    Surgery tomorrow

Hi everyone, I'm due to go in for my surgery at 7am tomorrow. We have an hour and a halfs journey to get there so it will be an early start! I have been on my pre op diet.....shakes and fruit n veg for 7 days and have lost 10 pounds already.....I can't believe that, I've never lost that much in one go no matter which diet I have done. I think thats unnerved me more than ever because now I'm doing the "do I really need this band thing???" I know I do though because I will just put it back on if I don't. So that leaves me with 59 pounds to go which I hope my band will help me to lose. I'm really up and down today, nervous but excited and kind of relieved that its actually happening. Good luck to anyone else who is going in over the next few days. I'll post when I'm back out and have managed to get through the gas pains I'm expecting having read oh so many posts on it !! xxx:lol:

    Surgery tomorrow

Thanks Ro, doing some mental excersises in preparation.....it's the most excersise I've ever done tehee. Trying to get my head round drinking these supposedly chocolate protein shakes for another 3 weeks....You doing any pre-op yet? Weight
  3. Hi All this is my first post, I am in the UK and being banded on August 18th. I've being reading with interest all the posts to try to prepare myself and am anxious but excited at the same time. I don't have a very high BMI but have been overweight all my life, numerous risk factors in the family and my inability to maintain any weight loss prompted my decision to be banded. I'm going for my pre-op assessment tomorrow but my main worry is how to deal with emotional eating after being banded. If anyone has had experience or has nay words of advice about this I would love to hear from you.

Started my new life 8/01.mixed emotions

Hi everyone,I do have the same fears too, I'm being banded on 18th August in the UK. I keep remembering though that I did the cambridge diet for quite a while and lost weight on just x3 shakes a day. I don't recall finding it that difficult over the 6 weeks I did it for, I just couldn't sustain it or keep the weight off. If I can manage this I'm sure I can manage x4 weeks of liquids. I think this will be a real lesson for me though, afterall I'm going to have to learn to deal with people at meal times in the working and social environment in the future without a huge plate of food to hide behind and I think my family and in the home might be a good place to test out my ways of coping with this. Glad to be joining you all here and hope to be able to share my experiences after being banded too

    Soon to be banded

hey, it's really good to hear that others feel the same and even better to hear that it hasn't been a major issue since being banded....gives me some hope that I might not be a hopeless case. I suppose if you really want it to work and try to stay positive it can only help. Its great to have a place like this to chat and share and really useful to hear from those that have been there and done it too! Thanx for all the responses

    Soon to be banded

Hi Stace, I too have read the shrink yourself book cover to cover, strangely before deciding on the surgery also and found it really interesting. It's funny though despite knowing that I'm overeating and usually knowing why, I still struggle to know when to stop (I have an endless ability to eat without any sensation of fullness) and so I've never managed to nail this eating thing. Sooooo having gone round and round in circles reading self help then diet then self help book after book I have decided finally to do something practical in order to deal with it. Who knows though, maybe I'll pick the book up again after my surgery? You sound really excited about your date, have you been waiting long? R
