Wow thank you for this! You said lots of things I tell people all the time. I personally lost 103lbs to gain 30lbs back. I've recently taken off my regain glasses and am feeling great again! =)

I don’t think the goal is 2 meals per day. My assumption is he might be asking that because a lot of bandsters only eat 2. I for one have never eaten Breakfast and still don’t.
Protein is real important for those banded so yes I always start with it to make sure I can fit it in. Lots of times I don’t even end up eating anything else. Sometimes I fit a piece of fruit in-between meals. I suggest setting small weight loss goals for yourself. Like right now maybe your goal is 199. That sounds a lot more doable than 160 to the brain! Then maybe once you hit 199 your goal is 180? I set small goals for myself and it makes it so much easier! GL!

Thank you for sharing this!! I think lots of us start to think we're doing this on our own while the band is helping much more than we realize.

Lady Lap Band got a reaction from Lite'N'Sweet in What was the hardest part of your recovery?
I tend to want to sleep through pain so it was a real struggle for the docs and my family to get me up and moving which prolonged my recovery. You really need to walk to work the gas pains out of your body and beleive it or not the more you move the better you will feel. The port incision is the worst one. You'll hardly notice the others.

Banded for 5 yrs and I still struggle with food addiction. I think you have to realize that you'll never be cured of it but the band is like your support group and can help you deal with it.

    Hi all!
My name is Breanne and I just passed my 5 year bandiversary! I lost 103lbs slowly over 3 years and weighed in at 149lbs which was the smallest I had been in my life! It also put me in the normal weight range for the first time ever!! Wooohoo!
The last 2 years have been a little stressful for me and I gained 30lbs back in what felt like the blink of an eye. I’m telling you this because I didn’t realize just how happy I was at 149lbs until I wasn’t there anymore. When I was 149 I was telling myself it wasn’t enough and that I still needed to hit my goal of 138lbs.
I’m happy to report that I’m back on the wagon now and am working vigorously to hit my new re-evaluated goal of 148lbs. My advice to all is to really enjoy the journey and don’t forget that this band is like your cheerleader. It can cheer you on all day but if you’re not playing the game you can’t win. =)

Same here....addictions, urges, desires are one thing...but the band manages my eating, so slowly my behaviors towards those urges subside.....
But I still get them from time to time....
A few weeks ago, I had an urge for a McDonalds Cheeseburger...Mind you, I have not eaten a cheeseburgers since hitting the Green Zone over 3 years ago.
But the urge was strong....so I succumbed and bought one...took one bite and swallow and immediately was reminded why I don't eat cheeseburgers anymore...I don't think I will be desiring cheeseburgers for another few years....Behavior Modification thanks to the band.

My tid bit is to remember the pain of surgery and recovery. Remember how hard the pre-op diet was because I believe we have to have great respect for this band. My first band was very successful but I did not respect it. I ate around it because I couldn't adjust to not eating and enjoying like those around me. Still I lost all my weight and maintained it for 5 years. Then I got cocky and got the band out. I gained almost all the weight back. Now I was just banded again May 15. This time it is different. I am committed to the rules of eating. Surgery was painful and I am remembering that this time as a motivator to have respect. I am losing slow but I will get to 130 pounds again because living there was so sweet and I was happy.

Oh Icy One, that cracked me up!!! I feel ya for sure. I did my best too and wasn't perfect but all we can do is our best.
For those who made it through exactly as told I think is great. I personally don't think the little antics ruin anything but can not be used for a free for all either. I cheated with some grilled chicken and never felt guilty. My husband cheated so much I couldn't even watch him and although our surgeon said he would sew us back up everything turned out okay.

Hey guess what, no one is perfect. Not even the people who didn’t cheat. The doctors aren’t stupid as they know most people won’t be able to stick to the pre op 100%. The goal is to shrink your liver so do the best you can and take one day at a time. This is an ongoing battle and journey. You can do this, just believe in yourself and reach out when you need some encouragement.

    Thanks heaps everyone.
It's hard being the only person I know with a band in my circle of friends and in my family.
Their bad habits slowly rubbing off on me and they aren't the blame... It's my fault for letting myself fall back into old habits. It's my choice at the end of the day and now I choose to have my healthy life style back.
I have always been made to feel guilty for not joining in on nights out drinking and partying. I haven't had a drink in 2 weeks and my fiancée hasn't either. He has been a great support and I tell you what, so have all you guys. I really do love this group and getting support from everyone who knows what I am going through. Not even that but people who have a band and can help me with hints and tricks to keeping on track. You're all amazing x

Lady Lap Band got a reaction from LL112 in 5yrs Banded, need support buddy/buddies!
    Hello!
I’ve been banded for 5 yrs. In 3 yrs I lost 103lbs and was 11lbs to goal. Long story short due to the stresses of life instead of hitting my goal I gained 30lbs back over the last 2 yrs. Well I’ve finally woken up, yippy! I’ve adjusted my goal to 148lbs instead of 138lbs. I’ve already lost 5lbs and now I have 27 to go until I hit my goal. I’m hoping to hit it by the last day of summer Sept. 22nd.
I’d really love to chat with others who need support as I’m really struggling. I’ve been super motivated the last 3-4 weeks as I have not missed one day of working out. However with only a 5lb loss I’m starting to feel discouraged.
    Anyone else out there?

You got this don't worry! Try to stay away from carbs. I was basically carbless the first 4 months after surgery and lost about 40lbs. Keep walking it will pay off I really only ever walked and still do. Don't be so hard on yourself you have no fill yet! =) GL!

Whatever you decide to do I've found that consistency is the only thing that actually helps. All I ever did to lose over 100lbs is walk! I walked 45 minutes 6-7 days per week. GL!
