Enjoy those soups while you can because they'll be nearly a food of the past once you start feeling restriction. I so miss my soups at lunch. I love the beef and barley, southwestern chicken w/rice and fajita chicken soups. But, they're slider foods now. Oh, sometimes I'll have one but the penatly is that I'm still hungry an hour later since they don't satiate me and I guess they never did.

Well, you're splitting hairs here. Yes, sipping is recommended. Gulping, no. But I can gulp and I'm in the green zone. Too bad you didn't post this sooner. The support group meets at N Suburban in Thornton tonight. Kelly Elliott is the moderator and she's incredible. She's my nutritionist and is the same for 4 doctors.
You don't say when you got filled? Who filled you? Johnell? Call his office in the morning. You may be filled too much.
What foods are hurting you? Getting a fill requires that you learn how to eat with each new fill. It trained me to keep eating smaller and smaller bites and to chew a lot more.

Yes, you are overthinking this. My liquid diet post-fill was 48 hours. A fill will make your band squeeze your stomach more and can cause some inflammation. If you try to pass too much food through your stoma you could cause more inflammation and even create an ulcer. He's asking you to ease into your new stoma(portal) with caution.

Do you watch Big Bang Theory? Here's a song from the BBT that Sheldon's mom would sing to him and rub his tummy when he was sick:

What kind of protein are you consuming? Have you tried slider foods and do they pass through?

Take pictures. You won't regret it.

Boobs are overrated ;op
Yes, you are in an exciting part of your journey. Keep that enthusiasm.

How long have you been stalled?

My doc says not to eat a big lunch before coming in and eat about 3-4 hours before my appt. So far, so good.

Protein shakes are the ultimate sliders. They satiate only for a short time.

Made a big Cinco De Mayo feast for the family and I just dived in as if I never had the band put on 5 months ago. Funny how my stomach informs me that I've eaten too big a bite and ate too fast and didn't chew enough. It also seems to tell me just after I've stuffed my cheeks with a huge next bite. So I sit there, chewing and chewing and thinking, where's this bite going to go? Stomach to brain, not in here, no way, no how.
Congrats on the loss. I'm only at 24 after 5 months so you're doing well.

I'm with the byrd. I'm at about 10 ccs and needing one more fill(6th). I keep hoping the next fill will be the green one but it hasn't happened. After monitoring this site for a while now, I think some of us respond to the band differently and may never have that feeling like Fab Sasha. Sad, but it's still working for me, only not as well as or how I thought it would be.

Your post is disturbing. I've only been banded for 5 months and so far so good. I know and I knew going in that there are no guarantees that this would work. Maybe it won't?
However, I've met dozens of people through support groups, Dr appointments and through this forum who would disagree with your heartfelt and passionate comments. Obviously you're disappointed that the band did not work for you and maybe it was the band, the surgeon, or, you? There are so many variables with human nature that it can't be difinitive.
People reading your post might interpret your motivation as an angry attempt at disparaging a product that has without question, helped thousands of people regain their dignity and health. But to state that they are "horrible" and they don't work, flies in the face of reality.
You're angry and you're striking back. In the future I'd recommend you state this: "Buyer Beware. This may not work for you." But I knew this long before I made the commitment and so did you.

My Mom only saw me once or twice a year. We lived far apart and she never traveled. When she would see me she'd say, Danny, you're getting fat. I remember it hurt my feelings since sometimes I had just lost 20-30 lbs. She's passed on now and I'd give anything to hear her tell me how fat I am again.

I'm starting to think that this forum/Site should have some kind of disclaimer for bandsters who have just had surgery or are having it soon. Maybe make everyone who wants to read the posts agree that they have read the disclaimer?
"WARNING"
This tool(band) may not work for many months to
come. Everyone reacts differently to the band and
most won't feel any restriction for 2-5 fills.
I know I too was blown away when after about 2 weeks I wanted to eat a plate of chicken fried steak at Black Eyed Pea(I didn't). Some people tell you to start dieting? Crap, I tried that for years and it didn't work. LOL...But, I'm confident that like many people I've met at support groups that this shall pass and one day I'll get that "fill" that transports me to the "Green Zone". I did lose 12 lbs and have kept it off but I'm still in bandster hell and looking for the exit.

Thanks for the inspiration. I saw you in one of your Lake Powell sweatshirts. My weight is one of the reasons I haven't gone in many years and hope to remedy that problem by this summer.

Thanks Nessy. I was banded on 11/28 and it seems like I can eat anything I want now that the swelling has gone down. My wife said she was surprised at how much I'm able to eat. I'm eating less than I used to but much more than we both thought I would be able to eat. I'm still watching what I eat and still losing weight but curious how that first fill will effect me? Thanks for the info.
