I had mine the 15th. Struggling really hard on my post op liquid diet. I feel great and feel like I can eat whatever I want but I know I can't. I got a bypass and the post op diet is STRICT. how are yall doing post op? Any tips?

Hi! I got mines on the 10th but mines was the sleeve. I certainly cannot eat anything other than puddings, applesauce and liquids. The Protein Shakes are difficult so I’m taking liquid vitamins and Protein. I must admit, I tried eating something I wasn’t supposed to eat and I was sick as a dog so I won’t push it and Im sticking to the plan. As of to date, I am 16.8lbs down and I’m feeling great. Best wishes to you☺️

Thank you. Im so scared . I feel alone. I know it’s not an easy journey and I’m ready but I’m just having second thoughts because all my family is saying not to do it 😕

I went through that. It was divided. Some supported my decision and others opposed it but I did it and I have no regrets. Do what you feel you need to do. Remember that this is your body and you Are doing this to live, right? Mines was a little complexed than yours because I traveled to Mexico. My insurance wouldn’t cover it so I did what I needed to do. My surgeon and medical team were great, I met a lot of wonderful people from all over and I’m happy that I made the choice to go.

Tiny, tiny sips of everything. Pause between. If something isn't agreeable yet, back off and return to the prior step, then try again in a few days.

I find Water is more palatable if I add flavoring, such as sachets of sugar-free Crush, Hawaiian Punch, Wylers, Snapple, etc. You can use an electrolyte drink like Gatorade Zero or Propel instead of Water. Again, stick to tiny sips until you can comfortably take bigger sips. Do the best you can and keep trying. If you can get at least 32 oz, you can build on that. If getting less, talk to your dietitian or surgeon's office.

Thank you for that feedback. I think we subconsciously take bigger sips than we can tolerate right now. I actually love water and since surgery, I crave it.

So I’m starting to feel a little better. I had to get some fluids infused yesterday bc I couldn’t drink bc of how much pain it was causing me. They also noticed my sugar was really low so they made me consume sugar. Been feeling ok since though. Besides when I sneeze or cough or move lol.

im definitely going to get some of those Protein shots. I’ve also been wondering if I should do liquid vitamins bc they chewable ones from Celebrate always make it to where my stomach feels too full. Even with me taking 10-15 minutes to consume one Vitamin.

I have some some chewable bariatric Vitamins as well but I don’t feel like I’m taking in enough nutrients to take vitamins and I’m afraid they will make me nauseous😔.
I have these sneeze attacks often and because I’m still sore, it drives me nuts! 🤦🏾‍♀️🤣

My saying is, the choice was easy but the process is hard. We are food addicts that are experiencing some real life changes within our bodies and all we can do is embrace it and prepare for greatness. ☺️

I am right with you guys. Had mine Dec 9th. One incision site pulls and is itchy, but other than that, I really have had a smooth recovery so far. Protein is coming from shakes. I’m hitting Protein goals, but not fluid goals. Are you having cravings? I’m not physically hungry but I WANT food. Realizing how much of an addict I really am.

I have cravings but I’m not hungry either. I think they call this head hunger. I’ve been getting my Water intake but the Protein Shakes are too heavy for me right now. I’m starting protein liquid supplements which contain nearly 20g of protein per serving until I’m ready to take on a full shake because at this time, they fill me up, cause pain and make me Ill. Hey, no one ever said this process would be easy, right? ☺️🤷🏾‍♀️

I just had mines on the December 14th. Struggling to get Protein in.

Yeah, we ain’t ready 🤦🏾‍♀️🤣. Try Protein Shots. There on Amazon. You can get your required dosage without making yourself sick trying to get those shakes down. How are you feeling? My experience has been interesting. I Started with lots of pain but each day gets better. ❤️☺️

I had my surgery done dec 8th & im currently on stage 3 pureed foods.

