    It NEVER fails!

How's this for a theory? You have no fill, no restriction. You make an appointment and get nervous about it. Nerves have always affected my stomach. Tension = Restriction. Get a little fill and see how it goes.

    Golf Ball

Cold liquids definately don't work. Just sits on top of whatever is stuck. You might try a small amount of hot liquid, but not much. Stretching, walking, Yoga's downward facing dog, might help. Mostly, though, you just have to wait it out. Could take an hour or 24 (and I know this because ... :cry )

    Always Hungry and PBing

I think you need a follow up visit with your doctor and nutrutionist. If you are pb'ing that often, it could be that you are too tight and therefore eating the wrong kinds of foods. Sounds like you have developed some bad habits that they may help identify. Basically, you need a tune-up! Good luck and stay in touch with us.l

Abbey I'm sure your band is OK. Once is not going to hurt you. Continuing that activity might. Call you doctor for reassurance. It will make you feel better mentally, anyway.

To be banded 8/21 Emotional wreck

I think it is perfectly normal to be nervous about it. It is surgery, and life altering, after all. You are making a big change and leaving one of your best friends behind (food). Yes, there are risks, but they are pretty small. The informed consent form? That is usual and customary for everything they do. I even had to sign one of those when I had my colonoscopy. Most of us went through the *what do I think I am doing* stage, and the *I should just try harder* stage. I kept thinking about how many failures I've had. I just didn't want to have yet another one. I looked at this as my last chance. I still have a few more years to go and I wanted to enjoy all of them. I have no regrets.

Gone For Good Club- August 2006

Welcome, Lyn. Glad to see you on this thread. I feel really close to these folks. I've been looking at Telly's hair. I'm jealous. This heat makes me look old! Frizzy grey hair sucks! I hate my scales!

    help, stuck right now

Abbey I'm glad you're feeling better. Take care of your stomach - easy foods for the rest of the day. Maybe even tomorrow, too. I still think 2.5 cc's for a first fill is way too much. I would consider having some taken out - like down to 1.8 at least. You can have more in a couple of weeks or a month. This isn't a marathon. It's your personal journey and it shouldn't be awful. Now, look at that tortilla. Was it flour or corn? I never eat flour tortilla, but have corn all the time. Mexican food. Yumm.

    help, stuck right now

No, you don't have permanent damage. If this was a regular part of your routine and you did it all of the time, you could hurt yourself. Once is not a problem. Many of us have gone through it. Just take this as a lesson learned. You might want to eat soft easy foods for 24 hours as you esophagus isn't very happy with you right now. Then smaller bites, chew to goo, etc. You know the drill. I'm glad you feel better. I'm going to bed now. My work here is done:)

    Liquid stage question

I would think V-8 would be good, but not until you are past the clear liquid stage. I actually didn't stock up on very much. Mostly a little juice, Jello, chicken broth. I did buy some Protein shakes pre-surgery to taste them. Some I didn't like very much (YUK). You aren't going to be laid up for very long. You will be able to get yourself to the grocery store for what you are craving. And EM1125 - I pre-cooked some meals and froze them for my DH. Actually, cooking really wasn't much of a problem. You will probably be just fine.

    help, stuck right now

Yes, I think you could/should wait until tomorrow and then call him. While this is certainly stressful, and uncomfortable, I don't think it is an emergency unless you haven't been drinking for a couple of days. That's not good. You could get pretty dehydrated. And when that happens you could get pretty confused (loopy). If you ever do think you need to go to ER because of that, tell them you need an IV for hydration. You are not having a heart attack. My last golf ball started on Friday night and took 24 hours to pass. Hope this helps.

2.5 for your first fill? :omg: :omg: Oh, dear. Get back there asap and have about half of that taken out. My first one was 1.5 and second was .3 more. I am struggling with the golf balls, too, at that amount. I know tomorrow is Sunday, but if you can't eat/drink, I would consider it an emergency. They must have an emergency number??

    Diet?

I'm so sorry you weren't given better information. You won't feel very good and you could actually hurt yourself if you "just eat whatever I could tolerate but to stay away from greasy foods" I would spend a lot of time on the food forum. You should be starting out the first couple of weeks with liquids (anything you can suck through a straw - use your blender). Then a couple of weeks on soft foods like yogurt, cottage cheese. Then ease into real food. That is pretty basic advice, but I think it would be a good idea, too, to talk directly to your doctor. Insist. The nurse's advice sounds really bad. Good for you for taking care of yourself by eating gentle foods. Please keep posting and let us know how you are doing.

    Drinking Question

I wonder that, too. When I get a fill, they make me drink water in front of them so they know it will go through.

    help, stuck right now

You might try sipping some warm liquid - not much. Someone else suggested putting a little meat tenderizer in some Water and sipping. I haven't tried that, but it sounds plausible. Others say aloe juice. But be careful about drinking much. It could just aggrevate a bad situation. Try stretching your arms up high. Walk. Try a warm hot water bottle or heating pad. This is not pleasant and you will unfortunately have to work through it. So sorry. It may take awhile. Good luck

    Too Good To Be True?

Restriction from the band - the restriction of the amount of food you can eat won't really come for a few weeks, usually after your first fill, but maybe not even then. It might take a couple of fills. However, you stomach is pretty swollen right now and you most likely won't be able to eat for awhile. Stick with the eating guidelines your doctor gave you and read the literature, too if he/she gave you any. Investigate old threads here on the forum. Ask questions. We will help, too. Like you, I didn't experience any complications at all. My incisions were sore, and my port is still tender if I press on it. We are among the lucky ones that felt great from the get go.:clap2:

Hi! I am new just had my Lapband today

:welcomeB: This is a great place for support!
  22. That's what I do, too. I like the feeling of food in my mouth. I do have to pay attention, though. If there is a lively conversation around me, I need to take smaller ones, though. I don't want to get distracted and gulp it down :omg:
  23. I only used baby spoons when I was very new and still at home recovering. I honestly don't need a baby spoon to remind me. I just take small bites, put my utensil down, etc. No one notices anything except their own food.

    STRESS and the band

My stomach has always been what gets upset when I'm upset. I don't think you need to blame the band especially, but I agree with Jack to Google for some stress relief excercises or whatever. Best of luck. If she hasn't stayed at any school for very long, you may only have to put up with this for one year. Think positive!
