  1. Yay Alcine!!! I'm so happy for you! Unfortunately, my fill a couple weeks ago did nothing for me. i haven't lost a pound (actually i think i've gained but i'm avoiding the scale so i won't get disappointed). i think i'm going to line up another fill, cause i can still eat too much.
  2. i had my first fill last saturday, but i'm not sure if it's enough. i still feel hungry between meals some days, and i can eat 2 cups of foods at dinner. on the flip side, i'm tight in the morning and usually am only able to have a protein drink or some yogurt. and lunch is usually half a sandwich or some tuna and veggies. i find myself grazing all afternoon and some evenings too. should go in and get more?
  3. Has anyone tried PGX? I'm curious if it works.
  4. i wore a t-shirt dress and some sandals. wear something loose and comfy, ideally something that's easy-on easy-off. you'll probably end up wearing it home from the hospital too.

    Vancouver Area Bandsters

Hi Ladies, Just curious how everyone is doing? This thread has been pretty quiet for the past couple months... I just went for my first fill on saturday, and aside from the major bruise and some tenderness, it's going great. i can definitely notice a difference. i actually know what 'full' feels like now... yay! Patricia, missed you at the last meeting. Any luck with PS research? Sharon, not sure if you still read this or not, but how's it going? did the Mexico fill help?
  6. iwalktheline, stope scale watching!!! i've been losing and gaining the same 1-2lbs for the last 3 weeks and today i got on the scale and i was down 4 lbs. we've only just begun this journey. it will not happen overnight. and it might take a couple or more fills till your band is just right. i can't remember, have you had your first fill yet? if not, schedule one soon. also, are you getting in enough Protein (50-60g) and Fiber (25g)? take a deep breath, hide the scale, and take it one meal at a time. ((( HUG )))

    Post-Op Exercise

Just curious... How soon after getting banded did you start exercising? Did you stick to just cardio at first or weights and cardio? How about pilates? Could you do it like before or was there too much port pain? Thanks in advance, BABE
  9. if people asked, i just told them i was doing a cleanse to get all the toxins out of my body. and then post band, once i started eating smaller amounts, i just told them that i've changed my eating habits and trying to live a healthier lifestyle.
  10. i went for my first fill yesterday. I have a 4cc band and they started me out 1.4ccs. after sipping some Water, i could feel it just sitting there and not i was sure i was going to PB. they removed .6ccs so no i have .8ccs. the fill center nurses told me they doubt i'll need another fill for a long time (if ever). i'm a bit skeptical about this, but i'll wait and see. i was on liquids for 24hrs and just had some mashed potatoes for dinner. i definitely notice a difference. i have to eat slower, and take smaller sips of water. i'm curious how it'll be tomorrow when i start solids again. i really hope this fill works for me, cause i want start losing again!!! mrs mauricio, great news on the jeans!!! just think, in a few short weeks those puppies will be nice and loose on you
  11. peachwood, i'm curious why you're not able to get a fill for 90 days. is this doc's orders or is it something else? i was told to go for my first fill 6-8 weeks post op. oooh... i just read the part about it being an insurance company rule... omg, that is ridiculous!!! what are they hoping to achieve? ok, so solution time: pretend you're on your pre-op diet all over again (not some crazy all protein drink thing, but a lower carb, portion controlled eating style). also, use a food tracker like fitday.com or dailyplate.com or one of other million sites mentioned on the boards. reward yourself everyday for sticking to your plan by adding 25cents or a dollar to a jar. at the end of the month, use that money to buy yourself something nice (not food), maybe a clothing item, or an fancy body lotion or something indulgent like that. above all, just be patient and compassionate with yourself. it's ok to stumble a bit. your fill will happen before you know it.
  12. alcine, i totally relate. no weight loss for a couple weeks. it's so hard not get discouraged. on the up side, i've been measuring myself every week too and i've definitely lost inches on my waist and hips. maybe you could start doing that too. it will help to motivate you a bit during the no-loss times. i've never heard of that losing in reverse thing before. i'm going to have to pay more attention. although, in all honesty, i didn't notice where and when i put the weight on. i just grew bigger. i'm going for my first fill on saturday, and i can't wait! i definitely need one.
  13. shelly, thank you, thank you thank you!!! you have no idea how badly i needed to hear this tonight.
  14. I'm in the same boat. I haven't lost anything for a couple weeks. My I'm counting down the days till my first fill on apr. 4.
  15. it's the closest fill center to me. the fill doctor near my house doesn't use fluoro and hasn't much experience. since i was banded in Mexico, i wanted my aftercare facility to be as experienced as possible to avoid any complications. when i emailed my surgeon about when i should schedule a fill, i was told 6-8 weeks post op. i can't say i like that, but i'm going to follow doctor's orders.
  16. i'm eating 1200-1500 calories per day and 50-60g Protein. I've noticed since banding that i'm not getting in the 25g of daily Fiber. most days i only manage 7 or 8. i think i'll add some benefiber. now that the initial post band high is over, the challenges of this lifestyle change are setting in. it's so easy to fally into old patterns. i was expecting this and even prepared for it, but reality is a whole different thing. i haven't scheduled my fill yet, but i'm hoping to get to it later today. ideally, i'll be able to schedule it for this weekend or the next. the fill center i've chosen is a couple hours drive, so i need to plan it out.
  17. Hi Alcine, congrats on the loss! I haven't lost a pound this week. It's kind of depressing, but since I haven't had a fill yet and I haven't made the best choices, I'm not really surprised.
  18. i had a sore throat too for a few days post op. i found that sipping on tea or hot Water with a bit of lemon and honey really helped. make sure to double up on your Vitamin c. it will help strengthen your immune system and facilitate your recovery.

