  1. August 23rd is my big day and I am still unsure about my decision. I am nervous, scared and afraid of failure.

I have been on this site for a year and I have read my negative things then positive about the lap band. I need to lose weight because I have some medical problems. I don't want to get the lap band and develop more medical conditions.

I am taking all opinions and any advice... So please speak up one and all!!!

I had it done two years ago and have done well. I needed to lose weight to have a very large hernia repaired. It's on the horizon.

I will keep you in my prayers.

  2. Okay, when I started this process my goal was to be a size 6. Years ago I was a size 8 at 145 pounds so I figured I needed to be around 135-138 to be a size 6. As of today I can wear a size 6 and I'm at 155 pounds.

How is that possible? I'm planning to get a Tummy Tuck next spring but really I don't have that much sagging skin. There's no way I could have 20 pounds of sagging skin and it's not because I'm working out because I admit I suck at working out:(

So I'm happy that I've reached my goal size but I'm confused as to how and why. Is it just because clothing sizes have changed so much over the years?

Confused too. I've lost 137 lbs and I'm in a 14 loose. Years ago (35) I did WW and lost 62lbs weighed 141 and was in a 12.

Hats off to you = great job.

  3. Feeling much better today. The pain in my band area stopped last night, I got up to get a drink and noticed it didn't hurt going down but of course I had to get a bite of mashed potatoes to make srue and again no pain. I have the barium (sp) swallow on Monday haven't setup the scope yet I'll call today to do that.

Thinking of you JT. Hope all goes well Monday.

  4. Ugh had nearly my whole post written and lost it.

Greetings fellow Bunnies! Hope everyone is well.

I've been having issues the last few weeks, I've had some additional weight lose but it's been costly.

I started being able to eat less and less solid foods and have mostly been doing Soups and Protein Drinks. My GERD issues got worse. I even started throwing up at night and then the throwing up started happening during the day.

I called my Dr last week and got scheduled for an unfill he took out 1cc I could feel some relief, Soup I had for lunch move through the band, but I panicked a bit and had him put half back in which resulted in .5cc being taken out. It takes a few days for me to actually tell how things are my symptoms didn't get better in fact last weekend was so bad I almost went to the ER. I got back in yesterday for an additional unfill and he took out all he could, 2.75cc, leaving about 1cc in according to him (my calculations show me having more).

I have to had an upperGI done and a EGD(?) scope to make sure my band hasn't slipped or something. All of this right before vacation.

One of my biggest concerns is if I have to have surgery to correct the band that it won't be covered by insurance.

    So how's everyone else?

  5. Hey Everyone, It's the JerseyGirl. Happy Bandaversary. Sorry I haven't been around in a looooong time.

I've been doing pretty well. Been experiencing band problems too. Last summer while in Jersey my band all but closed. When I got home to KS in Sept the Dr. removed 2 ccs. After Christmas I started with the same crap. Vomiting, reflux and coughing. Back to Dr. removed .5. Just went on Thursday. We're heading to Jersey for the summr and I didn't want to have a problem. Low and behold it was tight again. they took out .25. I've gained about 5 lbs so my total is really 132 lbs down. Hope everyone is well.

  6. Hello Everyone. Sorry I've been missing in action.

    Congrats JT. Way to go.

I weighed in at 171 this am. I've been doing well since my unfil. No reflux and no getting sick. Also been maintaining. Had been floating between 174 -172 for the past month, so I though I was where I should be. Hope to lose that last dang lb before Christmas. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

  7. Hello Everyone, Haven't been on in forever. Spent the summer in NJ and returned to Kansas in Sept. Had an un-fill of 2 cc when I came home as I had a problem with reflux & keeping stuff down. Much better now. I'm 1 lb from my goal, but I think I'm where I should be. As I've maintained this weight for a month.

  8. Weighed in at 174 this am. Down 1.5. Went to the Dr. yesterday am good news is that the band didn't slip. It was too tight. Nothing was getting through it. That's why I was throwing up all the time and had reflux. They took out 2 cc and I feel wonderful. I can actually eat and keep it down. No reflux last night. Just have to be careful not to get carried away. I don't understand the logic of how the band got too tight because I got too thin.

  9. jerseygirl - sorry to hear about thinning hair. That was one of those things I worried about.

Will you increase Protein? What else can you do to prevent Hair loss?

Luckily I have a great head of hair. It's happened once before and I got back on the protein wagon and it corrected itself.

Please be sure to talk to your doctor about your problems. It does sound like you need more protein, but your doc is the very best resource for how to resolve your issues. It was good to hear from you, but sorry to hear that you are having problems. Congratulations of the weight loss!

I've been away for the summer so I've not seen the dr since May. I go the end of Sept.

  10. Quote) Football starts soon and life will be crazy on the weekends. This leads to going hours without eating and the food options are horrible. I'll work on some options but right now a ready to drink Protein shake is going to be the best option.

I'm originally from Jersey, so this will make sense. Years ago my WW lecturer told us never to leave home without a

Falayta Bag. (I won't eat it now. I'll save it "forlater"). I always carry a zone bar or a Protein shot or anything I can eat. It's better than "options" I also use it as my doggie bag when I go out to eat.

    Perhaps a solution!!
