    Givin' up the ice cream

Hey, So of course I have bad news...DAMN that Halloween candy! Damn that Wal-Mart Candy isle! Unfortunately I tossed a life saver to the Mini Mint Three Musketeers yesterday after I made them walk the plank about 3 weeks ago. I was trying to ignore there calls from the deep sea of my taste bud memories. But I saw that mint green package of eight Mini Mint Musketeers for .97 cents. Oh What A World! What A World!
  2. Now that sounds like a plan Slinderella! Luluc you're a genius!
  3. Well Missy, you look him straight in the eye and tell him, "You Better Give Me A Good Fill Damn It," If that dosen't work then were going to have to come up with a plan.
  4. Try doing what I did if you have someone that can go with you... try asking them to go to your next appt with you. Bring a note pad with you and document your visit. If you're from KCK. I do believe there are others that can perform fills. Like I said I'm from KCMO. Which you know is the twin city of KCK. I do believe there are doctors in both KS and MO that do fills.
  5. Hey it's Melolo from KCMO, I have the Realize Band as well. I'm frustrated as hell too ... Not to the point that I want to give up. Hell no... But to the point I want to give my nurse a knuckle sandwich. I have 4.5cc in my band. My second fill was last Thursday. I took my mother in with me so she could witness me telling him that I don't feel any restriction when he fills me and makes me swallow the Water. Also to witness him saying how many ccs I have in my band. So when I get to the point that I'm not going to take it anymore I have just cause to comfront him.:w00t: But please don't be scared to voice your concern because they were paid for this service and you as a patient should be happy or at least satisfied. I told the patient liason for the clinic where I had my surgery done how I felt and the fact that I thought I was pissing the nurse off (which I don't care) and she told me it didn't matter if he gets mad. It's all about me and my progress. She told me to keep speaking up for myself... That's what I'm telling you. KEEP SPEAKING UP FOR YOURSELF. Your doctor will get over it...so will my nurse.
  6. I don't know about lunchmeat but I do buy the deli meat from the deli counter. I also buy whole grain pita bread and I also purchase whole grain tortillas. I have not tried the lettuce wrap...but I think I will since I will be going to the deli counter at Wal-mart this evening. I love the fact that I can grab a couple slices of deli turkey or ham, some cheese, pita bread, and my bottle of mustard for lunch and head out the door. Being banded has become somewhat convenient.

    Since my surgery....

