  1. Hi All, wondering if anyone has had this issue and can offer any advise:

My surgery was on 1/9/23. At my appt on 1/17/23 I was down 35 lbs, 10 of which was from the week prior to surgery being on liquid diet. My doctor switched me to purée as of 1/17 which I’ve been following to a tee. But ever since switching my scale has been stuck, no loss and actually up 1 lb yesterday - back down that 1 lb today. I’m worried because I’m told the biggest weight loss happens in first 90 days, did I go through all of this for just 35 lbs lost?[emoji30]
    Hi Alanaczac,
I hear your frustration that's exactly how I felt untill a friend of mine shared this link with me which gave me a piece of mind when we know why things happen it's easier to deal with and continue the journey with a positive mindset pls watch this vid and good luck with you journey [emoji4][emoji106]

Crossing my legs when sitting in a chair. Putting on socks is easy, sitting or standing. Bought a new pair of pants 3 months ago that I can barely wear anymore because now they're too big too. Almost never sweaty. No huffing and puffing when walking or hiking. Bought a kayak and don't feel too big for it. No longer worried that camping chairs will buckle under me. Aches and pains in my hips and legs are nearly gone. All in all, all is good!

Wow can't wait to experience all of the above, congratulations you've done well so happy for you👏👏👏👏😊😊😊

I just walked straight up the stairs, quickly, without getting out of breath, because I needed to get something from my bedroom. Didn't even think about it.

I used to have to haul myself up with my arms, stopping on each step.

Now I'm looking for excuses to take the stairs just to show off!

Oh wow! that is such great progress👏👏

I'm the same I hold onto the rails pulling myself up or if I'm really tired and my knees are hurting I will go up in crawling position😞

How are all of the July folks going, preop and postop? I'm starting liquid pre-op a day early because I'm paranoid about my liver not being small enough. July 20th date for me. I cheated on preop once by having a bite of Pasta and I woke up with stomach pain so not my best moment.

Good luck on your surgery 🤞🙏

    And keep us posted 😊

I had RNY. I was in the hospital a little over 24hrs. liquid is going ok. It’s so hard to meet Protein goals! I’m feeling better everyday. The first 3 days were the worst for me.

We hear different outcomes from every individual it's a mystery to see what waits around the corner for us isn't it. I'm due to have a RNY and hiatal hernia repair- really curious to see how I'll be recovering PO.

Wishing you a speedy recovery and many hugs Edmira!

Three times?!? Oh no - that sounds awful. The worst has to be behind you and FOURTH TIME WILL BE THE CHARM. :)

I really hope so kthorn1 it's all due to kovid - no beds available (sigh)

You prepare so much and then bang! it's a false alarm.

Oh well everything happens for a reason I guess lol

I am experiencing new NSV victories every day! 🤗

Yesterday, dh and I went to the beach…he has to find a new boat slip. I walked around the cutest little town (3000 steps) and did not have to sit and get my breath because of that damned hiatal hernia. 🎉🎉🎉🎉

THEN, we went to the beach! On memorial day weekend I couldn’t take 3 steps without being short of breath. Yesterday we walked on the beach for 1 mile and I didn’t Have to stop at all. Additionally, usually on any walk prior to surgery, my heart rate would be 138 when exercising to my max, and now I only get to 116!
I am beyond thrilled! My surgeon told me I would absolutely be able to run again after recovering. 🤗

Wowww congrats so happy for you Marianne👏👏👏😊 Can't wait to get this surgery done so I can experience all these wonderful things as well😁😁😁😁😁

Thank you. I am amazed! One of my daughters is a doctor, though, and she tells me that the diaphragmatic breathing is vitally important to our good health. I never had a clue about any of this, never verbally articulated the shortness of breath EXCEPT to attribute it to a long term term effect of COVID. Obviously, I was wrong. 🤦🏻‍♀️

    WHO KNEW? Certainly not me.🤷🏻‍♀️

Oh wow I just read the link😳 I certainly didn't know either, so interesting. Thanks for sharing Marianne🙏

I am going to give the vitamin patches a 👍. I bought them from the store at this website. I actually wear 2 of each that I bought...double the dose. I do this because my nutritionist told me they were not effective. 🤷‍♀️ Of course when someone tells me something is ineffective, it stands to reason that I buy them and use twice as many as directed.

