  1. azairforcewife, Congratulations on your approval. It took an appeal for me to be approved also. I am happy with the way I am losing. It is slow, but going down.

Munger, Keep trying and you will be approved. It is hard to believe they are taking so long. My surgeon actually talked to Tricare and submitted the appeal with the sleep study included, which wasn't in there the first time. Has your surgeon talked to Tricare??? Good luck and keep trying.

    Maggie :)

  2. Anxiously awaiting my pre-op testing on Dec. 12. I will get my "lovely" pre-surgery liquid diet plan then.

My friend's have talked my into getting a bikini wax so I can "prepare" for my catheter. Does the torture ever end??:rolleyes2:

Noticing some "friction" and "bad vibes" from a co-worker who was denied for the surgery. She previously had jaws wired shut, joined Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, and had her stomach stapled and is STILL non-compliant. I've just learned to "shake my haters off" and go on with my life.:cursing:

I didn't have a catherter. It is such a short surgery, you probably won't have one. But then again every surgeon is different. Good luck to you all. Maggies:shades_smile:

  3. harliquinn, Are you being seen at Travis? That is where I started my long journey to bandland. They have a group class that you must attend. I wanted to have the lapband and they don't do it at Travis, (at least didn't when I started). I had most of my tests done at Travis, and then got a referral to a surgeon in Sacramento.. All in all it took over a year, from my first referral to Travis to actually being banded. I'm sure you can get it done faster than that, because when I first saw the surgeons at Travis one of them was pregnant and about to have her baby so every thing went slow. Good luck and let me know how it goes.

  4. Hi Valerie, Have you been denied by Tricare Already or are you just starting the process. I was denied by Tricare the first time and then we resubmitted the paperwork to include my sleep apnea test and I was approved in 2 weeks. There is another girl on this thread that was denied and appealed and Tricare took several months and ultimately she was denied. Let us know how it is going for you. Maggies:shades_smile:

  5. I was denied the first time and my surgeon talked to the ins. company and found out that my sleep study was not included in the original packet. So they resubmitted it to ins. with the sleep study and i was approved. I have sleep apnea and was over 100lbs overweight. So there is always hope. It could be just a simple oversight. Good luck.

  6. I just had my surgery on the 29th of Oct., and I feel great. You should start feeling better each day. I had no problems drinking anything, I just made sure it was 1/4 a cup to begin with. As for the incisions, same with them, each day they will feel better. The pain that lasted the longest was where they put the port but within a couple weeks it was gone. I did have a problem with diarrea for a while, but I guess that beats being constipated. Good luck and just believe this was a good decision for you and it will be. Maggies:shades_smile:

  7. I was banded on Oct. 29th and I feel great now. The only way I know I have the band is when I eat a little to much and I feel extremly full. And by to much I mean l little over a 1/2 a cup. I hope it stays this way, because I don't feel like I need a fill at this point. I am losing at a slow pace which I expected with my age. But that is OK, at least it is going in the right direction. So good luck to you and take each pound you lose and be grateful, at least its not a gain.

Hi all...I am Rita I am a married 33 year old mother of 3 with a full time job and kids with FULL-TIME energy...problem is that I just cannot seem to keep up with them at my current weight. I currently weigh 329 lbs and CANNOT wait to see that number go DOWN. I have been approved by my insurance company for banding (YEAH) and I have completed all my pre-op testing (blood work, EKG, chest X-ray, psychological testing). I am waiting for my pre-opertive nutrition appointment where I will receive the long awaited date for surgery!!!!! I am sooooo excited for this new beginning, yet kinda scared. I have been watching a ton of Youtube journals of other peoples success and have gained great inspiration and advice from them. I am FINALLY ready to do this for ME...not my husband or kids or anyone else but ME>>>>>> I intend on documenting EVERY STEP of my process to a new me one pound at a time. :cool2:

Congratulations on your decision. It was a hard one for me also, but a good one. I was banded a little over three weeks ago and have no regrets. The weightloss is slow but going in the right direction. I'm a lot older than you so I kinds expected it to be slow. I wish I could have had it done when my kids were little but of course they didn't have it then. Good luck and keep us posted. Maggies

  9. Hi Altoonasoup, I also had a lot less pain than what I expected, which made the recovery much better. I don't know when I will be getting my first fill. I'm not sure if I need one because I feel full on very little food and I do not want to start throwing up. I go see the surgeon again on Dec. 5th, so I will see what he says about it. Happy Thanksgiving to you. Maggies:shades_smile:

  10. Hi Maggies, I just got refered on Friday so the program hasen't even called me to let me know yet so I didn't even know about the meetings yet. I will be calling them on Monday to try and get everything rolling :rolleyes2: So excited, I am new to the area too so hoping I can meet some new friends at the meetings :tongue2: Actually I am in Lake California just outside of cottonwood. I started to excersice a few months ago, and I also joined our local roller derby team...go beavers...LOL

Sounds like you are already into excersing a lot, which is a great start. Let us know when you get approved for surgery. Maggies:shades_smile:
