    Quick Question...

Don't be discouraged--we just have to be patint. I had my surgery Oct 2nd and I also started at about the same weight (223). I am now at 199. I lost the first 18 lbs during the first 2 weeks post op and then things just slooowed down to where I was afraid I'd never be able to reach my goal. At one point I even gained a lb - very discouraging seeing how I followed all the rules exactly as was told to do. I won't give up--I get on this forum daily and see where others have had this type of slow weight but eventually reach their goal! This gives hope and courage to keep on track. Today I finally lost a lb after over a week of being the same--hooray! Don't give up, have faith and you'll get there.
  3. For me it was having a Lap Band for 4 1/2 years with weight loss of 47 lbs. in the first 18 months and nothing after that. During that time I vomitted everything worth eating; port pain was aweful and I always felt doomed. Two of my cousins had sleeves when I had my lap band. At family reunion this summer I saw how Great they look and how happy they were. So I said to myself "This is it! I am going to get sleeved and have that same great quality of life too!" Its the best thing I've done for myself! I find myself smiling all day long. Does anyone feel like just skipping down the road like we did when we were kids?

    Hip Joint Pain And Exercise

Thanks so much for responding, the advise and encouragement. I have about 75 lbs to lose to get toy high weight goal--I really am excited about the prospect of less pain after the loss!! Yes, I had the sleeve done on Oct 2 so I'm going on my 4th week. I've lost 15 lbs so far-slow but steady so far, and that's ok by me. I'm going to see if I can find a Gazelle - that seems like an ideal solutions!! Thanks so much!
  5. I want to start a regular exercise routine to help me lose weight quicker. I have had 2 lower back surgeries (herniated disks) so there is some range movement limitation but not too bad. I have arthritis in both hips so it really hurts to walk; every step I take hurts. Christmas shopping to me equates to "oh no, my hips are going to hurt!". One of the main reasons I wanted to be sleeved was to lose weight, resulting in less weight on my joints and beating the pain! I don't have access to a pool. Does anyone else have this situation and does anyone have an exercise suggestion?

  7. So glad that I found this website! I don't know anyone nearby that I can talk to so I log in to this site for support. I was banded in late April 08 at Ochsner in New Orleans, LA by Dr. Richardson. I've had 2 fills and have slowly been losing weight. I've learned to recognize when I am full and try to stop eating right away. Sometimes I get this full sensation after just one bite; other times I'm ok and can eat a full cup of food. Something I have noticed however, is that I gain weight when I eat even the tiniest amount of carbs such as l/4 cup of pasta or something like that. Could this be my imagination?
