Sleeved 01/06/2023 and as of today I'm 200 lbs even. I'm supppppper close to ONEderland! I eat between 800-1200 calories a day (usually about 1000 calories a day). I attend aqua aerobics 1x a week and try to walk at least 5 days a week. With a desk job, I have to make a conscious effort to move because I sit so much. Overall I feel great, I still deal with fatigue but I'm anemic so that's to be expected... and still less tired then I was pre-surgery. My post-op bloodwork all came back great (with the exception of my Iron which has always been an issue). Type-2 diabetes in remission.

I am a little over 3 months post-op. I have lost close to 60 pounds now. I would like to lose another 20 pounds, and am on track to do that. I sometimes worry that I will lose too much but I know I'm just being ridiculous. 😂
I feel good even though I am still having issues meeting Protein and fluid goals. I think I am going to go back to having protein Soups for lunch to help with that. I've been trying to up my calories but having a hard time going much over 600-700 a day. I have tried all kinds of meat and veggies at this point and have only had issues with some chicken thighs one time, when I ate too much, too fast and got the foamies.
All of my rings, shoes, and clothes are too big. It is expensive to lose weight.

Today, I had someone not recognize me, which was wild.

That will definitely help! I started doing 30 min of stationary bike on week 3 - just be really careful about how much you're exerting and make sure you're well hydrated. Prior to sx I was in the gym 2-3 times a week and definitely miss being able to guzzle half a bottle of Water when I start feeling too hot.
29 lbs as of this morning - 4 weeks and 3 days postop! It feels really good and I'm actually starting to notice some differences in clothes. 30% to my goal!

Is it okay to drink Vitamin Water?

I tried the sonic water flavor packets that way and it taste much better. You should definitely try it this summer 🙂

I dont either. Its so hard. But I know right? The my ounces went up by 7 ounces. Frustrating! Maybe not eat my last meal so late. Probably my issue as well. I have a weight watchers scale. I can't wait to start going to the gym! I plan on starting at week 5. I have a friend who agreed to go with me 3 times a week. Things should hopefully move better right? I'm only going to start with walking and the bike. Then each week increase the time by 10 minutes. Once I get cleared to do other exercises, I plan on 30 minutes of cardio then whole body workouts on the machines. Eventually increase cardio up to 45 minutes then whatever time it takes to do the other workouts. I have a fitbit watch that I should start using too.
Yay! That's awesome! How much are you down so far since surgery?

Oooh no I've never tried it that way! I'll have to remember that in the summer time.
I know some people do better with avoiding the scale, but I do not 😩. I weigh myself at the same time everyday and every little 0.1lb movement is encouraging to keep going. My scale doesn't list ounces, but it does go to the 1/10th pound, so I do track it like that. I have a garmin scale so everytime I weigh it syncs to my app so I have all my activity tracking from my watch and my weight progress in the same spot.
After a week of very little scale movement, it dropped 2 lbs this morning so I think I'm over the stall! I'm cleared for working out so I've just started back in the gym last week and I added some jogging in yesterday as well so I think that will help keep things moving more than just walking or biking.

It's crazy how much tastes change! I used to love pickles and now I can't stand them. The first week or so postop I couldn't do cold water and didn't really want room temp water so I drank a lot of gatorade zero. I tried the gatorade zero Protein, but could not deal with the after taste. Last week though everything started to taste really sweet so I went back to water and have no issues now with cold water. When I feel like I want something other than water, I just grab a crystal light packet and add it in. fruit punch is my favorite flavor, but I have to double the water I mix it with because it's pretty strong.
Monday was 4 weeks postop for me and it's amazing how much difference 10 days can make! Physically, I feel totally fine - no remaining soreness or pain. My doctor cleared me for soft foods including "chewing non-soft foods to an applesauce consistency" so I haven't stuck to any specific foods but still trying to figure out what works for me which is mostly chicken and shrimp. I finally hit the (delayed) 3 week stall and haven't seen the scale move at all this week, but I'm keeping my motivation up with exercise and hope to see that big dip soon.

