The bad breath (and possible BO as well) from ketosis is a result of minimal carbohydrate in your diet - not uncommon early on - and improves as your diet improves and varies. Some intentionally go "low carb" in the belief that it will improve their weight loss, which exacerbates the effect. Some programs intentionally call for some carbohydrate early on via foods like oatmeal, cream of wheat, diluted fruit juice as a means of preventing this along with the low energy and lethargy that many experience in the initial weeks.

    Hi -
Protein Shakes were driving me NUTS. I am at the very end of full liquids and beginning to introduce pureed food. However my purees are on the liquidier side because it is what I can handle. You can add less liquid to this recipe if your tummy can handle thicker stuff. I was so wanting something savory. I've been basically living off Premier Protein chocolate shakes and broth based Soups with flavorless Protein added (for awhile this was truly all I could handle otherwise I would feel quite ill) but - now I am trying more things gradually.
Note - this serves probably like 6-8 servings? Maybe more? I haven't measured. I just eat a few spoonfuls and don't over-do it.
    Ingredients
    🔸4 hard boiled eggs
🔸1.5 tbsp mayo (I used chosen foods - because it's paleo and doesn't have inflammatory oils - I was paleo before surgery and before pre-op even to help manage my PCOS symptoms)
    🔸1 stalk celery chopped
🔸A dash of Himalayan Pink Salt
🔸A dash of Onion Salt (I used Trader Joe's brand)
🔸1/4C Pickle Juice (this is the liquidy element that helped me)
    Directions
🔹 Throw everything into the blender and blend until completely smooth.
🔹 Store and refrigerate. I tend to eat 2 oz servings at a time.

Additional notes - you can probably add more seasoning to this if you're able to tolerate. Since I am so early on I wanted to keep it very simple and easy to digest. I loved loved loved this meal. Hope yours turn out great 👍

Even pre-op and most of my life for the last 2 years (thanks to paleo low carb eating) I avoid bananas like the plague but I think in small increments they're nutritionally dense and easy on the tummy. I know people love them so I figured this would be a great recipe to share. This felt awesome on my Day 13 post op tummy.
    1/2 banana
    1/2 C. vanilla GREEK YOGURT (I used 2 Good)
    A dash of nutmeg
    A dash of cinnamon
1/3 C. Fair Life Fat Free Milk
    1/3 C. Filtered Water
1 Scoop whey Protein (I use MyProgressMD - in Vanilla recommended by my surgery program)

    🍌Nutrition Facts
    283kcal
21g carb (normally I'd consider this high but while I am recovering I'm good with it) I aim for under 50g per day
    4g fat
    41g protein 🎉
    2g fiber
    11g sugar
    87mg sodium

Blend until everything is smooth! I am ending my full liquids soon but was getting really tired of chocolate. I think PB2 would probably also taste great in this recipe but I didn't feel like Peanut Butter today. You could also add cocoa, etc or any other flavors you like!

I make salmon in the air fryer. I just season with salt and whatever else I'm feeling like that day, spray both sides with olive oil and "fry" at 380. Time depends on the type of salmon. For wild sockeye, 7 min seems to be the sweet spot. For farm-raised - 9 min works for me. I've done cod the same way too. I've made shrimp in it too, but you have to watch the timing as it's so easy to overcook. Usually about 5-6 min. for shrimp.

Next time, try subbing 2% cottage cheese for your mayo (can't remember if you are lactose intolerant?) then add 1 tbsp Greek yogurt and a tiny bit of mayo and a little bit of dijon mustard (chopped up Claussen dill pickle spear and a couple of chopped green onions if allowed).
It makes it so creamy, a better bang for your calorie and Protein buck, and tastes awesome!

    1 tin smoked baby clams
    1 tin smoked oysters
1 cup Fage 0% plain Greek yogurt
1 cup part skim Ricotta cheese
1/2 cup grated three cheese blend
1 can artichoke hearts in water
    2 cups loose fresh spinach
    1 tbsp Worchestershire sauce
    1 tsp Tabasco
    1 tbsp horseradish

Stir yogurt and cheese in bowl.
Pulse oysters and clams (drain and rinse first to get rid of can taste) and stir into blend
Pulse artichoke hearts and stir into blend
Stir in spinach, Worchestershire, Tabasco and horseradish into blend.
    Spoon 1/4 cup into ramekins.
Bake at 375 for 20 minutes.

    104 cals, 5.4 G fat, 4.4 G carb, 9.3 G Protein.< br /> Makes 10-12 servings. Nutrition based on 10 servings.

My surgeon plan says to stop drinking liquids 15-30 mins before eating, so I stop when I put this in oven to time it right.

If you like smoked oysters at all, this is a nice, rich tasting dish that works nicely for pureed stage.

Am almost 3 years out…i can drink right up to the second before i put solid food in my mouth, with no issues.
But I don’t drink while im eating nor for about 1/2 an hour after. If i did i would get overly full really fast and eventually barf.
…and when i eat broth based Soups with chunks in it, i slurp all the liquid first and then eat the chunks.

For a lower fat version, try replacing 1 tbsp of the mayo with greek yogurt and still use .5 tbsp of the mayo. It is a lot less fatty and less calories with very little sacrifice in taste. I use this for egg salad, tuna salad and chicken salad.