    Lower Mainland Fill Docs????

have you tried Northwest Fill Center in Marysville? I live in Vancouver, but i'm planning to use them for my fills instead of Dr. Arseneau (even though i live a few blocks away from his office). From what i've read, they're very professional and know their stuff. and they use fluoro too. Dr. A is the only fill doc in Vancouver. The 2 LB surgeons in Delta and Surrey will not fill you if you weren't banded by them (only in very rare cases). Dr. A is not a surgeon. He is an Eating Disorder's Specialist who has been trained to do fills. He is reputed to be be good at what he does, but keep in mind he does not use fluoro.
  20. hi iwalktheline! Congrats on your 15lbs, that's wonderful!! if it makes you feel any better, only 12lbs of my weightloss is post op. i was pretty bummed about that until rececently. i was always comparing my progress to others, but I realised that my body has always worked at it's own pace, so why would the band change that? after all, it's not like my body underwent a personality transplant, right?!? in a few weeks, after the first fill, i'm sure the weight loss will speed up. besides, 6 months ago i would have been overjoyed if i had lost 12 lbs in a month. i'm glad you've joined us on this thread. hopefully, we can all continue to support eachother over the next few months. hugs, babe
  21. Hey Alcine, I was about to congratulate you on the 25 lbs and say I can't wait to get there too, then i looked up on my ticker and noticed that I had lost that amount too LOL:). How's the post fill going? Was it your doctor who wanted you to get your fill or did you decide to? My doc told me to wait 6-8 weeks post op, so i'm curious about how your fill is.

  23. omg, same thing happened to me too! i was definitely eating too fast. i made spaghetti with meatballs, and could hardly eat any spaghetti. it felt like i was getting heartburn or something in my esophogus and i felt full after only a few bites. i waited fifteen minutes and felt better, so i thought i'd have some meatballs. it's so true what everyone says, if you take a break between bites and chew small bites, it all goes down way easier. this whole eating with the band is definitely going to take some getting used to.
  24. i haven't scheduled mine yet. the clinic said 6-8 weeks post op. i'm going to wait and see how my band reacts to different solid foods.
  25. i'm so bummed, i just did my weekly weigh in and i haven't lost anything!!! just finished 3 weeks of liquids too... this is so frustrating. i know i'm not really supposed to lose much till my first fill, but i thought for sure i would lose during liquids.
