Stalls and slow losing! Hoooo boy, I get so angry with my body because there are people who had surgery around the same time I did and who've easily lost double what I have. It's all about working the process though and every pound is a victory, no matter how slowly it comes off. You might need to speak to a dietician; I did after a massive stall and now I'm heading in the right direction again; turns out I was in malnutrition and starving myself. Your body needs fuel.

Beef brisket chilli atop mashed potatoes with cheddar, sour cream and pita chips: 321 calories for the bowl contents + 3 cals for the green onions I missed lol.
Could barely finish half the chilli (but ate all the pita chips) it was unbelievably filling. Must’ve been the potatoes. Mr. ate my leftovers.

My doctor told me I can keep using diclofenac gel too. You can buy it over the counter now. It's great for arthritis joint pain.

Hope you're feeling better after your emergency surgeries! Are you tracking your food? I use the Baritastic app and I notice I stall if I don't track and hit my Protein goal. I had my surgery on October 11, and I'm a slow loser because I have a disability and don't get in much physical activity. So long as you're not eating over your calories and getting enough protein though you're on the right track.

I make a mean strawberry meringue cake (technically a Dacquoise, but i feel like “dacquoise” just doesn’t sound yummy, lol)…layers of nut meringue between layers of a whipped cream-mascarpone mixture and strawberries. It’s actually quite easy to make, but the baking/resting of the meringue takes forever.
I wasn’t able to take a big of the whole thing before the fam dove into it, but my slice will have to do. Oh, and that’s 1/3 of a dulce de ledge churro in the bowl: 307 calories.
I are the churro and about 1/2 the cake slice, because I had put the bowl down to take a break and someone came by and gobbled it up cuz he assumed I was done. I hate when he does that. 🙄

Well, 3 months have gone by since my surgery and I wanted to throw a little bit of what's been happening out there. At surgery I weighed 292 lbs, this morning I weighed 230 lbs. Happy New Year to me!! In July I was 317 lbs, most I will ever weigh. I haven't had alot of issues so far. I'm hoping that trend continues into the New Year and beyond! I look forward to reading posts on this site. It has really helped me through all of this! I stalk more than I talk so, with that in mind, Happy New Year everyone and congratulations on your personal victories! This site is full of amazing people.

I had surgery on 11/10/20, but started my weight loss efforts on 7/5/20. If you’ve been here a while I’m sure you’ve seen me lurking about the forums.
Stats: SW 339. CW: 165. I am a 5’10 woman in her 40s. I work full time and have young children. My current BMI is 23, I started off with it closer to 50.

I knew it was going to take me a while to hit goal- I had 174 lbs to lose. I did all the calculators pre-op that said I would be lucky to get under 200 lbs, but I decided that just wasn’t going to apply to me (haha). My plan was to focus on fruits, vegetables, and healthy Proteins while ramping up exercise. I eliminated Cookies, pastries, and candy but that’s about it. I don’t do low carb, because that isn’t how I’m planning on living the rest of my life. I focus on calorie reduction, which sounds like oh if that’s so easy why did you need surgery? Well cutting calories is possible if you aren’t hungry all the time no matter how much you eat, and if you can fill up on the healthy things without it being like flash paper into a volcano. I honestly did need the surgery, and I’m not going to pretend it did the work for me, but it gave me the help for the work I wanted to be able to do.

Six days a week I do a split between running and rowing for a half hour. I’m going to run in a 5k this spring, which has been a dream of mine for years. I exercise on my lunch break every day.

Yes, I have some loose skin. It’s nowhere as bad as people make it out to be. I am not exactly planning on running around in a bikini so it’s not like it limits my life at all. It’s not visible in my clothes, not even tight fitting ones. I might get it removed some day, but if I don’t I’ll still be happy.

This weight loss has been the fulfillment of a lifelong dream for me. Life is difficult when you are morbidly obese. It’s difficult physically, emotionally, and socially. This weight loss hasn’t fixed every problem in my life, but I didn’t expect for it to. It fixed my weight related problems, and I had a lot of them.

This surgery can be life changing, but it’s not a magic bullet. You still have to make huge life changes. But if you feel sabotaged you your own constant hunger, cravings, and binges, this can really be the tool you use to dig yourself out of the seemingly insurmountable weight you need to lose.

This isn’t a finish line for me. I am still working on hopefully losing another 15 lbs, and I’m never going back to my old eating habits. I know I signed up for a lifelong change, otherwise I’ll be right back where I started. But finally hitting goal was a nice early Christmas present to myself. Sorry for the essay, but I don’t really have anyone in real life to share with who gets it!

Small plates are my absolute fave way to eat a restaurant meal (I.e., dim sum, tapas, izakaya, tasting menus). One can sample a variety of food without the commitment of a full entrée.
Here was last night’s 13 course meal. Each course was probably the size of a fork head (no more than 2 normal sized bites each). Didn’t eat everything put in front of me…I marked the items I passed on with an X below for reference…which someone gladly ate lol. Figured I ate about 2 (maybe 2.5) cups total in food volume over a span of 3+ hours. Was more than satisfied, on the verge of stuffed…almost, but not quite.
There was no easy way to figure out the calories for everything so I just logged 1800 cals for the night (I also had 2 glasses of wine).
Now while me and the Kid were happy, the men wanted to go for pizza after 🙄

Just got around to trying the new GENEPRO gen 3. Not for me! I tried to hide it in my some sugar-free oatmeal and it clumped so bad I tossed it after just taking a few bites. Terrible!
