I got cleared by my program to go ahead with surgery! They're submitting prior authorization to my insurance now and I should be getting my surgery date sometime in January, with the actual surgery sometime between February and April.
I'm just sort of in shock; deep down I figured that they would decide for some reason that I wasn't a good candidate, like last time.
I'm excited. Still have a lot to lose before surgery though. My goal is 50% of EBW lost by my surgery date and I have a ways to go for that, but it feels doable now!

Hi everyone, happy Holidays to all! I'm sending this out because I need accountability here. I've been slowly losing, but at least the scale is heading in the right direction.
I was doing great on my life style eating plan, until I baked a couple of batches of sugar Cookies for the Grandkids to decorate. They stayed in my freezer for one week.
I would grab one here and there. Plus, I baked some brownies for a Christmas function and the left overs are in my freezer! I fell back into old eating patterns, right now I'm under massive stress, aside from the holidays, travel, etc. I went back into stress eating, the more physical pain I was having, the more brownies I crammed into my mouth!
I have now either given away or threw away all cookies, brownies, frosting, etc. If it ain't around, I can't eat it. Back to my program I go. I don't think I regained any weight, just slowed down the process.

This is definitely not a failure. I think you're doing great!!! If I may ask, what was your starting weight and bmi? Those that start off at a lower bmi tend to lose slower. Your non scale victories are amazing, and if you're happy, then it's a success, not a failure. Never compare yourself to anyone else. We are all on very different journeys, and no two people's will look the same.

You should be proud. I don't understand why you feel like you're a failure. My sleeve was almost a year ago and I've only lost 45 lbs. I'm loosing very slowly but I feel good and healthier.

    Hey Yall
Its been a minute since I posted life has been lifeing lol.
So tomorrow is my 1 year check up I actually don't complete a year until Friday but the appointment is early. I've decided for my mental sake I'm not going to go. Since surgery I've lost 63lbs not that I'm not proud but honestly just thought I would be further along. I've lost 102 from my highest weight but from surgery it's been really slow.
I've had some many victories this year. My a1c is 5.2 it was 7.6 last year, I'm wearing a 16, I was in a 26 last year. My BP is in good range. I can work out for an hour. I have traveled something serious this year and don't need a seat belt extender. All the positive and i still feel like I failed. I'm hoping next year I can keep moving forward and pull myself out of this slump. Happy Surgery Anniversary to me.

Took me 14.5 months, and it really slowed down at around the ten month mark.
It can definitely feel like it's never going all come off, especially when it does slow down, but as I just found out on the scale this morning, you do get there. Be patient.

Never bought a scale post-op and the one I had pre-op was insufficient to the task for the first couple years post-op. Once I could weigh on the home scale I didn't, opting only to weigh at follow-ups and other medical appointments.
One does not need a home scale to follow their plan.
    Good luck,

I also have a very basic scale I've had for years. No incentive to upgrade and it hasn't inhibited my weight loss or the monitoring thereof even a tiny bit!

    It happens, don't stress.
You couldn't eat enough to gain that weight in fat so very likely Water weight.
Take 1 cup of lukewarm water and 1/8 of a fresh lemon. Squeeze the juice in the water and drink it. It is a natural diuretic and works amazingly!
PS: I can gain and loose 10 lbs in water. I have seen it. Especially when I was bigger, now i don't see that much fluctuation but still fluctuate none the less.

I kissed my love of Cheesecake Factory goodbye. It's expensive and honestly, there isn't anything that sounds remotely appealing anymore, even if I could tolerate the food there.
Doordash and Uber eats miss me, but I'm not going back to that habit either, so that's a lot of money saved.

If you have followed your plan well you have not failed. Heck, if you are lifeing as well as it seems then you are tremendously successful since lifeing is the name of the game.
Oddly I think folks focus too much on a number on a scale. The important thing is following your plan, getting healthier, and feeling better. These are the true measures of success.
High expectations and comparing ourselves to others is self-defeating. Even if we believe our expectations are reasonable we will sooner or later not meet them. There is always someone that loses more faster. Then we feel like failures when in reality we have no control over how much or quickly we lose weight.
    Good luck,
    Tek
