    GIRL.
Thank you for saying this. I swear it feels (mainly cause no one talks about it) that I am the only person in the world that has trouble wiping. Sometimes my husband has to help if it's a bad day and I can't bend far enough. I have a bruise on my wrist where it hits the toilet seat every time I wipe. It is horrifyingly embarrassing, but something I live with day-to-day. I can't WAIT for this to not be a problem anymore.

    K here’s one that’s not exactly an NSV, more like an NSF (no scale FAIL);
Soon after surgery as the weight started coming off, i developed chronic/ongoing lower back and hip pain, which i learned was due to my bones and musculature forming/setting in a certain way over the years to support my larger frame and was no longer set optimally to support my shrinking frame.
After a couple months, the pains went away, as I guess my body started re-aligning for my new size, with a big thanks to my exercise routine which i know helped.
Anyway, around the time i got to goal, i started getting my lower back pain again (not all the time like before, but enough to be annoying), which i attributed to my bad seating posture. So i just kept doing core exercises and trying to sit up straight. No improvement.
It’s been about 3 years since the pain came back and this week a chiropractor helped me finally figured out what the problem is!
It’s my lack of stomach for effs sakes.
Im a stomach sleeper and because i no longer have bulk in my midsection to prop up my spine from below, I was basically hyper exaggerating my lumbar curve, causing the pain.
He told me to try sleeping with a pillow under my lower stomach for a few days and see if it helps.
    OMG it totally did.
Its not as comforting as sleeping on my old bigger stomach, but at least i don’t have pain the next day. So a sorta win, lol.
P.S. I realized i just wrote alot again. Sorry! Im feeling wordy tonight…

It occurred to me today that after 20 years of eating 6-20 Pepcid complete a day, I haven’t had one in almost 2 weeks!
You are correct…this is life changing!

So glad you are feeling better and got that fixed!
My hernia was nowhere near as bad, but even then getting rid of the constant gerd from it is a lifechanger.

Thank you! That does explain why people experience the stall without being constipated. It may have been a concurrent phenomenon, but all I know is that as soon as I got all that stuff out of me, my weight started dropping again and is continuing to. I also wish my surgeon had warned me. I’m going to ask if she agrees with the concept of the early stall.

Oh yeah. That pain went away within a week to a week and a half. That's why they say small sips and liquid only. Everythings freshly cut and sewn and all swollen.

I have NEVER, ever in my life worn smaller than a large, even at my thinnest. Back when I was this weight ok the 90sb I think sizes were a little smaller than they are now. I bought some shorts recently at Walmart and I got large. They fit OK but are big around the legs. I really liked them though so I went back for more and got a medium. I thought there is no way these will fit and I was shocked that they're perfect. A MEDIUM. Even if it is vanity sizing, I'll take it! I have never worn a medium anything in all my 50 years!

I didn't feel any restriction at all during the soft/pureed food stages. As of Friday, though, I am on regular food. Boy can I feel the restriction now! I JUST had only my second experience with vomiting after a meal - I think I just ate my little bowl of food too fast and had a bite or two too much. Also, definitely follow the rules about stopping liquids 30 min before or after meals or you will get that over-full feeling!

Probably. I stalled when I switched from Clear Liquids to full liquids. Someone here shared a video where a bariatric surgeon explains the cause of the early stall. It's nothing that you are doing wrong. Your initial weight loss would have mostly been Water loss that eventually catches up. The stall is just the body processing the changes to your diet and your new stomach. Some recommend only weighing once per week or month so that you don't lose hope in the process. Also, if you are doing any exercise and had previously lost muscle tone - you will be gaining muscle that will also move the scale back a little. But, even though I stalled for the entire 2nd & 3rd week post surgery, I could tell my clothes were still getting looser by the day.

Afriend of mine had surgery done in mid-october. To date, she has lost 90 lbs, and she is at her goal weight. She told me that even when she was in a stall and loss of pounds was not showing on the scale, she was losing inches. It's a process. Congratulations and keep up the good work!

Update on my progress. Surgery was May 13. I lost a pound per day the first week, then stalled for 2 weeks. Finally loosing again! Down 26lbs so far, including pre-op diet. Have been working out 5 days per week on elliptical and on regular food now as of Friday. Struggling to get my 60 oz of Water in, but started using my timer yesterday to remind me to sip something every 15 minutes except before and after meals. I have only had nausea once and have only vomited once - both times caused by drinking too close to meals.
Overall, this has been a much better experience than I anticipated since I am 62 yrs old. Surgeon says I'm doing great! I only took 3 days off work, and then worked from home for 2 weeks (desk job).
  18. Congrats!

I know this is a common one but im particularly excited about it because I distinctly remember being 340 lbs and watching these "progress" videos of other women with towels wrapped around their body, showing how they gradually start fitting into bath towels as they lose weight and I remember feeling so sad and discouraged...like I didn't have it in me to get there too. I'm traveling and in a hotel right now and to my surprise this is the first time a regular "hotel" towel has wrapped all the way around my body without a humongous gap exposing my side and stomach. I am so happy about this I can't even explain it. It just confirms it for me that I can have the things I want, that I deserve them too and am just as strong to fight for them.

Photo: the first picture is from just a week preop, the second is from today. Yes...I had to censor my booty cheek lol that whole blue part is the towel that didn't close and that towel is bigger than this one I have here.

I know this one is pretty common, but it's still so important to me. Left the hospital off of metformin and checked my blood sugar the next day - 90. 90! I haven't been under 100 in so long. Very excited for my future health.

I do something sorta in between. I have a shake for Breakfast and usually have a lunchable or a slice of egg white quiche for lunch which I know the average calories. I always keep my dinner right around 500 calories (I only have a handful of things that I eat because I am pretty picky eater) and I allow myself Snacks that are about 100 calories when I am hungry. I do not track my snacks but I do keep them low calorie. Then I just weigh myself and if I gain I know that I have been giving in to the head hunger too much so I really ask myself if it’s real hunger. So I guess I do track my meals (I just have done the calculations already so I don’t have to do them daily) and I restrict my snack choices but not the quantity.

Congrats on your surgery! The first couple of days were tough for me too, the key thing is to take care of yourself, rest when you need to, it’s so important for your recovery.

Don’t obsess about walking, as long as you are moving about periodically you’ll be great. Each day for me came with a little more energy, and it was easier to get fluids in, then it was easier to walk, which gave me a bit of an appetite etc, etc. I promise you it’ll get easier - keep the faith & trust the process 😊