I had mines in the 10th. Each day gets better but I’m struggling to finish my Protein Drinks. I got a few sips in and my stomach began to feel like an alien was crawling out of it. Needless to say, I threw up the shake 😏. I’ve been trying to incorporate yogurt but I start to get those pains and I stop. I’m going to stick to broth, Water and small amounts of Protein Shake but I just ordered a Protein supplement where each shot is 18g of protein. I may be doing this until I can tolerate a shake. Good luck and I’m happy to know your tolerating stage 3 purées. That’s a big accomplishment!! ☺️

Same as yours. How you feeling Angelina? Today was the best day so far. Thicker liquids going down better. Still get full after just a few sips. Not much pain except for hiccups. sleep is non existent and stitches are itchy. I haven’t taken off the little bandaids they put in them. Every day is a little better

Hi! I’m doing well. I can say that each day gets better. My sleep is so so but that’s improving also. I’m itchy too but I’m sure that’s a good thing. I’m struggling to finish anything I start eating and I’m sick to death of broth. It’s so difficult to get liquids down without pain or discomfort. Maybe I should take smaller sips 🤷🏾‍♀️🤣

Hello, I'm new here. My VSG surgery is scheduled for January 12 and I'm starting to get cold feet. I have no one supporting this decision and they keep trying to discourage me. I guess my question is, after 4 weeks or so of recovery, do you feel like this surgery was a good decision? I also have a cruise scheduled at exactly my 6 week post op mark and idk how the recovery is at that stage. Helllllllp!

I just had VSG surgery on 12/10. I was so nervous the weeks leading up to my surgery. I had anxiety and trouble sleeping but you know what? I did it and I’d do it again. The decision was easy but the process is difficult. You just have to get through it. Remember why you decided to do this. Remember how good you are going to feel afterwards. Today makes a week. I’m home, moving around and tolerating liquids and some applesauce. It’s hard to predict how you will feel 6 weeks post op but imo, you get stronger everyday. Your body is going to go through a lot of changes after a surgery like this. I’m still early in mines, I’m sore, not as strong as I was but also had 85% of my stomach removed. I wish you all the best and know that any choice you make you YOUR choice. Take care 💜

Hi all! I'm 23 and got my sleeve 1 week ago (on 12/7). I've been keeping up with my Vitamins and trying my best to meet my Fluid intake (I drink Water, electrolyte Water and eat SF popsicles for meals), but I'm having trouble with Protein supplements.

When I was pre-op, I bought Isopure Protein Drinks (premade) and they tasted pretty good, but now post-op I can't stand the taste or after taste of them (same flavors as pre-op). This is causing me to not meet my Protein goals at all, which is terrible and my body is definitely reacting to it (lots of aches and pains). I'm trying to stay away from the milky shakes since my stomach doesn't handle lactose well in high quantities, but if there's one that doesn't taste terrible or have a bad aftertaste then I'm willing to try it.

Any advice to get to my goals? I was already a picky eater before the sleeve and now it's gonna be my downfall if I don't find something I like soon 🥲

Hey, I’m post sleeve also. I had mines on the 10th. Everyday gets better. I’ve been so thirsty but my sleeve won’t allow me to consume large quantities of anything. I’ve going back and forth with the same protein water and shakes throughout the day. They do have a couple of broths that have a lot of protein and that may be easier to consume. Good luck. I’m pretty sore but each day gets better. Take care and best wishes to you and your protein consumption. ☺️

Ugh, so sorry this is happening. My sleeve surgery got cancelled back in March 2020, but I was able to get it in July 2020. If I hadn’t had potential heart issues, I would have gone to Mexico for the surgery. There are several fine bariatric centers over the border.

So glad to hear you say this. I’m scheduled for surgery on Mexico on December 10th and I’m nervous.

There's your red flag right there! Yikes.

There's often a subtext to people who try to talk you out of WLS, and she showed hers with that question. Stay the course! Ignore the nay-sayers. You're doing this for your health and quality of life, and if you're confident with your surgical team, no-one else needs to add their two-cents into it!

Yes. She did. They felt this was a “cosmetic thing” and it’s certainly not. I’m overweight and I’m sick of it and anyone who’s been overweight knows the physical and mental toll it takes on the body. I haven’t changed my mind. I was just a little down by the responses I was getting and then I have to remember that I made the choice to share my life changing decisions with those around me. Biiiiiig mistake🤦🏾‍♀️😏
