  1. I'm a few days post op and feeling okay overall. I've started with the liquid phase and currently I'm making banana smoothies with added protein that I drink throughout the day. I drink water in the morning, wait 10 minutes and then I sit down and slowly get one glas of smoothie down in 30 minutes. It's maybe 200ml or 2dl. Is that too much in one sitting this early on? I don't feel nausea or too full, but I do have some pain in my stomach most of the time, but that's pretty normal this soon after surgery? Should I just see how it goes further down or does anyone feel like this is absolutely too much and that I should take longer? Sent from my KB2003 using BariatricPal mobile app
  2. Everything has gone by so fast. I had my gastric bypass on Monday 11/29. I'm Finnish so I did my surgery in Finland. Everything went well and the nurses were amazing, the whole experience was loving and calm. I feel extremely grateful for that. On Tuesday I could go home after getting in my 1000 ml of liquids. I never felt nausea, pain or discomfort why drinking and I tried to walk as much as I could. Gas pain was very difficult Wednesday and Tuesday. It's slowly leaving now, Friday. I've taken pain meds every evening and sometimes during the day if I get pain, but I'm trying to manage with the little pain I have. I'm excited for what's to come, it feels like a huge life changing moment, which it of course is. I'm scared and anxious as well; what if I never can eat a piece of sushi again, my absolute favourite food? What if I can't travel and enjoy the food? Food is such a big part of our lives and has so much to do with our social life and culture. I know it's worth it, I know this surgery is for me and for my future, for my health. But it's still scary. That's why I love going on here and reading everything. It gives me so much comfort to know there's so many people all over the world going through a similar experience. I'm gonna start weighing myself after two weeks after surgery, giving myself time to heal and rest for now. Here are some stats that I can look back on in the future. HW: 308 lb (140 kg) Operation weight: 291 lb (132kg) GW: in-between 130-150 lb Sent from my KB2003 using BariatricPal mobile app
  3. I had surgery this Monday 11/29. The gas pain has slowly dissolved, but this stinging pain in my said sometimes get unbearable. Mostly it's not there but sometimes it just hits me. Is this normal or is this a consequence of me eating too much? I'm so scared of eating too much and stretching my tummy, but this pain doesn't seem to always come in the same timespan as when I eat. I drank 300 ml soup today, it took about 15 minutes. It didn't hurt, I didn't feel naseous or anything. But now, 1,5 hour later this pain comes. It comes a few times a day, randomly. How do you guys know when you've eaten too much? Is there any clear indicater for that? Sent from my KB2003 using BariatricPal mobile app
  4. Thank you so much! Okay, so it's more important to be super slow when introducing solid foods? I have some pain in my incisions and some in my stomach but that doesn't corelate with eating, so I guess it's all good. Sent from my KB2003 using BariatricPal mobile app

    VLCD

Hello! I'm scheduled for a gastric bypass in the end of November and I've started my pre op diet to lose a few pounds before the surgery. My nutritionist put me on a VLCD with these shakes and soups + some protein and vegetables. Have anyone of you gone through this and have some tips for me? The first few days I was naseous and tired, but now it's kinda ok. What I'm asking is tips and hacks for anyone going through this diet, which is super restrictive and quiet honestly it's gonna be hard to pull this of for the coming 5 weeks. I'm aware that it's also gonna be hard after surgery but I still have the same size stomach so. So do you have any lifesaving tips or recipes or anything? Mmm onion sound delicious! I'll be more experimental with the little things I can eat. I'll make some chicken and onion with some cheese and broccoli or something. Sent from my KB2003 using BariatricPal mobile app
