For me it was my shorts. I put on my shorts with a belt and cinched em up. Walked outside with the wifey to take a walk and my shorts fell down to my ankles in front of the neighbors. LOL We are good friends so they knew I was on the weight loss journey and the neighbors wifey gave me a whistle with a chuckle LOL

This is why researching ANY physician is important. I work in the medical field in the US and believe me, we all have doctors that we wouldn’t see due to their surgical outcomes.

However, this video is fear-mongering at best. 3 out of tens of thousands; that complication rate isn’t out of the norm for any surgery regardless of location. The two men also had Lap-Band procedures which are no longer performed anywhere that I’m aware of due to the complications. People in the US had the same issues. The woman had a terrible surgeon.

So today is my weekly weigh in day, and I weigh 349!!! It's the first time in 2 years I have been below 350 (1st time was when I did Keto, but as soon as I hit 320 it literally came back up and I never lost a single pound after I went back to my original weight). I'm figuring out the food portions, timing, measurements and I think I have it down!!! You guys have all been so amazing with all the meltdowns, crazy questions, doubting myself, etc I've done on here (I know, I was a bit loco lol ). But I seem to be losing at a nice steady pace (5-7 pounds per week) and I have to say, I'm really liking it. I feel like this is much more sustainable and maintainable than when I was doing keto (and surprisingly, a lot less restrictive! ) I'm 7 weeks post op today and honestly, other than my scars on my tummy, I would never know I had surgery. No pain, no more limitations, no problems at all. I still have to be mindful of how much I eat and how often, because as I have said before, I never lost any of my hunger hormone. But I make homemade smoothies with fruit or I drink a Protein Shake if I need a little extra Protein, or I just keep busy until I can teach my stomach and body that I'm NOT hungry and I HAVE eaten enough and I will NOT be eating anymore because I had my allotted amount and that's it. It's harder when you're still hungry, but it CAN be done. Especially when I see the progress on the scale. So so glad I had this surgery. I don't regret it at all. Not even a tiny bit. I just wish I had done it sooner. But I guess we all do, don't we? lol

some people don't lose ANY weight the first week. A lot of us come home from the hospital up to 10 lbs heavier due to the all the IV fluids they pump into you.
that said, 5 lbs is pretty normal. Most WLS patients (at least normal ones - not the kind who are on "My 600 lb Life) lose in the 15-25 lb range the first month. So 5 lbs in week one is pretty normal.

I have to agree with @catwoman7. You should not obsess over every daily weight. This is a long process, and if you stress every day, you will do more harm than good. You are doing great.

my best advice is - STOP OBSESSING. You are doing fine! If it helps, stay off the scale..

I am in week 4 post-op. Looks like I'm getting anywhere between 400-850 calories per day. Struggling to get my Water in this week and, sometimes, my Protein if I'm not careful about tracking my progress throughout the day. I've resorted to using a timer every 15 min to cue me to drink and to stop/start 30 min before and after meals.

So i am a daily food tracker/body weigher through and through and probably won’t ever stop cuz I actually like doing it and i love to analyze data and trends (3.5+ years and still going)
BUT….time and repetition (and data analysis) has taught me what amounts of what types of food is enough to maintain my weight AND not get sick. Stomach restriction also helps, but i tend not to rely on that too much because its just not comfortable (physically). If I were to eat to restriction every time, it is often too late and i’d feel sick/yucky more often.
I just came back from vacation where I didn’t track nor weigh myself. I ate according to what I knew I could handle and came back the same weight as I left**. So I know I can do this without tracking. BUT I’ll continue to track anyway now that I’m back.
Im lucky in the sense that my restriction is the last line of defence for over eating, but like i said, I rarely rely on that and just eat what I know i can handle. Historical tracking and paying attention helped alot it learning this for ME. So for those whose restriction is not as effective, recognizing what your limits are and keeping that in mind always to the point of second nature is probably your best bet. In short: Intuitive Eating.
P.S. ** I was ridiculously constipated on vacay and after a long-awaited poop when I came back, i dropped almost 2.5 lbs, so i guess technically, i lost weight on vacation. Mind you, the fact that I didn’t like (nor eat) most of the food probably contributed to this.

Yep, I totally get it. I've been using Baritastic just because its what my surgeon recommended and its nice that you can pick and choose goals - I have a Protein goal but nothing else. Its definitely not as comprehensive as MFP, but for me its enough to get the job done. The hunger thing is hit or miss. I completely lost it the first 6 months and now I feel it somedays more than others, somedays not at all. I can't seem to find any rhyme or reason to it, but because its so unreliable, I still rely heavily on eating on a schedule, hitting my Fluid and protein, etc.
Maybe try moving more towards intuitive eating/not tracking for a month and compare your results? Take lots of notes - how do you feel, how is your hunger, how are you sleeping, any other symptoms or changes, and so on.... then reevaluate and go from there? It never hurts to try!
