Welcome to the forums, we are definitely glad to have you here.
First, allow me to say you are not alone. We got here by being foodies, and weight loss surgery doesn't cure that, it provides us a tool, but the old demons never really completely go away. Just about two weeks ago, I too came out and shared almost the same thing as you. I completely am there with you, I understand the feelings, failure, disappointment, humiliation, denial and just too many other emotions to list here. What is important is that you, I and others in our situation acknowledge that we have a problem and we take control of it. The support I have received here since "coming out" has been amazing. I am not 100% back on track, but I am slowly but surely starting to do the things I need to do to get back on track. And, so are you. You have started by coming to this great forum to seek support and advice. The members here will back you and do everything they can to help you.
What I am learning, that works for me, is to change one thing at a time. If I try to tackle everything at once, then I find I am fighting a losing battle. I sat down and identified the three top things I needed to correct first. For me, it was stopping on my way home from work for an unhealthy snack, not concentrating on eating my Proteins first and not keeping track of every bite that goes in my mouth. That gave me a starting point. I downloaded My Fitness Pal and started tracking everything. I am the only one who sees it, so there is no reason for me not to be completely honest with it and it was really enlightening for me to see how much junk I was eating. Next, I eliminated that unhealthy snack. I even went so far as to change my route home from work so I don't pass any stores to tempt me to stop. Now, I am working on the basics, of Protein first, then vegetables. This process is working for me. Once I have conquered these three steps, I will identify my next goals I need to accomplish to get me back on track and at goal again. I know you can do this. Just don't set unrealistic expectations for yourself, we are not newly sleeved, we don't have that advantage on our side anymore. But, we are still sleeved, and the tool still works. We just need to get back to basics and remember how good it felt to be healthy and not obese.

*susan* got a reaction from avermette in Attention Men - The Powder Room is for ladies only!
Men, while we understand that you may be curious as to what is going on in the powder Room, Alex and I respectfully request that you refrain from posting in this forum. The purpose of having a room for the ladies is so they may post about subjects specific to woman only, and feel comfortable in doing so. Many times these are sensitive issues, and this should be a safe place to discuss female related problems without the fear of being judged or being afraid that their issue may not be taken seriously. We will be, in turn asking the same of the ladies in regards to the Man Room.
    Thank you for your cooperation.

Steph, I like your idea about posting them above the scale, but I think I will take it one step further and post it in the pantry and on the fridge. That would be a good reminder whenever that urge to eat something not so healthy strikes.

Please join us Sunday, October 12 at 4:00 p.m. EST for a Bariatric Pal chat. The topic will be, "New Post-Op's".

This is your opportunity to ask all the questions about what to expect immediately post-op:
Is this normal? How will I feel? What can I eat? When should I call my doctor? How much weight should I expect to lose, if any? And anything else you want to know!!! Feel free to ask questions about what you need to do to be prepared immediately after you have had your surgery and what you should expect. Everyone is welcome, all questions are welcome. This is a great opportunity to chat with others, share your advice and learn a few things as well,

I look forward to seeing you there!

*susan* got a reaction from VSGAnn2014 in Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery
At almost three years, I found myself struggling, but a lot of it was due to depression and major back issues. Now that I am past that, I bought a fitbit, and I have to say in just a few weeks this little device has changed my life. I didn't realize just how sedentary I was at work. I now make a point of parking farther away, walking to the furthest bathroom, climbing the stairs and in general, just to move more. I also log all my food on their site. Every day, I was coming in way below what they recommend I needed to be eating. So, as an experiment, I upped my calorie intake to what it suggested I should be eating based on my age, weight, and the daily activity level data it gathered from my fitbit. I was amazed that by eating more, I kick-started my weight loss again. I have lost seven pounds since doing this. So, maybe I just wasn't eating enough to really get my metabolism going.

Please, if you wish to have a disagreement with someone, take it to personal messages as opposed to hijacking the OP's thread.
I personally believe it is vital to know everything you can about any type of surgery prior to having it, the good, the bad and the ugly. Everyone should educate themselves before making any life-changing decisions about their body. How can we do that, if we only know the positive outcomes, and not the possible negatives as well?
OP, I am so sorry you are having problems. I spent the first six weeks regretting having the sleeve. I couldn't even get hardly a sip of Water down, I was weak, couldn't work, had fainting spells, was nauseous 24/7, and ended up in the hospital three times due to severe UTI's and kidney infections from dehydration. I looked like a drug addict because of how many times I was placed on IV fluids. Fortunately, around week seven things started turning around for me. I was finally able to start taking in more fluids and more substantial Protein. I gradually began to feel better and now I love my sleeve. It was a rough start, but in the long run, for me, it was indeed worth it.
Most of us here are not doctors. We can only share our personal experiences and what did or did not help us. It is vital we stay in touch with our medical care team and openly communicate with them everything we are experiencing. If we don't, then they cannot help us and we are not doing ourselves any good. I am glad to see you are keeping in touch with them. Please keep us posted on how you are doing and I truly hope things improve quickly for you.
