    May 2022 surgery?

Hi Possum, Yes I'm getting a two-for-one deal LOL I'm so glad that it's going to get fixed and I'm finally going to have a peaceful nights sleep without the fear of waking up with acid rushing up! Apparently when I lose the weight the hernia will not return, it's weight-related as I've been told by my surgeon, I'm supposed to be on two shakes plus low starch low carb vegetables but I haven't started it yet. I'll start right after mother's day lol I've already lost 13 kilos with my own efforts anyway so I'm assuming 1 week of liquid diet should be sufficient. Hope they can fix yours as well and all the best to you on the 9th keep me updated please! We got this girl! lol

    May 2022 surgery?

Yes it is very discouraging! but little do they know is how determined I am! I just wish they realise how much I need their support! Yes I too have a few family members and friends who actually support me and are happy for me but the ones who are negative really do weigh me down (one of the negatives is my mum lol) I just change the subject now and don't allow them to make any comments about the surgery anymore lol. I'm so happy that I've joined this forum as it's given me such Insight and knowledge the more I learn the more I build confidence towards the due date which is May 16th. It's nice to see we're not alone. Sent from my SM-N981B using BariatricPal mobile app

    May 2022 surgery?

We're surgery buddies! I'm due for gastric bypass and hiatal hernia repair on May 16th. As far as I've read oh what people do free up with their diet everyone's doctor has said something different but the bottom line is to not work the liver too hard thus shrinking in size if rested and no fats to work on. I will be starting my diet tomorrow with two shakes and 2 cups of low starch low carb vegetables. Hope all goes well for you! Please let us know how you go post-op, would love to hear from you. Wishing you all the best. 🙏🙏🙏

    May 2022 surgery?

I'm scheduled for a gastric bypass and hiatal hernia repair on May 16th. I'm glad I joined this forum as it's given me so much insight and knowledge of what to expect and how to deal with it, it's such a releife to read other people's experiences. You know you're let alone! I dont believe any research can give you this much information that is 100% accurate then from the people who have actually experienced it. Good luck to all who are waiting for their surgery best wishes🙏🙏🙏
  15. Hi all! I just joined this a forum a cpl of days ago and so glad I did 😊I'm due for a gastric bypass and hiatus hernia repair on the 27th of April. Im on the 3 shakes a day and 2 cups of low starch vegetables diet atm. Currently 220lbs I've managed to lose 20lbs in 4 months prior to this liquid diet, Im glad I did as I have another 77lbs to go after the surgery, hope it is all worth the wait! I'm reading a lot of good advice and great information which I didn't know before I joined and I'm really enjoying sharing with others's ideas and experiences who are in simular situation as myself. Wishing everyone best of luck 👍🙏😊❤️
  16. Oh my 😕 4 days is very limited but chin-up and just pray that all goes well and there's no complications. My surgery is on the 16th of May, I too will be getting a hiatal hernia repair and gastric bypass, I've had my hernia for years. Can't wait to get it repaired finally! But I think you should be ok with 4 days of recovery as long as there's no other complications just make sure that you do light core exercises and lots of walking prior to surgery, that will speed up your recovery (as I heard from people who have had it) And good luck with your surgery hope all goes well for you Sparkly🙏👍

    Postponed coz of covid 😩

Very true Pollito, there really isn't anything we can do when this sort of thing happens, other then keep positive chin up and wait, did not let it get me down! İt's just given me more time to prepare i guess lol
  18. Was scheduled for the 27th April! Just had a call this morning from the hospital's surgical unit, apparently there are no beds in the hospital they're all occupied with covid patients, the next available date is May 16th and even THAT'S not guaranteed! I'm not stressing about ANOTHER the 3 weeks to wait, it's just my work situation we had to find someone to cover for me, now I've got 3 weeks or even longer to sit around and do nothing (loss of income) ☹️ and the liquid diet & preparations- all for nothing 😩😩

    May 2022 surgery?

Mine is rescheduled from 27th of April to May 2nd or the 16th due to covid patients taking over all the beds! I'm told that I could be called in either the 2nd or the 16th here I am waiting with my suitcase all set to go (sigh)

    Postponed coz of covid 😩

Yeah same here I was so enthusiastically waiting organised my job to be covered by someone else at the same time, so this gives me 3 weeks of no work but everything happens for a reason I guess, there's nothing I can do but wait, the bad part is the hospital staff said it could even be cancelled on the day of the rescheduled date, so anything can happen I remember my brother being ping-ponged and cancelled rescheduled 5 times before he had his kneecap surgery finalised and done!

    Post Op Stomach Injections

But what are those injections for didn't you ask your doctor? And after the surgery the hunger hormones are meant to be decreased if anything! maybe you should consult your doctor about how you feel and ask them what the injections are for just for your peace of mind. I'm due for a gastric bypass and a hiatal hernia repair on the 16th of May and now I'm curious about the injections[emoji53] Sent from my SM-N981B using BariatricPal mobile app
  23. Thank you so much for sharing this side of the bariatric scene as I was thinking with all this emotional rollercoaster some of us go through and the 'food funerals' I too was thinking, but in a couple of months we're all going to be able to eat most things but in moderation so it's not all that bad, I'm due for a gastric bypass and hiatal hernia repair on the 16th of May my dietitian has allowed me to have two cups of low starch low carb vegetables with my liquid diet but I still use my own judgement and eat a little bit of everything that's low fat low carb low starch no bread or pasta like a handful or a bite just so I don't hit that emotional low. Well all the best to everyone whose press op AND post op lots of hugs🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗

    Postponed coz of covid 😩

Well one would hope so in 2 and a half years with so many lives lost millions of people vaccines and trialled like guinea pigs😶

    Postponed coz of covid 😩

Well when I was down with covid, nobody told me what strain it was they just tell you that you are positive and thats it.. I had it pretty bad I was bedridden for 5 days with a fever I had no energy to get up at all and the coughing was so bad, my throat was damaged to the point where I had no voice left, my stomach muscles were cramped from so much pressure, I lost all sense of taste and smell I never thought I would be so down and out with a virus but luckily I survived it with my family support and not admitted to hospital. Thank God! I wonder if that was the Delta or Alpha strain because a lot of people were saying its more likely to be Delta but now you're saying Alpha is worse than Delta whatever it was I'm glad it's over and hope that this whole virus pandemic just ends so everyone can get on with their lives🙏🙏🙏
