    Any March Sleevers?

peacockmom, I too am having some of the same thoughts/fears. Although we realize we are doing this for all the right reasons, we still have to think about "things" with regards to our families, especially our kiddos. I am a single mother and worry alot about my three daughters and the what-if's. Great idea coming on here for support. We can all help each other.

    Any March Sleevers?

ok, so I don't know what the heck I am doing right now. Have been eating poorly for the past several days and can't seem to kick it and get back on track. Just got my approval and surgery date last Monday(3/13) and since then it feels like I am slacking off on keeping up with the losing. Getting frustrated with myself. I know I have to see the surgeon on the 26th for consent signing and know he is going to expect to see more of a loss... Gotta get my head back in the game.... gosh, I think I need to kick my own *ass! lol

    Any good broth/soup base recipes?

Can't say that I have ever had Miso soup... or for the matter ate a Japanese Rest...lol Trying to come up with some ideas before my surgery (3/13) knowing that I am certainly not drinking the nasty canned stuff. I see at Walmart there is now some little containers of a soup base that you just add water too but Im thinking making my own would be better.

    Any good broth/soup base recipes?

I did a similar thing after lapband. I went to a restaurant and ordered the Veg Beef soup and asked for broth only.

    Any good broth/soup base recipes?

I love it...ha ha ha... that was fun to read! It sounds simple enough for me to handle making too and sounds like a great option for after surgery so long as I don't all into that whole smell thing you had to deal with! Thanks

    Any good broth/soup base recipes?

Beef shank? is that something I would need to get from a butcher? Or will any grocery store do? It all sounds yummy
  7. I already looked on ebay and there was hardly any scrubs. Mostly tops of those that were available unless I'm looking in the wrong place

Scrubs needed size XL and Large

That is so nice of you!!
  9. I am looking to purchase some scrubs. would love matching tops and bottoms. Sizes XL and Large at this time needed.
  10. I was at our Salvation Army Store last night...most of these were really faded/worn. The few that were acceptable were too big
  11. I know they do.. but am hoping that since I plan on not wearing this size all that long that I can get my hands on some used ones! Have some high hopes that after surgery my weight will continue to drop..woo hoo

Scrubs needed size XL and Large

It doesnt really matter what colors I guess. I am just looking ahead as to the sizes I am going to need in the coming months. Certainly don't want to buy new scrubs in smaller sizes as I go, so hoping to purchase some used ones.

    Any March Sleevers?

03/13/13 can't get here soon enough!! One month to go!! I'm worried that I won't be able to do the liquid diet. I keep thinking I will get to obsessed about "needing" real food and screw up.

    March Sleevers Where are You

Thinking I'm going to have a March surgery date. Everything submitted to Insurance ( I hope). Just over a week ago was my last of 6 month supervised diet visits.. All pre op testing done. Got a call from the Dr. office the end of the week wanting me to call... Can't wait to call Monday and see if she has my approval already! Gosh, if so, maybe I will get a February surgery date instead of my guess of March. Is there anyone else that is having a conversion from Lapband?

    Any March Sleevers?

I am now in the waiting game as many of you are...I have completed the 6 month required supervised diet and have all testing done other than an ekg and chest xray. Everything is being submitted to Insurance for approval. Have no idea how long that can take. I had lapband in 2008 and have not been real successful in losing the amount of weight I had hoped too. Due to some knee, feet problems I was not able to do much of the exercising that I believe would have helped me be more sucessful. I am hopeful that the sleeve will allow me to lose more weight and then possibly be able to do more stuff ( exercise wise) taking some more strain off of the knees and feet. Have already had one knee replaced hoping to avoid getting the other one done. Getting sort of down on myself wondering I will fail at this attempt as well?

    Any March Sleevers?

I too am hopeful for a March surgery date. Have pre-op testing completed. I have my last 6 month supervised diet appt Feb 5th, then everything gets submitted to Insurance for approval. I don't yet have a weight set in my mind that I want to use as a goal. Hoping just to be much healthier with the new me. I will be a conversion from lapband( didn't have much success).
  23. I'm trying to get approval for conversion. I had lapband 10/2008. Have lost only 45lbs. I definitely didn't feel successful with the lapband. I have nothing bad to say about the band. I have several orthopedic issues with knees, feet and shoulders that have really shut me down on getting in much exercise. After each of the orthopedic surgery I thought ok this is the one that is going allow me to get on track with the lapband, but that hasn't been the case. I enjoy swimming but now that winters is coming all the outdoor pools are shut down. Probably going to join YMCA and get into their deep water fitness classes. I really enjoyed them. Me Trying to work the weight machines is a real joke I cannot do the leg or the arm ones. It's quite frustrating. As I go through the 6 supervised diet visits I keep asking myself if I deserve to be permitted by my insurance pay for RNY after they already pain for lapbad for me? I was not a success with lapband so what says I can be good at losing through RNY? I get a bit depressed when I ask myself these questions. I take 12 differenet meds a day and am only 45. I'm tired of living my life this way and really want to get to a healthier weight, Do I deserve this second chance?? I guess is what Im asking. I have no one around me who has had lapband but know several who have had RNY
  24. I am in the process of trying to get the revision from Lapband to RNY in 'Erie,Pa. Just had second of 6th physician supervised diet I need to do before trying to get the Ins Approval. Looks like it will be spring before I will get a surgery date if all these pre op testing does well. I know alot of things are going to be different with this go around with getting the band removed and then the revision done to RNY, Not sure if I have to go through all the pre-op testing or not. It's been 4years so my guess is I will have to get updated tests. I know I have to meet with psychologist, pulmonologist, the nurtritionist visit is the 9th of Nov along with the esophorgram, and then the EGD in late Dec.I think I had to see a Cardiologist as well before my lapband surgery. chest xray and ekg I think are done for everyone Im wondering what kind of down time I am going to have with RNY compared to what I had with lapband. I think we have to stay in the hospital longer and more than likely a little longer to be off work do the more intense surgery, Maybe someone else on here can give me some time ideas

Do I Deserve A Second Chance At This

Thanks for the support Vicki, you make alot of good points. I guess I hadn't thought about RNY as being yet another treatment for the same problem that Lapband (and I ) didnt have alot of success at. I have maintained the weight that I have lost but just can't seem to get any further. I too am hopeful that RNY can help me get rid of the High Blood pressure, Sleep apnea, diabetes and some of the orthopedic issues I have to deal with. I have already had my left knee replaced but with the weight still being an issue, I will end up needed the right done eventually. I have had two L foot surgeries to address my VERY flat feet and need the repair done to my R foot as well. I have trouble walking because of the issues with my feet so even something as simple as walking for exercise is quite painful. I also have one repaired torn rotator cuff and one that needs repaired . Because of all this orthopedic issues, I am not able to do the simple machines at the Y and that is very frustrating. I love to swim so that is my only form of exercise at this point. With summer now gone I have to try to get to the Y when they have their open swim which is tough with my work schedule. I am going in for my third out of 6 required supervised diet visits in November and have started some of the required pre-op testing in hopes of my Insurance okaying the revision next spring. I just keep questioning myself.... Looks like you don't have a long wait now for your surgery. Wishing you the best of luck with that. I look forward to hearing how you progess post op
