Yaayy!!! Congratulations Juniper. I had the same surgery March 21 but not $0 out of pocket. Hospital bill paid by insurance except for $350 copay, another $350 or so for the anesthesiologist and another about $300 for doctor. Still, not too bad. I'm down 50 lb since starting the liquid diet on March 7. I hope yours goes even better than mine did!

Woohoo! I have insurance approval and a surgery date of July 6! Lapband coming out, fixing a hernia, and getting revised to a gastric bypass. Should be $0 out of pocket.
I've been working toward this since November. So relieved, excited, and ready.

I finally did it! Back on 19 May 2022 I had my revision surgery from Lapband to RNY Gastric Bypass. So as of today (23 May 2022) it's my 4th day Post Op. Fortunately for me personally I have been able to sip Water and other free liquids (soups) etc without any nausea or vomiting. I just have to work toward, to eventually get all the daily Protein and fliuds into my body per day - aim to have each meal "pack a punch" nutritionally. I'm definitely adding my Tasteless Protein & Tasteless Fibre into my liquids, as I certainly do not want to experience any Constipation. I know what that's like, from past experience many years ago. I'm not going to bother about jumping on any scales at least for a couple of weeks as I am bloated with all the swelling etc. I'm just focusing on "getting healthier" as my no.1 priority and let everything else fall in place (the "added bonus" as I call it). I was on a 2 week pre-op diet, lost about 4 kilograms (approximately 8.8 pounds).
Here's to the beginning of my NEW LIFE (and I turned 50 years old the day I was discharged from Hospital) . A Gift to myself, to have a healthier version of myself in my later years to come !!!

I'll give you an example of my meal going on 5 months. 2 ounces pork, 1 ounce brown rice. I could not nor did I want any more food for the next 4 hours. It feels like stomach restriction to me versus throat tightness of the lapband. If I don't chew well enough or eat too fast or too much, I do feel sick or I get the foamies. I have never dumped so I can't speak to that experience. But the foamies is very very similar to the lapband pressure but it lasts for hours on end instead of once and you are relieved. That is my personal experience.
  10. Thanks

actually, most of us don't dump. About 30% do. It CAN involve vomiting, but it more commonly involves chills, sweating, racing heart, and diarrhea. It can be controlled by limiting your intake of sugar (or for some people, fat)
you will definitely feel less restriction from bypass than you do with lapband, from everything I've read. But you'll still feel it. Your "full" cues might be different as well. I feel kind of a pressure in my chest, and that means that if I don't quit eating, I'm going to be sorry. Others' have cues such as sneezing, hiccupping, or a runny nose (although cues like pressure are more common).
I rarely vomit any more - but yes - I will if I ignore my "full" signal and keep shoveling in the food. That's what (usually) keeps me from pushing the envelope.