Good morning! I have had gastric bypass and my surgery went well which was done 20 years ago. I have had health issues cone up as I get older but hopefully nothing to worry about. My brother had gastric bypass in October 2022 and he cant eat. He vomits are not even due to food but any gastric contents that he has in his stomach. He literally has not even a teaspoon of food but that still upsets his stomach. Drinking any liquids is as bad as trying to eat. He is pretty much skin and bones at this point. He has taken every over the counter medication and even prescriptions do not help. He has had medical test that show nothing and he has become desperate as to hos current condition. He was a vibrant man before and now he has become this sickly man that looks like an frail older man. Does anyone have any suggestions on how he can keep his food down or how to resolve this problem? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you and have a great day!

He needs to go back to the surgeon and demand the dr to look into why this is happening. There has got to be a reason he cant eat. If that surgeon wont do anything he need to go to a different one.

DrinkMoreRadium got a reaction from Bandedbut in No insurance requirements/Surgeon requirements
I can't speak to the insurance part, but my surgeon doesn't require anything from cash patients. They told me that if I was paying cash, I could be scheduled for the next available surgery date. So it's very possible that your surgeon wouldn't require anything additional if your insurance approves it outright.
    Good luck!

I am 13 days post op and I can tell you it does get easier! I didn't make my fluids or Protein goals at all until about 4 days ago and I've been able to make both (barely!) If i concentrate on it. This is also with me going back to work last week as well so hang in there!

I second the biotene spray or lozenges. I am 10 days post op and these saved my mouth in the first couple days. I did ask the clinic nurse if I was allowed and she meant to ask the surgeon but never got back to me. I imagine they would have said no, but I snuck them in anyway. I only used them about 5 times within 24 hours post op though. After that, I had Water and ice so there was no need.

Had my surgery. Not feeling that great. Stomach is in some discomfort. Had 8 big polyps removed. 1 was super big, inflamed, and granular. So a biopsy was done on it. On the 10th, I'm having 8-10 removed again. Not sure if that's going to be all of them. Might have to do a 3rd surgery. There was some bleeding today, so the doctor could only do the 8 today. I slept a good portion of the day away, and I'm only having a Protein Shake for meals. Hoping I can move on to Soup and maybe soft foods tomorrow and normal food by Sunday. Definitely not feeling great, tho. Blah.

I am OFFICIALLY in a size 7 ring!!! And my size 18/20 clothes are beginning to get a little loose. Holy crap!!!!
I'm having my 1st procedure to remove (hopefully) half of my pre-cancerous polyps in my stomach on Friday the 17th. The 2nd (and hopefully last) one will be on March 10th.
I'm thinking my revision (going from my gastric sleeve to a gastric bypass out of necessity, because of what the sleeve is doing to my stomach and my esophagus) will be in May or June. I can't wait to get through that and just get back to living my life.
So tired of all these medical issues. I just want to go back to working out the way I used to and FEEL BETTER. So tired of this.

I had surgery Monday (2/13) and was doing well and got discharged on Tuesday. The pain had been tolerable, so they only prescribed me some light pain relievers.
I'm just curious how long the pain/soreness lasts? I can handle it but it definitely puts a damper on things. I'm home from work for the week, and I can take another week off if needed. My biggest thing, as silly as it is, is that I'm a side and stomach sleeper and I can't do that right now lol
How long did the soreness last everyone else?

I just had my gastric sleeve on 2/8/23 and I wish I would have known how good I would feel. I was so scared. Starting on day 3 I just keep feeling a sense of happiness that is amazing! I feel really good- no restriction with fluids, still on clear liquid.
I’ve had no issues, no vomiting, no heartburn, no issues drinking or getting my fluids and Protein in, I feel so freaking good, so happy, it’s as if the surgery just instantly reset my hormones LOL! Not one shred of buyers remorse.
I hope you all have an easy recovery with no pain or issues just as I am having.

Well I'm 4 days post op! Zero issues with hydration and Protein. 80 0z liquids so far today and 65 grams of protein. Never had "sharp pain" but felt like I had an ab workout from hell that I'm still trying to get over the soreness lol. No nausea. No diarrhea. No leaks. No complications. Had surgery at 10 am the 1st and headed home around 9am the next morning. No issues with my chewable vitamins. No horror stories of gad pains from the lapo. Was belching day of surgery, passing gas by day 3, first BM day 4. Taking Miralax each morning, mixed w Gatorade zero. Taking just Tylenol, still have two "pain pills" just in case. Drove my car today! No temp or taste issues. I feel super grateful my luck so far! Down 11.6 lbs but I'm assuming IV fluids weight is alot of that number. I have 6 incisions like the first photo. The bruised one is the one they place the stapler through.
