dietitian. It's very important to follow your new eating and drinking instructions beginning immediately after the surgery. In the first few weeks after your LAP-BAND® System surgery, you will be on a liquid diet since only thin liquids will be tolerated by your stomach at that time. As you heal, you will gradually progress to pureed foods (three to four weeks post-op) and then soft foods (five weeks post-op). Finally, after about six weeks, you will be able to eat solid foods. The First Few Days Post-Surgery It's extremely important to follow the eating and drinking instructions immediately after the surgery. This allows your new stomach pouch to heal completely and the LAP-BAND® System to stay in the right position. In the early weeks, it's crucial not to stretch the small stomach pouch above the LAP-BAND® System. Vomiting will do this, while also increasing the chance of stomach tissue slipping up through the band. Right after the surgery, you can take an occasional sip of Water or suck on an ice cube. Don't take any more liquid than this, though. The day after the operation, you can take a little more Fluid but only a small amount at a time. Besides water, you should also choose Clear Liquids that have an adequate number of calories. To prevent nausea and vomiting, do not drink too much. [*]liquid diet (1-2 weeks post-surgery) Your goal during the first few weeks is to protect the small stomach pouch so that you can heal properly. It can only tolerate thin liquids at this time. It's also important to stay hydrated by drinking lots of water (small amounts at a time). Other liquids recommended during this phase include: clear broth or Soup (with no vegetables or meat, and not creamy) skim milk fruit juice no-sugar-added popsicles [*]Pureed Foods (3-4 weeks post-surgery) Now, you can start adding slightly textured foods. Think of the consistency of baby foods. This stage will help you transition to more solid foods later. Protein is very important for maintaining muscle while you lose weight. So, you should eat protein-rich foods first, and then move on to fruits and vegetables. Foods in this stage may include: pureed skinless chicken or fish mashed potatoes peas low-fat yogurt or pudding [*]Please note: In the first few weeks you may be able to eat foods that might not be allowed in your diet later, because they may contain too many calories. [*]Remember, it's more important in the first few weeks to let your stomach adjust to the LAP-BAND® System than it is to lose weight. Also, your personal timing and progression into each dietary phase depends on your progress. In general, when it comes to your nutrition, you should follow the advice of your surgeon and/or dietitian. [*]Soft Foods (5 weeks post-surgery) Your meals can now include tender, cooked foods like fish and ground turkey. Now that you can chew, make it a habit to chew foods well. If you have dentures, be sure to cut your food into small pieces and chew your food thoroughly. By not chewing properly, you may experience vomiting, stomach irritation and swelling. You could also have stoma obstruction (obstruction of the stomach opening created by the LAP-BAND® System). Some products like bread, red meat, and rice may still cause you problems, so it is better to eat softer foods that are easier to digest. These might include foods such as moist white meat (chicken or pork) and fish. If solid foods cause any nausea and vomiting, go back to the liquid diet you had earlier. Then you can slowly add soft foods and eventually transition to solid foods. Always ask your doctor or dietitian for advice that is specific to you. Again, remember that vomiting may increase the incidence of band slippage, stomach slippage, or stretching of the small stomach pouch above the LAP-BAND®. Back to Top
  21. Hi and Welcome The dietary guidelines I posted are from the makers of the lapband. You can go to lapband.com for a lot of useful info. It would be a good idea to take the guidelines with you to your doctor to see what if any changes should be made for your needs. The lapband guidelines are all about protecting the pouch and the placement of the band. Not about what you can keep down. I'm not going to let anything keep me from lapband success. Anya:rolleyes2:
  22. Hi Rachel,

I'm getting so tired of sitting around taking it easy. I can't wait to go to work Monday. I think my daughter and I are going to go walk around walmart or target today, just so I can get out of the house.

How is eating going? I chewed gum all day yesterday I miss chewing. Do you think you going to go to the support group? I think I will.

How about the snow for this weekend!!!

    Anya

  23. Lois Ruth, I'm still doing pretty good. I'm getting really board. I want to get on with it. I'm starting to get hungry. I'm going to sip on a protein shake today.

    How are you doing?

    Anya

  24. That's great, I want to be able to leave my C-pap behind also. Keep up the good work:smile2:
