Wondering when you could drive comfortably after surgery.

My surgeon says I can make the 2 hour drive for my one week follow up.

    That seems fast :(

It really depends on you. I was able to drive 2 weeks out.
I take a pillow to allow pressure under the seat belt that helps me . It’s supposed to be if you can bend your legs to your stomach with minimal discomfort

Hi all I’m 16 days post op and down 15lbs which I’m ok with. I lost a stone pre op in the two week liver shrink diet as well so 29lbs altogether.

The only day I haven’t lost was yesterday when I went on a short gentle hike but also struggled to get all my fluids in.

I’ve ordered some Protein shots as I hate the Protein Shakes. I’ve also got some unflavoured Protein Powder now as well and that’s ok but the flavoured ones are too sweet for me, I’ve never been a sweet tooth even before the op.

im also going to only get weighed on a Monday from now on as daily is too tense for me!

I had Protein Shakes the ensure max Protein works for it it isn’t really sweet or thick at all The chocolate and strawberry taste like Nesquik. With those I’m able to take them down quick . 30g of protein

Congrats! You are almost at onederland. I was 241.5 surgery date. Didn’t lose anything before surgery (Dec 17th) which was annoying since I wasn’t eating and I was walking 10,000 steps a day minimum. 7 days out of surgery I was down to 228 (13.5 lb loss) and then stagnated at 228 for about the next 2 weeks. Pretty sure pms and my menstrual cycle prevented me from losing more weight. I stopped obsessing over the scale because I was feeling like I wasn’t losing after the first initial loss so now I will only weigh in this coming Friday and every Friday thereafter, however I do feel the difference in my close. I can’t wait to be out of the 200’s. It hasn’t even been 3 weeks out of surgery but I want to be “skinny” already lol, but I also don’t want the extra loose skin so I need to remind myself to be patient and be positive that I am on my way to a healthier life. Also I can’t remember the last time I lost 13.5 lbs so fast so I need to see that as a win! You are on your way as well. Happy for you and that you are feeling better now and seeing results!

    I know
This exact feeling but it’s true if you loose to much weight to fast you will have more loose skin.
I have been at the same weight a few days but I checked my measurements and I lost inches so that alone was amazing. My a1c dropped which was exciting so remember the scale isn’t everything . Just keep doing what they said you’ll get there

Hey there. I just had mine on Dec. 20th. I just had a post op appointment with my doctor. I have lost 10ths since my pre-op visit with him. I am excited. I have been doing Protein Shakes in morning and evening then Protein Water throughout the day along with regular Water just sips. My goal with the water is to drink 32 ounces. It is hard. I eat sugar free Jello as well and broth but this liquid diet is starting to weigh on me and I am starting to want other things. I have one more week of liquid then on 01/05 I can start purée and the Vitamins.

It’s hard but hang in there . If you rush something sooner than your stomach is ready you can get dumping syndrome.

I have been taking the Unjury chicken broth Protein Powder. You mix it up in warm (not hot) Water and drink it. It has 21 grams of Protein in 8 ounces. 90 calories so it is really not bad to get the Protein in. I got so sick of sweet Protein Shakes that I needed a change. If you need the full 30 grams of protein like a premeir Protein Shake, use a scoop and a half in 12 ounces...still much easier to get down than a protein shake and the calories are the same.

Thank you so much I’m going to try this

Premade Protein Shakes or Protein waters are great in the early days. For foods, I ate a lot of refried Beans, hummus, thick Soups, etc. and would just add unflavored Protein Powder (Isopure) to everything. Once you progress to solid foods, it gets easier to get more Protein in without supplementing.

I need to get my hands on the non flavored protein because taking it down has been my biggest challenge the taste is to much for me .

    Hi

I had my sleeve on the 20th Dec. I feel great and am two stone down already, including pre op diet. I am managing all Fluid requirements and Protein but hate the sweetness of the Protein Shakes so have now got some unflavoured to add to home made ones.

I am nervous to eat , not because I can’t, have had some puréed apple with no probs but so desperate to lose all my weight. I know I will need to eat to help with the weight loss and I will get my head round it but I’m in the uk and have paid for this op. Hubby was against it but as he’s a decent chap he is being ok but this has to work for me!

In the plus side I already feel better carrying less weight and am so excited to get my health and fitness back.

I feel that way with the Protein. Have you tied the ensure max protein? It’s not really sweet or thick these have saved my life I could do premiers it was thick and sweet and made it hard to take down

Hello everyone, I had surgery on12/09/2021, I was wondering if anyone broke out in hives 3 weeks after surgery, I did and now I am on steroids to suppress it. Please let me know if anyone broke out in hives, I have it all over my body even in my head. Wishing everyone good luck . Thank you

This happened to me but just on my face but it was caused by over stressing my body and when I got anxiety it went away on it’s own. I heard it’s not uncommon. Hope it gets better

Yes!! I finally gave up trying to track. It was stressing me out way too much! I’ve also had diarrhea since day 10 :( I’m trying to focus on how I feel and listening to my body. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Oh no , I’m sorry you’re having such a hard time. I try to do my Protein in the morning and another for lunch and with ice the colder the better . I keep 4 Water bottles 16oz on my bed side so I know to drink those for the day. As far as diarrhea did you notify the doctor about it because they should of quested a stool sample to make sure there’s no bacteria.
