I have been approved since may 17th and i still do not have a surgery date. i am tired of waiting. The hospital he used closed its obesity wing and he has to find a new place, This is what i was told but now i have found out some other things that are fishy to me soooo... i am going to change.

I dont want to sound like a prude but...... I dont think you should have sex with someone if you have to lie about your scars. I mean if you cant tell them the truth about that ... Why:confused: are you having sex with them????

If any of you are from Southeast Texas you know about a teenager at Vidor High School collaspes and died this week (monday I think) Now I am hearing that she had a lap band.... I will try to get more info and post it. To make this more scary.... I got approved for my surgery and went to see my Dr. (Schmidt) yesterday and he could not set a date due to Medical Center of Southeast Texas closed thier obesity center as of Tuesday. I didnt know about the teenager untill after my appt or I would of asked the doc. Thier reason for closing was " staffing problems" I do not know if these two are connected but..... it is very strange. Anybody know anything about this

I am glad we found out how she died even though it is so sad. I still think she had a band but it was not in anyway the cause of her death. I still dont know why the hospital closed its obesity wing down but...probably just a conceindence(???) My dr is going to use an other hospital now and will call me for a surgery date in the second week of july!!! so i am just waiting

I am not saying the band caused the death but it is strange that the hospital closed two days later. I am not paniced, I am trying to find out any info anyone might have and i knew this would be my best source. My son went to school at VHS and was told by some of his friends(that knew her) that she had a band. These kids would not even know i was thinking about getting banded . SO I am just stating what I heard and will post facts as I hear them

Dr John Schimdt was at that hospital. I dont know who did the girls surgery(if its true she had one) or if she had it done there?

thanks for all yalls comments. I did go to Dr.speigals seminar but he does not take bcbs and self pay is not an option for me. Also i have heard he is ssoooooo busy that it is very hard to ever see him.

I found him because there is a big new hospital in the area that has an obesity wing all made for lapband and gastric bypass patients. There was an ad on tv to go to his seminar so i went. Well i had my appt today and he was very nice Said I was a perfect candident (spelling) for the band Then i asked him if lap band and gass by pass was all he did He said no, he does all kind of surgerys and he has only done 12 LAP BANDS BEFORE!!!! I dont know if that is good or bad I mean i dont want to go to someone that i will one be 1 of a million lap bands he has but i want to make sure he knows what he is doing I mean the hospital hired him to be the dr for ther obesity center So!!!!!! what do you think???????

What that article says about your skin is true .When my husband and i were trying to think of all the diets i had done he said" There was one diet that made your skin look so good" and he was talking about a diet that i drank a lot of water on:cool:

charlee It is so good to here from someboby that has used Dr, schmidt THanks so much for your post. I have read some of your other post and you were having trouble with restriction, IS that solved now??? You say you are happy with the Band so i guess it must be. PS i am also a nurse(lvn) I would be happy to here any advise you have to give me THANK

I called DR. Schmidt , they checked my insurance and wls is not excluded , so i got an appointmemt for next wednsday for my consult. I am excited and a little nervous .:nervous :nervous :nervous :)

BISMARK ND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! oops i should of looked at that first. I am having a consult witha Dr. Schmidt in Port Neches Texas!!!!! I assume it is not the same dr. Schmidt!!! Who would of though ---two Dr. Schmidts :guess

sorry to hear about your cravings and problems with infection. I am not banded yet so i cant really give you advise But i have my 1st consult with DR. SCHMIDT on wed. So you can see i would be very interested to hear about your experience with him. I am from vidor and work in beaumont. I would appreciate any insight you can give me Thanks

Thank you for your comments and encouragement. Dolphin, I am also from the great state of Texas (Southeast Texas area.) Where the wonderful hurricane Rita Hit. That really did not help my dieting attempts any!!!! I really packed on the pounds during that ordeal. You know bordom, nerves,frustration, All the good excuses!!!!!

Dr. Hahn or Dr John Schmidt in Port Arthur Texas. I am trying to find a dr for my 1st appt to see about getting banded. I have bcbs and I think both of these drs take this insurance. Does anyboby have any experience with these drs? Any advise would be helpful.
