I was able to have yogurt for my post op liquid, see if you can and add some Water to dilute if too thick. If you use greek yogurt (Oikos triple zero or ratio) you are looking at 15 to 25g of Protein.< br>

I had my procedure on 9/29/23. It went well. I stayed 2 nites because I couldn't get the liquids in. I am struggling a lil bit to get liquids in now that im home. However I can be creative with my liquids compared to in the hospital. Im optimistic I can do this. Just throwing my vanilla Protein Shake in the blender for 30 seconds gives it a different taste! I'm happy we are all here and I know we can do this!!

It took me 3 weeks, but every insurance is different, Weight Loss Hospital Programs, pre-op weight loss requirements are different.

I'm still pre-op, finished everything required. So now playing the waiting game on insurance approving. So frustrating.

Hi everyone. My name's Ryan and I'm from the United Kingdom and I had my gastric sleeve on September 25th - I was initially due to have a gastric bypass but once I was under, they realised it wasn't safe to perform that on me so I was switched to the sleeve. I hope to meet people in a similar circumstance to share our journeys with. 😊

Had my Surgery on 09/26/2023 surgery went great hardly any pain. Was discharged on 09/27/2023 had to go to the ER on 09/28/2023 because my hand that they put the IV in had swollen up because they irritated the veins so it gave me Superficial Thrombophlebitis my doctors office wanted to have an ultrasound done to make sure it was not a blood clot and thank god it was not they gave me a prescription for Motrin which I told them I could not take. They told me to just put a cold or hot compress on it and it should go down in a few days but other than that I am just trying to get my liquids in.

Hey 9/25’ers! How are you all doing? My RNY went smoothly. I credit my telling the surgeon to have a boring procedure for it going so well :-P. Still in hospital now, 3 PM da after. Just gotta get my BP down again and my liquid intake up. Looking forward to going home but will miss the access to the good pain meds. Haha.

Hey fellow 9/25ers. Also still in the hospital as my liquid intake wasn’t where they wanted. I’m supposed to be discharged this morning after a pretty successful evening/night. This gas and drinking pain has been no joke. Surgeon said surgery was textbook. No suprises. Looking forward to a gradual improvement. Hope everyone else is doing well.

liquids move through you really fast. food doesn't. You'll especially feel restriction when. you get on solid food (maybe not purees - but you probably will once you move to solid).

So it looks like your question was added in as a tag.
'I am 3 weeks post op and it is really hard to get in Protein I was reaching out to see if there is any type of hacks on how to get it down I have the powder kind also can someone explain to me what will happen if I’m not getting enough protein in

There are a variety of ways to get it down. Make it as is and break it down to half a shake twice a day. Make it more liquidy and sip on it throughout the day. Use unflavored Protein Powder and sprinkle it into other foods, such as broth or applesauce. Try protein Water which is thinner and comes in a many fruity flavors so it's not just the milky stuff. You can also boost the protein in yogurt with adding protein powder.
If you don't get in enough protein, you run the risk of losing muscle and not just fat. Losing muscle can also slow down weight loss. Also leaves you with less energy. Even though hair shedding is par for the course, having enough protein can lessen the shed and support healthy regrowth.
It can be difficult to meet the protein goals in the beginning, just try to focus on getting better day by day.

I don't tell people and didn't tell many people beforehand. Maybe 5 people know (at least directly know) Who knows what rumors have traveled or who ran their mouth. haha
Anyway, I get asked "what is my trick", "how are you loosing weight" ETC!.... A LOT, I simply say, "eat less and count calories". Which is exactly what I am doing.

This week we have a lot of visitors from the head office (I work in a remote site) and I've not seen some of them for quite sometime. Some even before Covid hit. I was the star of this week with everyone talking about my weight loss and all kinds of praise and encouragement. Almost everyone asked me how did I lose the weight including the big bosses from the client and the contractors.
I've only told my direct boss and the company managing director about my surgery. I took time-off to do it and told everyone else that I was going on vacation. It helped that we were still working from home while I was recovering so nobody noticed any change during that period.
I chose not to tell my coworkers because I didn't want the unsolicited advice and opinions some might have about the WLS and also the follow-up questions. I learned that from when I was on Keto and made the mistake of telling a few coworkers about it. Suddenly I would have people come over to talk to me about it or advising against it etc. It was too much. One guy in particular would come in a for a weekly update on how much weight did I lose etc.
Outside work, only my wife, my direct family and two of my closest friends know about my WLS. They have been very supportive and helped me throughout.
I've been telling people that I was on KETO, then started a low-carb diet and exercising. I even have a photo of me on my maintain bike to prove it 😂. I would love to hear how did you respond to such questions / remarks?

I had a lot of scar tissue and some other issues that were being corrected at the same time so I have had a rough time with managing pain since the surgery. I had surgery on the 11th, and on the 12th I ripped internal stitches so yay for superglue. The only thing that has saved me is wearing the binder near constantly. But I also have a VERY low pain tolerance and take norco daily for a nonhealing back injury. So they sent me home with oxy and a muscle relaxer. I had to get the muscle relaxer refilled and am currently trying to make do on the pain meds I normally take. So far so good and I'm back at the office today. Planning on working both jobs today so we'll see how tonight goes at the bar. Luckily hubby said he'd stick around after he sets up my speakers and see how I'm feeling and if I need him to emcee instead.

    Hi All!
Well, I did it! Yesterday morning (8/16/23) I had the surgery. The MD said the surgery went well, and on the outside, I only have 5 small incision spots, and they are all small.
My being up at 2:30am is not because of the surgery, but for the potty, and decided to take my pain meds, as well. My brain got working, so I decided to share.
I know that everyone's case is different, but mine has been pretty darn smooth. What surprised me most is that I have more pain from the gas (subsiding) than the incisions. I figured that cutting me up and taking out a major chunk would be seriously painful afterward, and had a pre-op discussion with my doc about only getting gabapentin for pain. I totally understand the current ban on giving codeine, but post-op limited quantities should not be a ridiculous request. 'Nuff said.
Anyway, 15 (or so) hours after surgery, I am doing well! There still is some gas pain, but not much. My incision sites are sore to the touch, but no major aches/pains. I guess my doc has done this before!
My throat was very sore from the the things passed down it, so had my hubby get some chloraseptic mouth spray. It numbs your throat and was a great help for swallowing. I don't need it now. However, SIPPING is the rule! I got major gas feedback from anything I ingested, still do to a lesser extent. I am posting a pic of the post-op drinks I have for the first 2 days. Doc told me hydration was most important, followed by Protein for first 2-3 days. I got both from Amazon, and they come in a variety of flavors. Diabetics beware: they also add fake sugars (erythritol, scralose), though not much. So far, I have had 1.5 of the Protein2O since surgery. Later today I will do better, as swallowing is getting easier.
Anyway, I am moving slowly, and a bit unsteady on my feet, but walking around the house does help to get rid of some of the gas. Sitting here typing gets me scrunched up, and that is not good for the gas, so I will close for now. I hope this all helps all that are still awaiting surgery. 🙂
    Have a great day!