When I upped to two patches/day of each pack that I bought (iron; Omega 3s; B-complex; Biotin for hair, skin and nails; multi-vitamins; and D3 with calcium;), I did feel a difference when I was consistently using them every day for about a month.

And, I know that's 12 Patches which does take some time in the morning, but I am giving them a thumbs up!

    Oh wow!

Thats great to hear. can you send me the link pls🙏 I definitely want to try them😳

Hi all: I’m hanging out in June SB because I am hoping against hope that my surgery date is mid June. My Results visit is 5/16 and I hope to get the date at that visit. Cigna has had my insurance packet for 1 week. Doctor’s office says they take 2 weeks to study it.
I began the liver shrinking diet on Tuesday, 5/3 (per doctors office) and I’m down 6 lbs which is nothing short of a miracle for me.
A typical eating plan in a day is 2 Atkins Plus shakes, 1 or 2 Oikos yogurts, an Aldi Shrimp meal (140 calories), 64oz Water and sugar free ice pops. I WAS hungry on Day 4-yesterday- but I dropped 2 lbs overnight which explains that.
I’m using vitamin patches because they are easy and convenient. My nutritionist said they are not effective but drinking all that Water makes the thought of swallowing pills impossible. I get blood drawn in one month and any positive change in my levels means the Patches are okay. We’ll see.
Good luck to all…I am having RNY LAP with hiatal hernia repair.
Oh, yeah, endoscopy scheduled tentatively for 5/20.
Keep your surgery and recovery stories coming. I learn so much from them.

I would love to hear your outcome from the vitamin patches Marianne if they work I'm definitely going to try some bc I'm just so hopeless in remembering to take my supplements daily lol

I’m sorry it has been rescheduled. I guess that’s another reason to go to Mexico. I am an RN and work for a major hospital group…in home health. If I worked for the hospital, they would cover 100%. Since I do home health….they have no bariatric rider so I have to pay cash. I never thought that I would get this far with it. I realize I’ve been on my high Protein low carb diet just 24 hours, but not once did I stop and get a Pepsi or food. I took PB and celery, ate tuna and yogurt throughout the day. The hardest part will be spaghetti and potatoes. I love my Pasta but that’s what has me at 254 pounds. We can all do this. Best of luck to you and keep me updated!

    Hi Janet,

Unfortunately here in Australia if you select to go on the public health systems elective surgery waiting list its free! BUT you have to be willing to wait 4/5 years. I waited 5 years and just when my name came up, bang! covid hit the scene, so had another 2 and half years added to the wait time, you can imagine my excitement risen so high and then comes crashing down twice.

I'm too a Pasta person and pataoes oh my lol but my number one go-to had always been crusty bread and butter on top with coffee lol hence why I reached my peak at 240lbs lol Well it's never too late for anything I'm still grateful for our public health system for providing free surgeries for it's citizens (although it's a fair wait lol)

    Thank you 🙏

And best of luck to you too🙏🙏

Good morning everyone; praying all is well with you. I wanted to share something with all of you; Yesterday, my wife and I took our grandson out to lunch. I ordered a burger (not fast-food) and shake.... after eating the food that I shared with everyone, I only had half; I began to have that "dumping feeling". i had the sweats and headache. So yes, after 13 years since the surgery, I still have to watch what I eat. This new life is lifetime.

    Oh my 😳

    Hope your feeling ok?

And thank you for sharing this as it gives us something to be mindfull of.

  20. Hello everyone! My name is Janet and I am new here. Just started my 2 week prepping diet this am. Surgery is on the 14th of June in Mexico and I’m having the sleeve done. Any important information y’all have gleaned from your own experience to pass on Would be helpful.

Hi Janet I've been rescheduled twice already due to covid cases my 3rd scheduled date is the 27th of June and I think I've now become immune to the excitement and enxiety of the "big day" lol
I'm now just in waiting mode to see if it will happen on the proposed day[emoji4]
Sending you lots of luck and hugs for your surgery day[emoji847][emoji847][emoji847]
