  1. I am 3.5 years out from lapband and am feeling the frustration of losing right around 50lbs. I am trying to decide now if I want to try to get back on the bandwagon and go back and try to get a fill and see if I can start losing again or go for gastric bypass. I get so frustrated with myself for giving in to the old habits ( that seem to die hard). I know what I am doing wrong just can't seem to stop the poor choices most of the time. Getting back on this site hoping for some support and ideas
  2. Has anyone else utilized Hamot Bariatrics in Erie, Pa? :tongue_smilie:

    Hamot Bariatrics- Erie, Pa

Depends on your Ins as to when you hear back. Mine was quick! I was scheduled for the pre-op visit to meet with Dr. Ali and others scheduled for surgery the same day as you to sign paperwork. He will tell you then how many days you need to be on the liquid diet. Everyone was different at mine ( 9 days for me). Last Oct. when I had my surgery, it only took a few weeks after approval for surgery date! Good luck and let me know how you are doing or if you have any questions!
  4. I am now below 300... and ahhh what a feeling. You are well on your way and will be there in good time. Keep up the good work!

Sounds like you are on the right track. I definitely how our lovely weather can be. I swim at indoor pool for my exercise. Can't do much else due to a tendon problem in my foot. Isn't Dr. Ali wonderful? I am trying to get some sort of support group going in the Meadville area so that we don't have to do that drive to Erie. I have a tough time finding someone to watch the kiddos as well.

    Concerned

I was able to add some protein by using the walmart brand cookies and cream flavored protein powder to my SF Instant Carnation drinks... that helped me out some.
  9. OMG........ thank you for writing this. Just what I needed right now. So well put, all of what you wrote. We all need to check ourselves. I tend to beat myself up from time to time as I plateau. Just got my 4th fill yesterday and I am praying for some restriction this time. I have to look at the fact that I have lost 32lbs so far without much restriction in 5 months....it is slow and that is difficult sometimes to deal with, but I am further ahead than I was 5 months ago. Gotta keep up the healthy self talk
  10. I just had 4th fill today. Have lost 32lbs in the 5 months since my surgery. This time was too long to go without fill, but Dr. office cancelled me 3 times for various reasons so Im thinking I probably put back on a few lbs. as I was getting really hungry. I now have 8 cc's in 14 cc band. I am hopeful that this one will find my sweet spot and I can get on with losing. I have been able to eat just about anything. Everyone seems to be different. I am a "sometimes" planner of meals. I have to cook for my daughters, but I try to just eat the Protein portion of a meal I fix for them. I always try to eat a small amount of cottage cheese or something similar for Snacks... maybe some sug free pudding. I am definitely still in the learning stages. Good luck

    Hamot Bariatrics- Erie, Pa

Hi there, I had my surgery Oct 2nd. I am doing well. Was just to see Dr. Ali on Friday for my third fill. I am now at 7 cc in the 14 cc band. Hoping this is the fill that slows down my eating ability! I, fortunately, have never had any kind of problems whatsoever. Have not gotten sick at all. Feeling better than I have in years and have only lost a total of 23lbs..... (holidays put a couple back on). Dr. Ali is great. Very kind, knowledgeable. I don't think you will regret the decision at all (even with self-pay, although that stinks). The really tough thing with lapband I have found is the waiting.... wanting the weight off, wanting to look and feel better sooner rather than later. But, since you are only supposed to lose 1-3 lbs a week....it isn't fast. Once I was able to wrap my small brain around that knowing.... I am doing better with not getting frustrated with myself. (ok, at least sometimes) lol Exercise of some sort is a must ( I swim). The more you lose ahead of surgery, the better off you are.. of course most of us are not able to lose the weight alone, that is why we turned to surgery in the first place. If you drink anything with carbonation, stop as soon as you can. Definitely can't drink it afterwards... (painful & dangerous to your pouch). If you smoke, you must quit before he will do surgery. I thought I would miss sugar more than I do. Nice surprise. Let me know if you want to email outside of here with any questions. I will be happy to answer anything I can.

Who cannot drink fruit juices or doesn't like them.

I am not a juice drinker at all. I don't even like all the bottled drinks out there on the market. Guess I am just weird. I don't like plain milk either, but am able to drink milk with the No Sugar Instant Carnation Drink Mix. I have started drinking De-Caf (Iced) Tea with Sweet and Low and *Tru Lemon. I cant stand drinking this tea hot, but cold works for me. I personally like Water, but have added some of the various sugar free Additives to it to make it a bit more interesting!!
