  1. Lots of us for Oct. 29. The closer it gets the more nervous I am also. But I have waited a long time for this, so no way am I going to change my mind at the last minute. I am leaving tomorrow morning to go to my sons house in Sacramento because I have two preop appts. 2 1/2 hour drive each way. I'm not sure yet if I'm coming home after surgery or staying down there an extra day. My choice would to be come home. Lets all post as soon as we can to check up and see how everyone did.

  2. Ahhhhhhhh. I can breathe through my nose today! Yippee! LOL Thank God. I was beginning to wonder if I was gonna turn the corner. I still think someone needs to figure out how the human body can fit so much "stuff" in the human head that even when you have coughed and blown your nose a hundred-thousand times there is still more stuff in there.....?

Counting today, THREE more days of pre-op diet then ONE day of full liquids with nothing past midnight! Then SURGERY!!!!

    Yea Us!

Cindy, Glad to here you are feeling better. I was going to play cards last nite with my daughter and her husband, but she had a little bit of a sore throat, so I stayed away. I don't want to get sick and not have my surgery on the 29th. Hope you feel better everyday. Maggie:shades_smile:

  3. Maggie, Thank You. No I'm not at goal yet. I had a huge amount to lose. I'm looking at probably another 75 pounds and than I should be there. I know I have come along ways and I am so thankful for my Band. I'm very glad that I decided to have it instead of the RNY. That was not a good choice for me.

I'm here to answer any questions you guys have, so feel free to ask me anything.

Oh ya, How many fills have you had? Maggie:shades_smile:

Suziecat, I will be taking you up on your offer. You probaby look like a totally different person. Was your first few weeks after being banded very hard. I will be babysitting my 4 month old grandson and just wonder how long after surgery that will be posible. Maggie:shades_smile:

  5. Altoonasoup, Welcome to the Oct. 29ners. It is the first day of the rest of our lifes. I don't believe I just said that, but it is true. My surgeon only requires two days of Clear Liquids before surgery. At first I thought it was just one and was happy about that. I have been real strict since I found out my date and have lost 7lbs. Next Thursday I hope we will all be on here comparing notes. Maggie:shades_smile:

  6. Lori, your strips and blood are normal. Just don't pick at them like I did. Your Doc will take care of them. As far as the gas, get yourself some Gas-X strips. They help out alot. And the walking also helps. Lifesavers or any hard candy should keep your mouth moist and your tummy pangs under control. Good Luck to you.

I just had my second Bandiversary last week and I am down 170 pounds. If I can do it you guys should have no problems. Hang in there and just follow the rules and don't beat yourselves up.

Suziecat, A BIG congratulations on the 170lbs. You sure have motivated me. Are you at goal yet? Again congratulations. Maggie

  7. You can go to military facility while using remote- so long as you're willing to make the trip. When my husband was in Iraq in '02, I lived with my parents and had remote. Instead of using remote, I would just schedule my stuff at the Air Force base about an hour and a half away on my mom's off day and we would drive over, do my stuff, then go do other stuff.

Tomatogirl It just hit me that your surgery date is Oct. 29th. also. Are you going home the same day. We will compare notes later next week.

  8. That sounds more like it, 10%. It should'nt be to much and I'm sure you will be billed for it. And if need be they would probably set up a payment plan for you. I am not wearing a bra home, just a baggy shirt. I have a 2 1/2 hour each way trip to Sacramento for the surgery. I am leaving here early Tuesday morning and staying at my sons house down there. I don't know yet if we will be driving home after the surgery or spending another nite there. Depends on how I feel. I have a preop appt. Tuesday so that is why I am going a day early. I look forward to us all comparing notes afterwards. It is going to be great to compare how we feel and help each other thru each step. Here's to all Oct. 29ners.;) :thumbup:Maggie:shades_smile:

  9. wvgal, What insurance company are you with.? Wow, they only pay 10% on your surgery. From what I have been told the surgery is anywhere between $10,000. and 15,000.00. And of course the longer you are in the hospital the more it will cost. You should call the ins. company and demand answers. Are you having your surgery in Huntington or Charleston? Good luck and let me know what you find out. Maggie:shades_smile:

  10. I just found this thread tonight... I'm scheduled for the 29th at 8:45 am in California. I'm on the super-fast track and my head is still spinning! I'm very excited and a little nervous. I found out about the BAND3035 study (for those with BMI's between 30 and 35) about a month ago (my BMI is 34.7 - I'm 5'5", 208 lbs.), I attended the "open house" info seminar on Oct. 13, met with a bariatrician who did both my PCP and Dietician evaluations on Oct. 16 (stopped by the lab on my way for the blood work-up), had the upper GI and chest x-ray on Oct. 17, and had my psych evaluation on Oct. 20. So, basically, I managed to get all my paperwork, tests and evaluations done in just 2 weeks from the info seminar and 3 weeks from my initial inquiry about the strudy! I'm self-pay (because insurance won't pay for study participants and I don't have any co-morbitities to qualify otherwise) but at least the cost is at a slight discount. I knew very little about the lap band before a month ago, and now I'm getting one of my very own in just a week from now! I have group and pre-op tomorrow and I wonder if I will be put on a pre-op diet... and for how long. I'm hoping that if I have to do a liquid diet that it is only for 2-3 days before surgery because my cousin is coming to town tomorrow afternoon and she'll want to go out to eat! What kind of pre-op diet is everyone else being put on? Does anyone else have a lower BMI? I still need to lose 78 lbs. I wonder how long that will take? Oooh... I'm getting more excited!

Grateful1, My surgery was changed today for Oct. 29, also. I am having it at Sutter Hospital in Sacramento, Which Hospital are you having yours? Who is your doctor? Mine is Dr. Patching on Howe Ave.?

WvaGal, small world, I was born & raised in WV. Where do you live in that beautiful state. Lots of us on Oct. 29.

  11. JWRN, Wow, I'm excited, and yes a little nervousness has creeped in. You are doing great after your rough start. Mine should be an outpatient surgery. I am leaving for my sons house early Tuesday morning because I have a preop appt. with the surgeon that day. Don't know if I will coming home Wed. or Thursday. It is a 2 1/2 hour trip each way. My daughter is driving me. Do you think I could make the trip home after the surgery? I was thinking that I will still be under the influence of drugs from the surgery and it might be better than the day after. Everybody let me know your opinions. Maggie:shades_smile:

  12. You sound like you are really adjusting well to bandlife. You are brave if you took the pump out yourself. I couldn't do it, to big of a chicken. I don't mind shots and such if I don't look. Keep up the good work, walk, walk, walk.

Karina, any news yet. If you need Mrs. Frasiers direct number, let me know. You are going to be successful one way or the other. Maggies:shades_smile:

  13. Penny, Any regrets yet? That may be a silly question to ask, but since mine is so close and I have heard so many people say the first week they have buyers remorse. Where exactly is your port located and can you feel it. I know each doctor puts them in different places. Feeling hungry I know is going to be a hard thing to deal with, but having the band will surely encorage us to eat right. We don't want to do damage to it or us. Did you make your first appt. for a fill yet? Hope you feel better each day. Maggie:shades_smile:

  14. Wow Karina, they have you going around in circles. It looks like yours is going to the top for approval/denial. You have the 100lbs. to lose how about the one health issue? whey you called Travis, did you talk to A Mrs. Frazier. She is the go-between for bariatric patients and the surgeons. I'm sure she would be very helpful to you. Well keep on trying you will get it sooner or later. Maggies:shades_smile:
