Everything should be getting better but it isn’t. Could it be me being sad that I lost the ability to have so much food? Could it be that I can’t have that Saturday nights whiskey. Every day just gets harder and I don’t know why.

I am not sure what is going on with me. I had my surgery Dec 8th last year and I have already lost 96 pounds. My wife is happy. I am more active. I can now keep up with my kids for the first time in years and years. I am more active, and my sex life is amazing now. For some reason I am super depressed. I mean it is bad. I feel fat ei feel disgusting. Maybe it is cause idk what to do. As everything gets better in life I seem to be spiraling out. Can someone please give me some advice.

I went to the mall today to try on summer dresses. I went into a store (Esprit), where I previously only fit into their roomiest of open sweaters.
This time, I tried on four dresses, including two button down dresses, a sweater and a jacket. The dresses all fit, and the jacket and sweater (both in XL) were a bit too big.
I bought one dress, a floral one with small buttons running down the front. I haven’t had a dress with buttons in front in years, because my breasts were too big.
it’s just such a weird feeling to walk into a regular clothing store with normal European sizes, and be able to fit into all their dresses. This hasn’t happened to me since I was in my twenties..

Hi all! A couple nonscale victories more than a year out I wanted to share:
My boyfriend picked me up (no guy has ever done that or attempted to) I proceeded to freak out and say don't do that again because I was so scared it was too much and he laughed and said it wasn't bad and I'm being crazy Airplane seatbelts in coach have so much room on them. I remember not being able to buckle my seatbelt on southwest airlines...so embarrassing. I still find it fascinating. Being the one that gets shoved in the back in a packed car because I'm no longer the biggest in the group (weird one I know but it's a thing) Being able to sit on fallen treen branches without snapping them (I spend a lot of time outside/hiking/by the Water and it's nice to sit on them now) Strangers coming up to my friends in bars to ask if I'm single, a weird one, being the big yet invisible friend my whole life. Just fitting in any seat and not having to worry about it anymore Being able to thrift clothes Having small boobs relative to the rest of my body (I hated having big boobs) Anyone else experience these ones?

Volunteered to be my 12yr olds rec softball coach and can actually stand for the entire practoce and game not to mention can roll model running for the girls.

Last night we did a drill inwhich the team had to field line drives and make the play to home plate to get the third base runner out. I was the runner, when they made it I did 10 junping jacks when they missed they did 10 jumping jacks. It was amazing!

Never in my wildest imagination did I think I would play any sport ever, let alone run drills with the team or COACH! 2 years in and its a new life completely !

I was able to cross my legs while sitting for the first time in years! I went for a longer walk today and didn't breathe hard like I did a marathon! I haven't had to stretch out my shirts after washing them to make them bigger- I just slip them on and go!

That towel NSV nearly made me cry when it happened. I still tear-up when I say that I'm no longer diabetic.

My mini Rat Terrier, Twiggy, likes to wedge herself between my back and the couch when I lie down for a nap. Today she fell through and had to crawl onto my shoulder blade and wrap her little head around my neck to sleep. Bye bye back fat. 🐕

Yes. I didn't realize I had lost my neck and shoulders until I got them back. I can carry a purse now and not have it constantly falling off or have to keep my alternate hand on it to keep it in place. So cool!

My excess weight distribution is mainly on my trunk from the neck down and only radiating down a few inches on my upper arms and legs. My shoulders had become heavily padded including the dreaded "buffalo hump". Although I only lost 6.5# during the one week pre-op and an additional 18# since surgery on 3/3/23, I have noticed substantial changes. I have lost (don't want to find it) the buffalo hump and my neck has gotten longer (optically). I have started losing the "football pads" off my shoulders, revealing the promise of regaining my former graceful neck which has been encased in shoulder fat for 10 years.

About two or three weeks ago, I noticed at the gym while doing the hip abductor machine that my thighs/knees can touch without the machine being engaged. I was surprised and it made me smile.