Good for you. I agree with you when it comes to telling people about the surgery. I made the mistake of telling one of my so call close friend at work and now I feel like she watches to see if I lose or not. And I agree when it comes to you making the band work. You can have the band and it not work if you don't make the right decisions when it comes to eating and exercise. Either you can eat chocolate, ice cream, and Cheetos and not exercise and defeat the purpose of the band...or you can eat the chicken breast, cottage cheese, yogurt and the list of health foods goes on and help this tool do what it suppose to do. But when it comes down to it we are in control. And I love to hear people say they are in control because they will succeed in winning the fight over obesity. So good for you.
  11. There you go...Great way of thinking. You will succeed because you just realize that it does take a lot of work and even patience when it comes to your Lap Band journey. I was frustrated at times as well. So keep your spirits up and keep going. You will be banded before you know it. We're here for ya!
  12. Once again I agree with you an 100% gentylwind :smile2: You go Noosagirl! GET YOUR SWAG ON! Serve that chicken salad and don't forget the Low-cal Mayo. Girl live your life!
  13. You know what I agree with you... It's funny we're somewhat saying the samething... but from different points of view. But you've made an excellent point.
  14. I agree with you as well. I feel we should be held accountable...But like I said who's to say that you will be the same person you were when you made those vows and it does say "through sickness and through health till death do us part" I believe things happen to us and sometimes it's out of our control... sometimes it's in our control. I believe when you take steps towards getting help that those people around us should be supportive. Just like a drug addict their loved ones give them support especially if that addict is trying to get help. What if something were to happen to him for example (impotence) should she degrade him make him feel like less of a person or a man. Well I'm sure he wasn't impotent when they said their vows. He can't fulfill her needs. Do she dog him in the ground. Call him a limp noodle. Or does she make him feel like the man she vowed to love and cherish. Does she help him and support him to become that man that she married. I don't know if that's a good example but I hope you know what I'm trying to say.
  15. Wow! That's deep in way that makes you think. I guess I can relate to what you've said... but I think I have a problem with the way the husband is communicating his feelings. To put his wife down and degrade her is not the answer and it hurts her. How do you think she feels. I know I didn't think in a million years that I would've blown up to 320 lbs. But I've had to fight an illness not once but twice. The treatment I receive to help fight this illness did a number on my health and body. As a result of the treatment my thyroid was affected. Somedays I was too weak to even move. And I still have those days. My point is... I bet nobody could feel worse about their weight then we do. Sure it does affect those around us. Yes, as a mom I do feel like I've cheated my son out of a lot things. Yes, I do feel very bad about it. Yes, I've cried sometimes because I wasn't able to give him a 100% of me somedays. Does that give anyone the right to put me down? NO! The husband should be a help not a hinderance. If she needs to change the way she eats...Then he should be in the kitchen with her cooking healthy meals. Leave sexy notes under her pillow or on the bathroom mirror for motivation. Chase her around the house or on the track for exercise. Everytime she does a sit up he should be there holding her feet and kissing her when she comes up. Why bring her down when he should lift her up. But I do see your point.
  16. WOW!:smile2: I know it had to hurt when he told you that he would have never married you at the size you are now. Wow! Did he say anything positive about you as a person? I don't usually speak against a marriage but I would think prayer and counseling would be needed if you want to save your marriage. Me...I tell people that I'm the same Melolo fat or thin. Not much will change accept my body, the way I treat my body, and my confidence will be a little higher. The reason why I say a little higher because at 320 I still tell people to step off if they come incorrect. What's so funny I still have men checking me out. Boy, my poor husband is really going to trip when I get down to my goal weight. I know if it was me it would be hard for me to stay with him. Because I would try to forgive but to forget would be the problem. Because I would think to myself...If he so quick to disown me because of weight...What if something more dramatic would happen. You have to understand women today face so many health issues that could happen and it be out of their control. Example... Like loosing a breast to cancer  I thought it saids "in sickness and in health. I hope you don't let his negativity affect you and your self image. Stay positive and reach your goal. Be healthy and happy. If it has to be without him...Oh Well!

    Since my surgery....

Hey Claudine, I'm happy to hear that you're doing well. Don't worry about the eight pounds they'll be gone before you know it. I too am a August All Star. My Band date was 8/4/08. I just had my second fill yesterday. Found out I gained 2 lbs. This was disappointing to me because since being banded I haven't lost much. But I will try harder and I will succeed. I too have a problem with chewing and eating when I don't think I'm hungry, But I try to eat my regular three meals so that I don't get so hungry that I eat too fast and too much. I hope I get the restriction I need with this fill. But I doubt it because I don't feel any different. And if I feel that the restriction is still not there ...me and the nurse are going to have it out.

    Husband Worried...

Wow! This is a hard one. I've been through 5 surgeries where I had to be under general anesthesia including 4 other surgeries using the twilight method thats a totals of 9 surgeries. I know my family were very concerned before, during and after surgery. I believe what helped my family is prayer. The sense of having each other there helped a lot too. And the way I acted before going into surgery. I always try to stay up beat even through I felt like a frightened little girl on the inside. But what helps me is prayer and my belief...That gets me through every time. Make sure he knows as much as you know about the surgery. What will happen before, during and after surgery. Make sure he knows about the post-op care and instructions. I don't know how many people you've told...But it's always nice for a friend or family to wait with your loved one... it sort of keeps their mind preoccupied. I hope this helps you in someway. SHOUT OUT TO MY FELLOW BREAST CANCER SUVIVORS! WE'RE IN THE PINK!:wink2:
  21. Hi, I feel you...We've all been there but be patient. You'll be able to eat a regular diet before you know it. I wasn't able to eat a regular diet until my 5th week. It was hard but it's worth following the instructions given to you by your surgeon. Think about that weight coming off. You know what's good inspiration and that looking through the Before and After Pictures Thread. Wow! What some of them have accomplished makes you want to cry for joy because a year or so from now hopefully we can post our Before and After Pictures. Go ahead and take a look at some of them and let them inspire you. I'm sending good vibes towards your way.
