The first photo was taken on September 29, 2021. The second photo was taken on December 7, 2021 about 5 months post op with a 20lb weight loss. I can’t believe I’m down 2 pant sizes already. Apparently my doctor prescribing a binder he didn’t know it has a dual purpose. One it’s for medical reasons and two it’s better then using a belt to hold your pants up.

    Hi

i had my surgery at about 11:45 and was back in the ward at 3. Have had to sit up all afternoon to help with the wind. I’m hoping to get in to bed in a bit just for a change of scenery! The pain it bearable but uncomfortable and I have dry heaved a few times but finger crossed no sick yet.

I managed a glass of Water so far but I am on a drip and and antibiotics so not pushing it. I have been on 3 walks up and down that corridor and am managing to pee ok.

keeping fingers crossed for an ok night

Hi I know I’m a newbie as for as the gastric sleeve surgery. I know journaling what I eat I was able to keep track of my eating habits. That I was able to figure out the good foods and the bad food I was eating. Also I added was why was I eating. Was it due to boredom, was I really hungry, was due to emotional needs, etc. So keeping track of that helped. Using a food journal will get you back on tract and may tell you why your eating. Try to motivate yourself in taking short walks a couple times a day. Also ask your PCP for a referral to setup an appointment with a nutritionist? Finally, I would continue getting support from this group. It’s important to get as much support and encouragement as you can especially when this time of year is most difficult. Hang in there my friend. We stand behind you every step of the way.

Keep plugging away on your liquid diet. It’s very important now that your this close to your surgery date. You can do this. You’re already expecting that a situation will be bad because you’re allowing it to happen due to a require liquid diet. If I were you, I’d sit with everyone else to enjoy the festivities. While they eat their dinner, you can have a nice hot bowl of chicken broth and your Water. Be proud of yourself because you will be a healthy new person!

I'm noticing the same thing. food that I once loved the smell of it just makes me want to hurl. I tried a sip of coffee the other day, I'm talking like 1/4 of teaspoon and thought I was going to die. My taste buds are so off.
I remember getting into my room from recovery and had a couple of blister's and canker like sores in my mouth. I'm almost 4 weeks (11/29) and most are gone but I have one that is sticking around and think I better go to dentist. Annoying.

I guess I am still on the 3 week stall that everyone talks about lol
I haven't lost much on my full Fluid phase and I have 5 more days on it. Have lost about 2 pounds only last 16 days.

I can only get 48oz. Remember if you have liquids in any of your 3 meals and any Snacks they can be counted into your Water allowance.

I’m sorry you & your partner are having difficulties getting the necessities needed to meet your needs. I was wondering if going to the food bank will help you out. Someone stated that Soups, broths are inexpensive. I thought maybe instead of Protein bottled drinks that you can search online for powdered to mix with Water or skim milk. The powder protein could be less expensive. Finally if possible is there any chance you can ask family or any close friends to help you & your partner with some food purchases to get you both through this rough patch? It’s just a thought. I wish you both the very best and I hope both of you can try to enjoy the Holidays!

I'm nervous my surgery is scheduled for Dec. 29th. Right now I am in the pre-op full liquid diet and I'm having trouble maintaining momentum with it. I am worried that Christmas won't be the same with me not being able to eat at the table. I know this is all in my head but would like to know what you all have done when it's difficult to follow through because of outside influences.

Things I try to remind myself:
    1. This is what i want
    2. This is my journey OWN IT!
    3. I can do this!

I've been having a pretty rough recovery, it started out fine but then it kind of came crashing down. Today I've been doing kind of better, I haven't been able to meet Protein goals yet because I've been searching for protein shakes/powders my body would tolerate. I think I may have found one but I've also been dealing with nausea, my body had one of it's extreme well, I'll say "episodes" by which case I went to the E.R. to get checked up to make sure I don't actually pass out since I can't keep up with the losses this time around. I'm taking flintstones Multivitamins even though they are insufficient my nutritionist said if I can double up on them that'd be great. Something is better than nothing I suppose, I believe my body is just one of the ones that recovers slower so I've been taking it one day at a time. I haven't even bothered with getting a scale or weighing myself, I'm happy with getting weighed at appointments. My sheer focus is just on getting my body on the actual path to recovering well at this point.

Have you gotten a date for your surgery yet. You didn’t mention that. The other issue did you do any research before going forward with this surgeon? I know this is hind sight but maybe before you make a final decision do a quick research and see what the reviews are like. It can’t hurt to check.

First have you been given a surgery date? Second is this the bariatric surgeon your PCP recommended to you? Third have you looked into your insurance plan to see if any other bariatric surgeons are covered within your plan? Finally I honestly wouldn’t commit to this bariatric surgeon especially when you have not met your surgeon as of yet. I hope you keep us posted of your decision. I wish you the best.