When weight loss stopped I didn't change anything to "enter maintenance". It just happened and I continue to do what I do. *shrug*

My weight loss progressively slowed down each month post-op. Over time, I needed more calories to be satiated. Finally, at 9 months post-op, the weight loss stopped right at my Ideal Body Weight. I'm currently 14 mo post-op, and I'm still experimenting with how much and what to eat to maintain.
I currently eat about 1800-2000 calories a day. I don't follow a specific diet now, but I try to stay focused on Protein, eating clean, limited (and healthy) snacking. My biggest challenge is grazing. My restriction makes it hard to eat actual meals, so I find myself eating "pieces" of food throughout the day... some cheese here, an apple there, a piece of ham, some greek yogurt, a protein bar, etc. It's working ok for now, but it's something I'm monitoring.
Initially, I was tracking everything I ate, but I don't do that now. I keep a running tab in my head, and I'm trying to get to the point that I can regulate intuitively. I weigh myself every morning. I've regained about a pound from my lowest weight.

it was the pickles. Yes - sodium makes some people retain Water like crazy. Plus there is no way you'd gain 3.7 kg of real weight in three days. To do that, you would have to eat 28,000 more calories than your body needs in those three days. So yea, no. It's just water.

Try your best to stick with fresh food- and ask for no sugar in sauces at restaurants. There is a HUGE diet culture here, dont be fooled by labels that say low carb or keto- check the numbers on the back of boxes/package for sure if you do chose to eat any packaged foods.

USA are in grams as well but not per 100g but by serving size, and at the top of the chart, it says how many servings per package.

It's in grams, but not per 100. It's the total then a % of recommended daily allowance

My two biggest NSVs recently were fitting into a regular-sized hotel robe and being able to go to the store and buy a new shirt (size large!) when I spilled coffee all over the one I wore to work. Pre-op I would have been totally stuck unless I was lucky enough that one of the stores near my office had something that could fit a 3X.

Had a couple NSVs over the weekend. On Friday I was at the gym walking on the treadmill and challenged myself to walk for an hour straight without a break and I did it no problem- I wouldn't have been able to do that a few months ago. The other one was I was carrying some laundry up the stairs and got half way up and realized I didn't have a hand on the handrail! My balance was really bad for a while so I always had to use the handrail, but it seems to be getting better as I am losing.

Can’t wait for this. I lost 90lbs presurgery and I’m down about 10 more post ( just over 2 weeks). And I feel I should be happy with 100 down, but I’m struggling to find NSVs and this is a big one I’m looking forward to.

Hi guys, I need your advice!

I am going on holiday to the US (Nevada, Utah & Arizona) and other than suuuuper excited, I am also really nervous about eating there and could really use you guys’ help.

My surgeon gave me the strict guideline of never eating anything that is over 5 grams of sugar per 100 grams. I have followed this to a T so far and want to continue to do so on holiday as well.
In the EU (where I live) there’s an ingredient breakdown at the back of the package with ‘xx g carbs, of which xx g sugar’ per serving size AND per 100g. So I’ve been using that to check everything I buy!
Is there a similar thing in the US? If so, I’m guessing it won’t be in grams but maybe oz? What would 5g per 100g be in oz?

In restaurants I go with things I am familiar with and know doesn’t have sugar in them.. nervous about being in another country where I don’t know what half the dishes are, let alone how they’d usually be prepared!!

Please do share if you have any other advice or tips that may come in handy!
Like maybe things to avoid, or restaurants, or things to try that are definitely okay.
Can you tell I’m nervous?? 😩😆

not a weird non-scale victory but a huge non-scale victory nonetheless

i fit in airplane seats :D
i’ve been STRESSING about this upcoming trip cuz i couldn’t afford first class seats or to buy the seat next to me and ive never fit in plane seats before. i kept googling ‘can size 16 fit in plane seats’ and i measured the seat width on my couch and sat between two boxes of the seat width but none of that eased my extreme anxiety that i wouldn’t fit in the seat. :(

but i fit :D and i didn’t even need a seatbelt extender - another first!

i’m on the plane right now flying over southern oregon and i’m so endlessly relieved that the only thing i was worried about was completely a nonissue 😊❤️
